dictionaries say things like special book; separate volume; book of lectures...
so is that like a side story or spin-off manga or something?
Jayden Perry
from wiki >A tankōbon (単行本, "independent/standalone book") is the Japanese term for a book that is complete in itself and is not part of a series or corpus. In modern Japan, though, it is most often used in reference to individual volumes of a single manga, as opposed to magazines (雑誌 zasshi), which feature multiple series.

is it true there are no direct translation swear words in japanese?
just implications from intonation and formalities?
Tyler Stewart
no, they do have swear words and direct insults, but it's something you'll barely hear in anime for example

I was wondering if you can use にとって like that in as far as I know it's more about clarifying something, especially a point of view or standpoint of someone >あなたが準備されている I don't think you can phrase it like that, it makes it sound like "you're being prepared" or something >説明くれてください I think 説明 is the wrong choice here, because it's seems to be more about teaching/explaining something unknown, maybe just a simple 教えて would be better >俺はエヌ2をするのを well you probably see the general problem here >集中的の学ぶなんて I don't see this working either, I'm not sure how I would phrase it though
it's really not my intention to shit over your sentence, I wish you the best of luck
Well that is a thing.I don't know if I should use the original expression and make the text slumpy or use the predetemined proverb and loose some of the text originality.
Also, based non butthurt ameribro.

剣のハンドルは緑です。 私の猫はお腹が空いていです。 妖精は気分が疲れです。 I've been slowly trying to pick up vocab and grammar through reading, but I don't feel like I understand all of the rules, and those are the most complex sentences I know how to make. Is there a better way to proceed, or should I just keep doing what I'm doing?
Caleb Carter
You also read a grammar guide and are looking up the grammar points as you find them in DoJG/HJGP, right? Nothing better than that.

Jesus FUCKING christ, did you guys like SUMMON ME FROM THE VOID or some shit?
I feel like somehow my fucking 'how I lost my virginity' story belongs IN THIS THREAD.
So, I lost my virginity in a Tokyo Love Hotel with a Catholic Japanese Schoolgirl (actually only one year older than me so she graduated before I had; longer story still...) by buying a ticket to Tokyo (to be with her) with money I got from my only school friend (Wei Song) on a stopover in Singapore (I lived in Jakarta), while we were being evacuated from the country of Indonesia (due to civil unrest) to my 'ethnic home' of Australia.
My relationship with my own family and hope for the future was so bleak that I basically 'hopped a flight' to be with this woman who had shown me any affection in my life, even if it was purely sexual (how the fuck would I have known?)
Was an awesome few months, but still broke me. I've got a lot of 'those' stories, but yes.
So much cooler to just say, "Lost my virginity to a Japanese Catholic Schoolgirl in a Tokyo Love Hotel whilst fleeing a refugee-status-inducing-civil-conflict."
Oh, and ALLAH AKHBAR!

Definitely fanfiction from Takeshi as he tries to fall asleep at night, thinking about what might have been with that cute foreign student he met while in university, years and years ago. But now he's in his late 30's, unmarried, in a dead-end job, with no career prospects or life going anywhere.
