Are Europeans really that culturally different to make a federation unviable?

yes

Go on.

Only a monarch could unite Europe tbqh

everyone here hates at least one of the others, it will never work properly.

You are all shit flinging continental vermin.
Get some coast line and eat pickled herring like a blonde.

imo we should have separate Germanic, Latin, and Slav federations

How did Yugoslavia work out bud? y'all couldn't stay together and you even spoke the same language

Thanks to a charismatic leader, and as soon as he died the federation entirely collapsed, proving my point here

*only war could unite Europe

The only man in europe charismatic enough to unite us in one federation: Silvio berlusconi

If we spoke the same language it would probably work out. But we don't and it's never going to work out.

what is this guy saying? "lol, communists are poor" or something?

This could actually work

In the context "Poveri Comunisti" Poveri doesn't exactly mean poor financially, rather "poor" as people, in spirit, ideals, etc.
He's calling the people on the left opposing him "communists" in the same way people on the left are prone to refer to those on the right as "Fascists".
I quite honestly don't remember the exact context behind this speech, but it always struck out to me as to what charisma looks like. I've never liked him as a politician, but what an orator he is.

yes and fuck you

It worked at very well for all the countries in Europe until the jacob*n revolution despite a non linguistic unity within all of them for a very long time, thanks to monarchy.

Culture in 2017 is a meme. There is no major religion or ruling monarchy in europe, and the language barrier is a non issue in the future since everyone will be speaking english.

Times are different. If you want to centralize power and the labor market within a country, it's no big deal. People just move to the capital.

If people cannot move to the "capital" (ie germany) because of the language barrier, it doesn't work out.

We're a monarchy and our empire fell apart, and now our country is fucking imploding into pieces

this
And our value systems are similar anyway. Perceptions of right and wrong around western/northern Europe are very homogeneous. This has been true for centuries, even when our customs/habits were more different than today.

Your empire is still made up of large, wealthy, and powerful allies so close they might as well still be part of the same country.
Your imploding country is currently among the wealthiest and most influential on earth

#
Of course but having a "capital" language wouldn't at all imply the disappearing of all the "regional" dialects, it worked out with latin all over Europe. But indeed the state would have to be really decentralized in such case
Your Empire collapsed as soon as you felt for democracy.

Ehh we're more so subservient to our former empire now, we're essentially America's bitch. Our country does remain among the richest in the world but it's on the constant brink of falling apart. Scotland attempted to leave, Northern Ireland stopped being a war zone only in the last ten years (and it looks like it's going to become one again) and all our Caribbean territories have been fucking ruined by a hurricane. Our country is currently incredibly unstable and nobody really knows whats going to happen. If we get shut out of the European market during Brexit talks, we're just fucked really

>If we get shut out of the European market during Brexit talks, we're just fucked really
Nah, you'll just enter an FTA with Canada, the US, and (possibly) Mexico. Theresa May and Justin Trudeau have already been in talks to add the UK to NAFTA.

Yes, very.

It’s more a question of political tradition and economic differences than a problem of culture.

i'd kill the governmen official that sign it if it happens.

american-tier post

the arian rase would never want to associate with the slavs

americans are all talk, swedes would actually do something about it.

that didn't work out well before (see the habsburg)

>The only realistic language for the EU is English.
> Brexit happens

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Now they can't use it without looking like cucks.

The Union is overstepping their bounds and infringing on the rights of sovereign nations.

Merkelland has no right to dictate to Hungary, or Poland, or any fucking nation, whether they can or cannot import allahu akhbars for "cultural enrichment".

In fact, the ony reason this GROSS abuse of economic power hasn't been adressed, is because of the Fourth Reich's economic power

Oh, Sven...

>the idea, and especially the timeframe, was unrealistic
>at the moment people longed for the reliability that they believe they can find in national states
>majority of member states certainly wouldn’t participate in creating a united states

Good thing you've done that, since the thread isn't even close to maxing. fuck off

All EU institutions are in either France or Belgium. French is pretty much the institutional EU language.
