In Italy an average lunch is made by a medium size (small for burgers) plate of pasta (70-100gr), a plate with meat and some veggies (both coocke with extravirgin oil) and a fruit. You can eat some bread with your meat and veggies.
This is the secret to hit your 90s.

Italy makes the best food anyway

wut ? so you eat bread and pasta in the same meal.

My father can cook those things and eat them in less than an hour and then he get back to work.
People who live too far their workplace eat in the company's canteen or bring food from home.
I eat at uni's canteen.

Are most married Italian women stay at home mother's?

Is this rice or buckwheat?

Rice.

I wouldn't exclude that many of them are but it really doesn't take as much time as you may think.
Even I would manage to prepare a full course in 30 to 40 minutes.

>That seems like it would take forever though.
For pasta you need 10 minutes, for the sauce you can either buy it at the market or doing it in large quantities that can last a week during the weekend, but you can make a quick sauce with fresh tomatoes, garlic and basil (in little pieces) coocked in a pan with oil.
A little steak is ready in 5/10 minutes same for some kind of veggies or you can make a salad.
