I just saw Hacksaw Ridge and it was very good. Why didn't it get any Oscars?

I just saw Hacksaw Ridge and it was very good. Why didn't it get any Oscars?

Because Jesus. Jesus doesn't deserves any academy awards.

It won 2. Film editing and sound mixing. Was nominated for a ton more.

You might be retarded OP

I hated this movie because of all of the loud gunfire noises and explosions. The story was okay I guess.

It was okay. The first half was the best.

Cause Mel is stigmatized for being a tad rayciss. If he were a pedo, that would be forgivable, but racism is so much worse.

>it's a how do we fix Sup Forums episode

we have a real winner now

I mean Oscars that matter.

Pussy

>Christian kino in 2010s

>which is an oscar that doesn't matter? It's still an academy award

Does anybody actually enjoy loud gunfire noises and explosions?

why did you go see a war film if it bothers you so much?

This is a film about war, not war itself. Surely the presentation can be moderated to not be startling, frightening, and extremely offensive.

Braveheart was a war film and did not include loud gunfire noises or explosions

>Make a religious porn movie that only rednecks and white trash like
>Get drunk and when a cop pulls you over you express your love for sand niggers
>Beg your Jewish overlords for forgiveness and apologize multiple times, but they show no mercy and kill your career
>Become an even bigger alcoholic in your depression
>Your wife cucks you for a nigger
>You get caught on tape crying about how upset you are that your wife is cucking you for a nigger
>Now trying to appease his masters by making an anti-war movie glamorizing a soldier who refused to kill the enemy, starring a Jewish actor

Is there a bigger cuck in Hollywood than Mel Gibson?

Mel accidentally used the name of the BTS documentary for his film title.

>startling, frightening, and extremely offensive.
Completely the point.
Braveheart had no such noises because they had no guns or explosives you nimrod.

not racist, anti-semitic. He might as well have gassed 10 trillion noble jews himself.

Characters were mostly bland, there wasn't much chemistry between the soldiers. Cgi and bloom were cheap and excessive. The overarching plot wasn't engaging to me, I don't even remember it lol. Some action was schlocky, like that dude using the puppet as a meat shield. Also Garfield is a shit actor. Still, Gibson directed the crappy script as well as anyone could

>This is a film about war, not war itself
what did he mean by this?

This is such a lazy excuse. If he was blacklisted his movies wouldn't be getting theatrical releases in the US and Oscar noms. The was decent, it wasn't amazing.

because objectively better movies were also released last year

Pretty sure he's memeing you user

>protagonist kicks a stick grenade in slowmotion and then 2 seconds later slaps another one in the air saving his entire platoon

Who ever said one scene can ruin an entire film?

blood father was better and nobody ever talks about it.
Drunken marathoning Payback, Edge of Darkness, Get the Gringo and Blood Father Is friendless neet kino

it was schmaltzy

You're forgetting about the scene where he pulls Vince Vaughn along while he fires his submachine gun. It's like a drive buy shooting in the middle of nippon.

It's a decent movie overall, just very cliche. Mel has made better.

I rolled my eyes at Vince Vaughn being a seargent, rolled my eyes even more when he was stumps getting drug through the battle field and audibly groaned when Garfield jumpkicked a fucking grenade.
The movie stinks.

>You look like a pig in heat and if you get raped by a pack of niggers it's your own fault
There's that too
That's why I said stigmatized. Mel is viewed more poorly than someone like Woody Allen and I just don't know why.

the picture quality was shit

kicking the grenade is straight out of his medal of honor citation. so is the bayonet injury through a dead body.

Berserker is going to be his magnum opus

i cant fucking wait

>I just saw Hacksaw Ridge and it was very good
Back in the day, people put more effort into shitposting. I miss the old days.

...

>Anything I don't like is shitposting!

mel is so based

This makes me uncomfortable for some reason

because you're chinese

Doss did more than that IRL.

he was trying to protect her from feral basketball americans. caring husband if you ask me, famalama

Mel is king. He perfectly embodies the racist alliance between the US and Australia

I'm a Mel Gibson fanboy, I loved every movie he directed (specially The Passion and Apocalypto) and I think Hacksaw Ridge was complete shit. There's literally ONE good scene in the movie, the one where the camera pans up and shows the place being bombarded. All the rest was generic and forgettable crap, specially the forced love story in the first half. It looks like Mel didn't put any passion or effort into the movie, I don't even know why he chose to direct it.

He did it so that the studio would finally let him make the movie he wanted to.

not according to real history books

I don't get this. Surely he has enough money to finance his own projects. I'm sure he'd be able to find a distributor when it's all finished.

To add on to your point, Mel Gibson is way too obsessed with violence. For a movie that centres around a guy who refuses to kill, he sure loves to focus on people killing people instead. The first battle sequence made this obvious. Instead, of focusing on the camera on Andrew's Garfield's character the whole time as he tries to rescue wounded soldiers, he instead focus on the other soldiers as they get violently killed.

Then there's the mass rescue scene. The big event that made Desmond Doss a recognized hero. It was reduced to a shitty, generic montage. After that, there's the glorification of the American soldiers mowing down Japanese soldiers in another montage and ends with the beheading of the Japanese general. At that point I just gave up.being invested in the movie.

If you want to watch a movie about the Pacific Theater, go watch Letters From Iwo Jima by Clint Eastwood instead. He's a far more mature director than Mel Gibson will ever be.

DC won an Oscar and Marvel never has.
Strange times we're living in, I guess.
