Why are some Americans wearing merchandise from university they obviously didn't graduate from?
Isn't that cringy for Americans to see people with Harvard hoodies when they are studying at the local community college?

We unfortunately have that here too.
that's like the kiss me im irish thing
I don't really care
i went to columbia but i still wear harvard shirts
I've literally never seen someone where a harvard hoodie. Maybe you shouldn't project what you see in online shopping advertisements as everyday life in America, just a thought.
"Its the aesthetic" is what they would probably say.
Same reason why foreigners wear American clothing with american words and vice versa.
Never seen this user.
I got my sister a sweater from my uni and she still wears it when she's cold, its pretty warm
I've never seen a Harvard hoodie though so OP must be naive or has never gone outside and still lives with his parents
>american words
It’s mentioned in the book hillbilly elegy and some other places I have seen
No ultra common but not unheard off
Generally speaking they only do that if:
They have a relative who went there/works there
They grew up in the city/town
They visited the school/was accepted to the school and was given a free hoodie
They like their sports teams
People do this in France? Can I get a Sciences Po shirt or something?
>academic stolen valor
SIR DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF MY LIFE I'VE SPENT STUDYING AND WORKING TO ACHIEVE ACCEPTANCE INTO HARVARD?
“Nigga” “finna” “blat”
Words you see in the average mumble rap video
High schoolers usually wear them because they aspire to go their

Exactly that a thing with white Americans for some reason.
Did you not understand the concept of the statement I made?
No, why would anybody give a fuck what somebody else is wearing? Maybe they just like the school or they're wearing it for some family tradition. Not a big deal.
It pisses me the fuck off. I'm so autistic about this shit. If you didn't go to that school you can't represent or be into sports from it. I got my heart crushed by Texas A&M and UT so I threw all things related out. I only wear my state school that I attend and I wear it with pride. Hate these fucking posers
I once saw a guy wear the hoodie sweater from my university. I said, "hello fellow alumni!" and he looked puzzled. I pointed out his shirt, and he said he went to the area as a tourist and he purchased the university sweater.
University hoodie sweatshirts are the equivalent of "I

I thought that was only an Asian thing. Kinda weird to see white people doing that.
T. Korean
It might be an Asian thing. He was Indian-American.
Ah that makes sense. Asians often do 'tours' to Ivy League colleges and so and buy stuffs like that.
My family haven't done that but I've seen a lot doing that stuff.
Better to buy something useful like a sweatshirt the usual tourist crap, I suppose
*than the usual tourist crap
