If it happened later, then maybe the Roman Empire would never fall, if existed in this universe.

The horse was first domesticated here.
Then thousands of years later, the Huns developed stirrups.

Horses came from Khazagstan which may still have a little steppe. And the stirrup was an itterative thing. The huns didn't invent it all at once. Other civilizations had shit like it beforehand. With millions of more people on the planet thanks to more arable land in the middle of Eurasia then if anything technological progress would have been greater.
As for the evolution of races, that's kind of moot since they would have still developed on frozen steppes since there was still a fucking ice age... presumably.

I want the homeworld gems to be a part of the crystal gems, but still a sort of sub-team with their own identity, sort of set apart, like they've always been depicted in fan and even official art. And I'd like to return to the original four's focus sometime too, without other characters diluting the spotlight and their tight dynamic with each other

That's the great thing about the Siberian breadbasket. Trade routes across Eurasia would be more robust. The flow of ideas would increase meaning technological development would increase across the board.
