Well I live 20 minutes from the Norwegian border so learning Norwegian came from just spending time with friends.
Then I learned English in school and with movies etc.

One parent spoke English and the other spoke something else. My brothers and sisters don't use English at all among ourselves or our parents anymore though.

>people also say music sometimes
>I don't know how you do it. Vidya and TV never helped for me
Me neither, at least not much. I had to use guides like Pimsleur and Michel Thomas, and proper instructional books, to get good enough to really pickup on any TV.

What language?

Persian

Accidentaly. My third too. Fourth didn't stick.

Why don't your siblings use English? Just to keep their heritage? I mean once you move seems kinda pointless to still keep using Persian in America.

Which techniques or tricks were more useful?

By watching American tv, in America.

2nd 3rd and 4th as mandatory school studies, English, Nordic language (Norwegian in my case) and either French, German or Spanish (German for me)

By growing up in Soviet Union

School, american bf.

Did you study in the US?

No. I met him while travelling, we've been in a LDR for a couple of years.
I'm moving in with him in summer.

I also speak French and Spanish, learnt them in school.

Tv series, videogames and internet (Sup Forums and wikipedia mostly)

LDR?

Long distance relationship. He comes here every couple of months and spends two weeks here, I go there whenever I have time off school.

i didn't

I dunno
I don't even know which is my second language or even third for that matter
I was born and next thing I know I'm able to communicate in 3 languages
Nothing uncommon around here

Sounds expensive/air travel! Great step with the move in though, it's a good pre-marriage thing. I did that last year with my gf and you for sure learn a lot about eachother. It's a lot different. Now I'm getting some pressure about popping the question though. :/

mandatory subject in school till 17 years old

He is pretty well off. I surely wouldn't be able to afford visiting that often.

Yeah, I'm really happy we're moving in together. We're planning on getting married soon, too.

Are you nervous about marrying your gf?

Yes, I am. I love her, but I'm just nervous about the whole marriage process. I wanted to just be bf/gf forever, I just don't see much of a purpose in getting married. I guess it's more symbolic. The whole mess of engagement parties and a wedding is hard for me to get into, and I know I should be excited about it. On top of that, she can't have kids so I see less of a reason to actually marry. I don't mind no kids, but, having the same last name I thought was most important for the kids sake rather than ours. So I donno. :/

I didnt

Have to learn ching chongese in school for ten years

I feel very similarly. I never cared about getting married, I am extremely introverted/reserved so weddings and parties stress me - we will only do it because it will be comfier with immigration things and for the children in the future.
We will have an extremely small wedding (just close family and 2-3 friends) and probably will not have engagement parties and such things.

Have you tried to have an honest talk about this with her?
Getting married to my boyfriend has practical benefits, but if it wasn't as convenient I'd probably try to discuss this and figure out if not getting married ever was an option.
I'd get married to someone who deeply cared about it, but if we both were on the same boat and were getting married more out of obligation than genuine desire to, I'd probably just avoid doing it.

Exposure.

Sup Forums

That sounds really nice. Not yet, I think I need to now though. She hasn't been pushy or anything, but sometimes marriage will come up in conversation.

whatching tv with a dictionary and notepad to write the things down and practice later.

Also, I'm pretty sure this model is a succubus. I never had such a hard boner for non-porn pics before.

Yep

I'm trying to learn Spanish right now and have been searching for simple cartoons. It's been harder than I thought it was.

I did find dubbed Star Wars.

Well Spanish should be super easy, if you don't know a ward just put el in front and -os at the end of the english word and it's probably correct.

Sometimes that works out, but, mostly no.

My main problem is I'm old and stupid. Bad combo.

Growing in Spain speaking one of the regional languages as first language.
