How does negation of はず work? I can't wrap my head around this; what makes 「お前など誰も知るはずない月だけが見つめている」not be 「お前など誰も知らないはず...ok, it doesn'tsound good, but still. Why はずない? Does that sentence roughly translates to "it's not that even though no-one knows more than you, the moon alone stares at you"?
It's so hard to comprehend for someone who doesn't learn using books.
知るはずない - it's not expected that (he) knows
知らないはず - it's expected that (he) doesn't know
At least in a more literal sense.
