I'll Make a Man Out of You
in Chinese
sung by Jackie Chan

What more could you want?

Many Of Disney's stuff is supposedly better in german.

youtu.be/EC9Pkz9dPMU

damn, i didn't know i needed this in my life

I dunno, Jackie Chan is awesome and all but the original was manlier, as badass Jackie can be his voice never sounded manly to me and this is a music about bcoming a MAN.

Tarzan - Two Worlds (Spanish)
youtu.be/KDWZFoRX3ik

Wait a minute, that's the same singer than the original version... what the fuck?

dude bro son

youtube.com/watch?v=5yX7oiHMVF0

Motherfucking Phill Collins, user!
youtube.com/watch?v=8r4lIhegLPY

Wikipedia says he recorded it in English, Italian, German, Spanish, and French. That's nuts. I wonder how good they sound to fluent speakers.

I had no idea Jackie could sing. I'm impressed.

He sounds great in Spanish.

I'm Latino and I guarantee you that Phil Collins sings better than many of our interpreters. actually he remind me of Eros Ramazzotti.

youtu.be/E-u_uSJcWm0

what about songs that are far far far worse in other languages?
youtube.com/watch?v=fYuQOSx6DAM

whyyy

Jesus how awful

I always thought Ursula sounded much more sexy and menacing in Russian.

youtu.be/5FWu2H5s2XQ?t=50s

m.youtube.com/watch?v=3fBvwINDEcE
It,s pretty bassed in spanish too

this one's cheating because it's not a translation of a pre-existing song, but I just can't resist
youtube.com/watch?v=d8xoTBZrzko

youtube.com/watch?v=X6v7z9syees

>Castilian Spanish

But as a contrary

youtube.com/watch?v=nZk9Nn-U9sM

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

There's no fight. Only people from Spain like the way they speak.

Look deustchanon, a hundred other quality anime dub openings might make up for the holocaust, but they'll never make up for

so americans prefer Latin Spanish than Spanish-Spanish? to me they sound alike

Wait, how did Tarzan's parents actually die? Did the cut to the leopard indicate that it killed them? Why didn't it also eat baby Tarzan?

Yep, Spaniards ruin all the good songs with their accent.

"In the dark of the night" in russian
youtube.com/watch?v=907J-eQkjVU

the chinese intro for steven universe is horrible, the gems are fine but then, steven shows up and...

youtube.com/watch?v=1GO0MKn6G_w

Sorry, to be clearer: Of Spanish-speaking countries, Spain is the only one that likes Castilian Spanish.

They are different, like how American English is different from British English.

But still, there's not really a "Latin American Spanish". Pronunciation differs from country to country and from region to region. Wikipedia says it better than I can: wikiwand.com/en/Spanish_language_in_the_Americas

The mom gorilla arrived just in time to save tarzan, before Sabor got a chance to eat him. Tarzan was probably quiet until the cat wandered off thinking there was nothing else to kill. You see his parents bodies in the corner with a shotgun and bloody paw prints.

Tarzan's parents probably died trying to protect their baby. also I guess he was in the house when this happened, that's why he didn't die.

Oh then it is quite similar to Italian. I understand now.

youtube.com/watch?v=QEiAXPURh1o

>latin spanish
>like italian
no, you do not understand.

Which one is best?

youtube.com/watch?v=BS0T8Cd4UhA

I'm talking about the girls, French is qt

No my friend, you see. Italian also has many variations, from North to South there are various accents and ways of speaking it.

Yeah, that's not the same.

youtube.com/watch?v=xsK5sqlVDPc

This song is so fucking good.
>you'll never dance with your waifu

italian hasn't got variations. is an integrative language. regional dialects are/were totally different.
it was a big issue during 19-20 century.

I like Carmen Sarahí (Latin American Spanish).

I think it's interesting that they have videos of all these singers. It makes sense to record the original voice actors for animation purposes, but I don't think you'd need to record dub VAs. I wonder if shot them because they knew they were going to make this video beforehand or if they went back and shot the dubbers lip-syncing later.

Honestly the entire Russian dub of the movie is fantastic. Once Upon a December is probably my favorite song in that version

I'll probably get a lot of hate because this is such a loved song, but this:

youtube.com/watch?v=Uahl00duAUo

youtube.com/watch?v=IuIUR2IIbCU

I really enjoyed this entire movie in finnish, i struggle watching it with the english voice overs

Foreginers usually like the hungarian Whole New World: youtube.com/watch?v=mX3vk9FWPlE

Also I'll Make a Man out of You is great in any language I guess:
youtube.com/watch?v=XK2ZdGcL42k

Too bad hungarian dub is pretty average-bad nowadays. Let it go sounds average at best and the translation is trash.

who knew that the show made by weebs would have a good Japanese dub

youtube.com/watch?v=ESl3VVCGKQY

youtube.com/watch?v=yVCA2pke_uA

Robin Williams is great and all, but this is the superior version

>mfw One Piece had like 15 million theme songs after that one
>mfw every single one of them was shit
I don't care if you play it for 600 fucking episodes. If it's cool, don't fucking mess with it.

hells that Norwegian is already a sing-songs language m.youtube.com/watch?v=E1gHX-dZANo

for some reason villain soungs thend to sound better in german
youtube.com/watch?v=NcPjg8xea3Y

youtube.com/watch?v=XVlNbs7PaFc

i honestly thought that japanese people only watched jap movies, jap shows, and anime in their tv's

then how was gainax able to reference so many western cartoons in some of their anime ?

HAHA, time for SHIT
youtube.com/watch?v=VToCXaXz_s8

i know about that shit since astroboy, but in my mind japs only watch jap shit, or at least they prefer to

That's just because you don't know the changed lyrics, user.
youtube.com/watch?v=w2Fox6v-L8k

>Let us all fight together
>Let the Xiongnu become despair

>Become a manly man, don't admit defeat

fuck you, Norwegian is amazing

I want this voice.

GAY VIKINGS

Soo as a Mexican-German guy I have to say that while German is my first language and Germany has most often amazing casts, due to a long tradition of dubbing, most songs they do are sub par in comparison to others.
It mostly comes down to the translators in German most of the time insisting to write very formal and exact German translations and not being willing to let the characters sing naturally (out of songs for example EVERYONE is referred to as "Sie" eventhough most of the time its obvious "du" would be a better translation.)
For example in be prepared:
"A shining new ear is tip toeing nearer- And where do we feature?- JUST LISTEN TO TEACHER"
"The golden era sneaks nearer and nearer - AND WHATS IN IT FOR US? (also prenounced in "slang" that nobody uses with that kind of voice. If the hyenas had Ruhrpott accents I would buy it, but not with those voices). -
"I won't leave you out" (pretty much a line just added to keep a rhyme, but missing the arrogance and patronizing style of the original listen to teacher, which is underlined by the gesture).

Anyways, good songs from Latin America and Germany.

youtube.com/watch?v=lOnXlV_UIgI
Not better than the original, but pretty good.

youtube.com/watch?v=nZk9Nn-U9sM
Yeah, not Sup Forums, but really one of the best openings Germany ever produced.

wat

Just fuck up your voice with smoking, alcohol and coal senpai

youtube.com/watch?v=EEtbDvQK38Y

I am probably biased, but the Croatian version of On My Way sounds much better.

Oliver Dragojević 4 Lyfe.

You misspelled "Latinos"

>latino
ree, etc.

im a white ass fucking american and i can safely say latinos make spanish actually seem like an appealing language. spaniards just make it sound pretentious and almost as foul as french in one breath

I AM norwegian, you crust!
Our cartoons are notoriously horribly dubbed!

>to me they sound alike
The defining difference would be castillian having 'ce', 'ci' and 'z' be the 'th' in "something" (thus why we lisp, there's no english 'z' in spanish at all), while latin will change the 'th' into an 's', or some other sound.

Then you have that weird funny way they talk, kinda like singing, like english does. Castillian is more monotone, like finnish. Festive vs serious/rude

youtube.com/watch?v=H1Fv67HKdkQ

Based Richard Darbois

If I dance with a chick is cosplay it's almost the same.

Even though a large portion of the US army is hispanic and and they can speak Spanish, the US army doesn't count it as being bilingual because the US army's test is for Spanish like in Spain. Lots of butt hurt brown babies because the tests are very serious and they can't pass it

i liked it

You can think Hitler for that, they are superior.

youtube.com/watch?v=4lp1jsT6CU4

This.

This film was my shit as a kid.

youtube.com/watch?v=cvj3-MZO9Tw
I like the Japanese the most. actually Japanese has a natural advantage, because how it's phonetics is structured: a consonant is always followed by a vocal - you may not always find a rhyme, but it'll always flow in rhythm. On the other hand languages like Polish or Finnish (or any nordic/slavic actually... my native lang is Russian btw) struggle because 2, 3 or even 4 consonants can stack in one word...
youtube.com/watch?v=DJZyGJCbtjU
youtube.com/watch?v=-U8jLrpErmk
youtube.com/watch?v=1RYrvECmSao
not exactly made to sound melodic.

youtube.com/watch?v=75gaQGwaQ-c

youtube.com/watch?v=wmMgFDoTLl8

Not as bad as I expected it to be from reading your post.

youtube.com/watch?v=rJiOD0UBtrA

I live in Germany and I hate their dubs, because there is like one single VA agency here and every tv, cartoon, movie, show or whatever is dubbed by the same guys... even if you watch some 20yo reruns they are still there. they may be not the worst VAs but they do everything with the same expressions and intonations. Gott sei dank, they can't sing therefore are forced to hire actual singers for the songs and intros.
youtube.com/watch?v=NCC_-1gVE5Q

That's why the old dub version of Ariel is often preferred.

That being said I think they improved on some of the weird lyrics of Be Prepared

Gonna post some in BR-Portuguese

Tarzan - Two Worlds
youtube.com/watch?v=K_dKhxw2MCg

Oliver & Company - Streets of Gold
youtube.com/watch?v=C4igGcP5jxs

Brave Little Toaster - B-Movie
youtube.com/watch?v=r_uG05sBaSo

The Brave Little Toaster - Cutting edge
youtube.com/watch?v=1fzfBoZXpn8

Brave Little Toaster - Worthless
youtube.com/watch?v=rH7DRv1k-wk

Treasure Planet - I'm still here v1
youtube.com/watch?v=3O-tVyGNlmU

Treasure Planet - I'm still here v2
youtube.com/watch?v=at6p4RMtKAE

Spirit - You Can't Take Me
youtube.com/watch?v=Up1azeLBBnE

Lion King - Be Prepared
youtube.com/watch?v=Uahl00duAUo

101 Dalmatians - Cruella De Vil
youtube.com/watch?v=EH14uk-CROE

The Great Mouse Detective - Oh Ratigan
youtube.com/watch?v=ekSUn1KuzgU
(I love this one)

The Great Mouse Detective - Let Me Be Good To You
youtube.com/watch?v=1QETE9Q7PE0

He can sing, too?

Does anyone else really like seeing how lyrics are adapted into other languages to fit meter, rhyming, and local idioms?

Except for Japanese translations, because Japan somehow thinks not rhyming is okay.

I do, if the adaptation has managed to be at least melodic in its own way (not asking to be the same as original ofc) - then I would check how well it also manages to convey the same meaning. if it sounds meh idc for localization value as well.

Meu negão. The dub is god tier for that song.

Speaking of which

youtube.com/watch?v=wDDMS_4EiMo

youtube.com/watch?v=RnuPcoaZjd4

Friend Like Me is god damn glorious in Finnish.youtube.com/watch?v=TjhCZHxsSlo

"Original Language" dub time?

youtube.com/watch?v=2EaUFqwnzC4
Infernal (Hellfire) - French

youtube.com/watch?v=jsD7kg3Y5io
Be Prepared - Zulu

youtube.com/watch?v=D-aLR0Co5cU
Bare Necessities - Hindi

youtube.com/watch?v=B09tQQkd_nw
Go the Distance - Greek

youtube.com/watch?v=leD6zf0tOJ4
When You Believe - Hebrew

People often suggest the Arabic dubs of Aladdin, but I don't actually find them all that good. Same with Infernal, actually, but I rarely see that posted. The original Hellfire in English was just really fucking good too, to be fair. Be Prepared in Zulu, Bare Necessities in Hindi, When You Believe in Hebrew, and a lot of the Hercules songs in Greek sound very good and more fit the OP topic.

Two Worlds sounds fucking amazing

i am portuguese and i remember watching the BR dubs of Disney classics, brazillian dubs are based as fuck, especially Robin Hood

I didn't know that. thanks for the info!

this one is pretty good aswell

youtube.com/watch?v=MyKBTVMorxE

The Czech version of "He Lives in You 'is pretty good.

youtu.be/gSB-zon6JE4

It triggers me that this isn't sung in a Spanish accent.

Anyway, youtube.com/watch?v=lJgES_VvRSE

I wouldn't say it's better, since the original is really fucking good, but it definitely adds something the original lacks.

Wow, I heard the orgininal yesterday and it was trash for the most part. Despite the inherent lack of an actual song to work with, this is pretty fucking good. Whoever's voicing Ruber here is fantastic.

youtube.com/watch?v=KWs00YVECmc

Translating stuff into Hebrew is really hard, but when it's done well, it's great.

youtube.com/watch?v=XKIhyNH99yg (Bare necessities)

youtube.com/watch?v=bZqFQeiz21c (Strangers like me)

youtube.com/watch?v=5_iZ6oI2tlE (Zero to hero)

youtube.com/watch?v=LCynYD25RAE (I won't say I'm in love)

A lot of dubbers fall to the trap of trying to convey the lyrics TOO accurately, at the cost of the flow of the song. I prefer changing the lyrics and keeping to melody.

Any place where I can download animated films subbed in German or watch them online?
