Indie comic

>Indie comic
>nothing but talking shit about retail job, video game references, and how The Beatles are the greatest band in the world

>it's a comic about bisexual furries

>It's a comic about the furry "community"

when was the last time this fucking happened, like seriously?

>big 2 comic
>nothing but character reboots, minority pandering, bad artwork

>Subversive and bold new take on the superhero genre

Do you ever look in the indie section of your LCS? This happens all the time.

In my city, every comic shop has this and it's always full of shit like this. They pop up every month or two and only last like 3 issues.

One I saw was this guy complaining about his retail job and put in a section where it was a Final Fantasy reference of killing "The Final Boss," which was his store manager.

These are even worse.

>it isn't

Wait... wait... WAIT. Could you imagine... if... wait... superheros ACTUALLY existed? Like, in our world. Like in this world we're in right now. It wouldn't be ANYTHING like the comics! I mean if it was me I'd probably just act like a huge asshole all the time... wait... what if... wait... what if they were just like me?

This is only really a problem for webcomics and Image shit.

>Indie comic
>nothing but slice of life shit.
what happened? when did people stop loving stories about space, dinosaurs, knights, ninjas, aliens and monsters and thought it was a good idea to make four tomes of their boring life working at subway and having a crush on some moe girl from college?

I'm gonna give you ten million dollars for that idea

I will backhand you if you're dissing Astro City.

Nah. Basically anything trying to do what Watchmen did 30+ years ago.

Define indie comic

> So many zines are just artists talking about how much being an artist sucks and how they can't write the comics they want
> Instead of writing the comment they want they spend the time moaning.

So many zines are so generic I don't see why they do it

Made by people not on a publisher who buy shelf space at the comic shop out of there own pocket.

The fact that so many comic books still name the Beatles as “the greatest or most significant or most influential” rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.

We need a Sup Forums version about Watchmen

they would probably be blue and naked a lot

>indie comic
>dude what if, what if, the superheroes were all assholes?!
why do people keep doing this?

i don't understand the Sup Forums sense of humor.
Is Sup Forums full of girls?

>what happened?
Capitalism

>post-memeing
It is the gods who weep

>beatles are apparently held up as the best because they sold the most
>says this is not true, by the way, undercutting his own point
This is the worst pasta I've ever tasted.

On Sup Forums, meme is an insult that can be added to any word. E.g. memerap.

>autobiographical comic
>features the author masturbating

I don't ever hold up The Beatles or Watchmen as the greatest because I know they're not.

My sis loses her shit over the Beatles yet most of their music is garbage and boring. They weren't "innovative," most of the shit they did was already being done years before and better actually on Jazz and Blues records.

Watchmen is good, but it's not the greatest by far. There have been other works of sequential art that utilize it to a new potential and a new way of story-telling. But Watchmen is held so highly because it dealt with capes, which is what people think comics are all and only about.

No user, the word meme is a insult in all Sup Forums, except for /s4s/.

Yeah but on Sup Forums that's where it's used the most.

jesus christ Sup Forums get it together

Unsurprising considering it's the third worst board on the site.

Grow up user, obviously slice of life is the only way to make a mature story in the comic medium.

>People who call everything with literally any fantasy elements capeshit

I don't get it.

Say what you want. This was the fucking best

>and how The Beatles are the greatest band in the world
I understand the first two, but what?

>and how The Beatles are the greatest band in the world

Post two examples of this

>indie comic
>"What's it's like to be [minority] living in a cis-gendered heterosexual white male's world (autobiographical).

Fixed that for you, OP.

kill yourself

But he's right

And they wonder why people prefer capes.

>Fixed that for you, OP.
>kill yourself

You're right, that's less indie comic and more capeshit comic, these days.

Is that type of aimless hipster pothead lifestyle that's portrayed in those indie comics a lot really that prevalent in the world? I guess it's just where I live, but I never see people like that anywhere nor even hear of them a lot, and it's not like I live in the richest or classiest city.

Is it just an exagerration to sell comics to people who want to live that lifestyle, kind of like how white suburb kids are obsessed with gangster rap or what?

I see hipster potheads everywhere, but I'm from the Pacific Northwest.

>any comic
>the characters all have a batter apartment than you despite you making more money than them

They didn't pioneer jazz, blues, or even Rock and Roll, they just mixed all of the genres that they liked in a way that had never been done before. I'll admit, to someone who might have lived in a post-Beatles world where their innovations, as well as things they simply managed to popularize, seem so common place now, it might be hard to appreciate it, but taking them on their own merits, they're still fuckjng excellent.

Bottom line is, you may not like them, but there are reasons that other people of all ages and backgrounds do.

Eh, that's a trope anywhere you look. Fiction is fantasy.

It's a common misconception and what people quote to support the idea of their greatness. It gets passed around a lot, burying the true facts from anyone who doesn't actually look into it, which is most people.

Holy unsupported assertions, Batman!

>comic about 20/30 somethings in the city

>woman's problems could be solved by talking to someone and asking for help

>guy's problems can't be solved easily and require him to find some way to cope with it and possibly fall in love with someone.

Astros City isn't a deconstruction, it's a celebration

Why is this good user? Most videogame parody comics are really bad but you piqued my interest

>Comic has a seemingly interesting premise
>It's actually just a framing device for a crappy autobio comic.

>third worst
Who are the top two

Fuck Watchmen forever for starting this SUPERHEROES BUT REAAAAL plague.

Fuck you, cunt. The Boys were great.

Based edgelord-kun.

Don't ask Sup Forums. Sup Forums LOOOOOOVES the "comfy" genre.
