Leftovers

Is this really as good as Sup Forums says?
How does it compare to LOST?

there's only one or two people praising it, everyone else is laughing at it.

Well with the series finale tonight we'll find out if Lindelof can stick the landing.

What is this show about ?

Best show of the decade. Hopefully Lindelof is able to provide a somewhat satisfying ending (fingers crossed).

Counting off: ONE

It's shit.

autists and pretentious losers hate it

people who are capable of thought and emotions at the same time like it

int 8.1 on imdb

when even those normie pleb don't like the show then u know its shit

It's like a do-over of Lost. Lindelof took everything he learned from Lost and applied to this show. It's really fucking good.

I'm the other guy.

This is actually accurate as fuck.

It's the greatest show on TV right now.

Too much race mixing for me

most Sup Forums types will probably hate it

best since Mad Men

Could say it's the bets of the "golden age of tv"

meh

It seems like most people who dislike it just hate the premise and the fact that things wont be explained. I have no problem with that, I just find the characters boring and not particularly well written. I've read the book and I think it executes the core concepts much better.

>It seems like most people who dislike it just hate the premise and the fact that things wont be explained.
Garvey is literally reading absurdist philosophy (Camus) in the first episode. What do they expect?

It's KINO and you should watch it. Season one is good, but it really picks up in Season two and three is a mastapeece.

The philosophy in LOST is false. The philosophy in this is real.

Believe. Broaden your mind.

wasn't expecting an accurate post ITT but this is as accurate is it gets.

And what is this philosophy exactly?

The philosophy of the mindgarden. Prune yours.

Okay, so pretty much a few years back this event, called The Sudden Departure happened. Basically, 2% of the world's population disappeared into thin air. The Leftovers is about the ramifications of that event (cults forming, government organizations made to solve what happened that day) on the people in a small upstate New York town. With an amazing kino piano score and god-tier performances all around, The Leftovers is a must watch.

"leftovers" is an anagram of "LOST Fever."
You've been had.

You are a genius. You could be the next Jesus if you unsuccessfully an hero.

Nothing like lost, second season is weak, third season is best -- I enjoy the show because it constantly challenges your perspective and fucks with your head.

its gonna be shit with no resolution

I unsuccessfully an hero all the time, m8.
Everyone who is alive now are doing the same.

is this ironic

is it better than the knick?

>yfw it opens with the original title credits

It's decent, no where near other HBO classics like The Sopranos and The Wire though.

I now feel bad that you gave an honest and relatable answer.

>tfw season 3 has been a disappointment

I hope the finale is great but I don't have very high hopes

kys tripfag with this dumb bait

>How does it compare to LOST?
let me put it this this way
the worst kate episode is ten times better than the best leftovers episode

Yes

Take LOST and remove the great characters and mystery. You're left with a boring mess that doesn't amount to anything, and that's what the Leftovers is like.

Wait, so has this series unveiled any explanation for the event that happened?

I don't follow it or anything, but from lurking the threads I get the sense that the final episode airs tonight and everyone's still in the dark regarding how people started disappearing.

Is that correct?

And it had better not.

Lindelof'd once shame on you, Lindelof'd twice...

It was explicitly stated that we'd never find out why the departure happened. That is exactly the opposite of the point of the series.

Ya'll gonna get lindelof'd

we already got the original sountrack over the new opening last week
I don't think thats gonna happen

unironically this

pffft no

>LOSTfags started out shitting on Lindelof and LOST in Leftovers threads
>now they just claim L O S T is better than Leftovers

I don't understand you people. Hell, I love both shows equally at the moment, only thing I don't like about LOST is how the last season felt, and I get that same feeling sometimes watching the episodes of this last season of Leftovers, but I think it's just that I don't want this show to end like LOST did and I feel like it's going to.

the show is basically a bunch of random mysteries happening and none of it will be explained. they've already said the departure isn't going to be explained, that's fine, but then they just stack more mysteries on top of the departure, and those will also never be explained.

i think it's fucking stupid but there's a whole bunch of people that don't seem to care about things like this and just want 'kino' moments with violin music.

>Wait, so has this series unveiled any explanation for the event that happened?

We aren't going to get a solution and that's the point, it has never been indicated that it would ever be explained so if people get disappointed about this not being answered they missed the point hard.

Weren't you literally just saying in the other thread the show was shit?

Can you hear me SOS?

;_;

count 3

Count 4

Jump inside the fruit of my loins.

Do we agree that regarding seasons: 3 > 1 > 2 ?

Season 3 has been pretty shit desu. The first two were pure kino. You could actually just watch the first 2 and forget S3 exists because it wraps up fairly tidy in the S2 finale.

the correct opinion

How can you say that season 3 is shitty when episodes 3,4,5 and 7 are between the best?

Gonna miss them.

Identifying leftovers as a retread of lost is not praise of lost.

>S03E05 was anything but pure shit

Just like with Lost there are parts in the Leftovers that don't have to be explained because they are left ambiguous enough to be interpreted by the fans. You could say this is a cheap way for the writers to write themselves out of a corner in order not to alienate or offend fans of theirs that wouldn't like an explanation to a mystery, but really it's just probably so they can put all their effort into the characters. This is essentially what Lost was all about, and if you don't understand that sometimes you just have to let the mystery be, then this show just isn't for your undeveloped mind and you should just fuck right off back to your Game of Thrones general or whatever fucking hole you crawled out of, mysteryposter.

There isn't anything in Leftovers so far that can't be explained besides the departed and Kevin's hotel, which is open to interpretation from the viewer.

Where can I watch all the episodes?

>saying a show is a retread of one of the best shows that was ever on television
>not a compliment
Yeah, okay

is there a more kino moment in the show than this?
protip: there isnt

I'm having a hard time thinking of a more kino moment in any show

if lost was only about the characters then it wouldn't need all the mystery nonsense of the island in the first place. you can't just ignore that shit and say it was all about the characters, because it fucking wasn't.

the same kind of crap is going on in this show, at least this time around lindelof covered his ass and straight up told everyone he isn't going to explain anything

>I'm not Thomas I'm Judas
>Matt - God conversation
>Ending of s03e04

STOP COMPARING IT TO LOST

maybe he should write something that isn't lost version 2.0 then

thewatchseries dot us

One of my favorite moments this season is Kevin telling Nora that he loves the book Matt wrote during their fight.

"I don't like it, I fucking love it, it's riveting!"

I death marched past all of the eps in the last couple of weeks. So I'm down to the last 3 if you count the final on the way.

It's pretty damn good.. You have to like watching a drama of course but other than that I see why people really like it. Plus it's a tight story being jt's only 28 eps over 3 season and you're out.

So no random side tracking stories as they try to filler 22+ every season.

I started watching it 2 days ago and coincidentally just finished the latest episode about 10 minutes ago to find out the finale is in like 2 hours

It's the best show in a while.

>enjoyed season 1
>dropped the show 4 or 5 episodes into season 2

it's shit

>if lost was only about the characters then it wouldn't need all the mystery nonsense
God damn you fucking monkey don't you understand, the island is a fucking device to explore and expand the characters. Like Jack's and Locke's internal struggles about the islands mysteries and what they mean.
>you can't just ignore that shit and say it was all about the characters
But you can, and they didn't. Pretty much everything was explained by the final episode, if there's something you still don't understand then I'm sorry and I'll do my best to try and explain it.
>covered his ass and straight up told everyone he isn't going to explain anything
I think the description of the final episode says it best. "Nothing is answered. Everything is answered. And then it ends".

You make whatever the fuck you want out of the show, and it's clear it probably isn't for you, so fuck off already and stop wasting your time and the time of others in Leftovers threads trying to make sense of something that will never make sense to you.

So, is there going to be a stream?

how long til new episode?

Is this still the same kind of cocktease LOST was? I stopped watching after season 2 because it's just constantly dragging in new mysteries without actually resolving anything, just like LOST did. I just wanted to check in and see if anything has been wrapped up since it started.

Finale prediction: Kevin goes to find Nora but she goes through the machine and leaves behind the note she initially wrote for him back at the end of season one, having held onto it this whole time in case she ever had to leave him.

Screencap this.

i thought this way too because they focused the attention on the nigs, it gets so much better later on in that season

1h10m from now (9pm eastern)

that would be dope desu

Stolen from the last thread, but curious to hear more opinions:

In honor of the finale, what is the best scene of each season?

Season 1
Either
>Nora visits Holy Wayne
or
>Patti recites the poem in the cabin

Season 2
>Kevin at the well

Season 3
>"Then you should go be with them."

You're a fucking pleb, lmao. The point of the mysteries was to keep people watching. That's why every episode ends on a fucking island mystery-based cliffhanger.

But we know Nora survives. The machine would kill her

Unless the flashforward is her personal "hotel," or the place where the departed went (i.e. the machine actually works).

ONE here, I'll miss you guys. It's been a great ride.

>But you can, and they didn't. Pretty much everything was explained by the final episode, if there's something you still don't understand then I'm sorry and I'll do my best to try and explain it.

every single explanation they did give were extremely lame and were only in there because the network had to force lindehack to answer them. if he had his way he would have just LET DA MYZTRY B (which is exactly what he will do in the finale tonight) because he's a fucking joke who uses con job writing tactics to get people to keep watching his garbage

pssstt

matt casino/church episode
international assassin/finale
waiting for the last episode to determine

It's nothing like Lost. Lost's downfall was that it spent 6 seasons framing itself as a giant mystery, and then ended up answering almost nothing about what made it so...mysterious, and Lindelof ended up having to give a bunch of half assed excuses why.

This, he said from the beginning DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING. This gives him the freedom to do whatever the fuck he wants, and it turns out when he's given free reign to do that he comes up with some really weird, really interesting shit. I love it.

>really weird, really interesting shit

like what? fucking purgatory hotel and kevin is jesus that can't die?

among other things

...yes?

oh i got another cool one, the dogs man. lets spend the first season shooting at dogs with this strange guy

oh wait he was just a weird crazy guy in the end

KINO

man you're so smart and cool and edgy, I wanna be liek you

>Is this really as good as Sup Forums says?

No it's total shit.
