Don't

Do you want to get spoiled?

No

First movie it's not Jason, it's his mom.
He doesn't get the mask until the third movie.

Have fun.

Stop watching when you finish Jason Takes Manhattan. The New Line movies besides the remake are awful.

Watch them all. Don't listen to these naysaying faggots who cherry pick their favorites and disregard the rest. They're all equally great and equally stupid in their own right.

You are small time.

You need to dig into the Expanded Universe.

Watch all of Jason.
Read the Jason novels.
Watch all of Freddy.
Watch all of Ash.
Read the Evil Dead omnibuses.
Watch Freddy vs. Jason.
Read Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash.
Play the video games.
Play MK9 with Freddy and then MKX with Jason.
Then download and play Terrordrome.

You're welcome.

The 3rd one has nothing to do with the others, its about some weird cult using masks to kill kids for some reason.

Are there actually Novels?

Don't wanna get too off topic but Halloween III is waaaay better than 5, Curse, H20, and Resurrection. Such a criminally underrated movie. The soundtrack was great as well.

You should know that The Final Chapter > Jason Takes Manhattan > Jason Lives > Jason X > A New Beginning > Freddy vs. Jason > Part III > Remake > Part II > Part I > The New Blood > Jason Goes to Hell

Yeah, but they're just adaptations of the films.

Halloween 3 is unironically my favorite Halloween movie, and I love at least half of the Michael Myers ones. I'm a sucker for the small-town-in-on-the-ruse movies and it's got that great mixture of cheesiness ("Where do you want to sleep, Dr. Challis?") and creepiness.

>The New Blood that low
>The absolute best Jason design in the entire franchise

"No!"

You have objectively shit taste and should immediately neck yourself.

You are about to waste a lot of your life.

Never understood why Jason Takes Manhattan gets so much hate. It had memorable characters, a cool intro/outro song, some funny scenes, and 80s New York City as a setting (even though most of it was shot in Vancouver).

They're mostly terrible. Like way worse than you expect them to be.

By the time you get to Part 6 you'll be wondering how these movies ever became so famous.

Oh, and Jason isn't even in three of them.

Everyone always rates that one low. This is indeed the best looking Jason design, Tina is a fucking cutie, and Jason's invisible shack-o-weapons that he keeps going back to off screen to grab killing tools (a railroad spike, a tree trimmer) puts it high for me.

It has tone issues coming from the other movies, it's almost slapstick comedy.

That's halloween 3 dipshit

I agree. It's really solid because john carpenter still had his hands on the franchise up until that point

I felt The New Blood would have been far better if Tina didn't have telekinesis. That was beyond the suspension of disbelief for me. And I'm one of the rare people who think Kane Hodder sort of sucks as Jason. Richard Brooker will always be my favorite Jason.

Maybe beacause 75% of the movie is on the fucking boat to Manhatten.

Friday part 8: Jason Takes a Boat

It did give us that great Arsenio Hall interview, though.

You missed Friday the 13th The Game.

Aside from the first two, they are all arguably parodies of themselves. Three is when they start to go downhill. Not only does it have hokey 3-D bullshit, but it showcases some of the worst acting in cinematic history.

At least by part 5 or 6 the movies become pretty much all-in on the joke.

>You missed Friday the 13th The Game.
>Play the games.

I would've thought people would be smart enough to get that "the games" implies multiple titles but hey, there's always gotta be at least one.

Best girl is in Part 4, be sure to keep an eye out for her.

You overestimate the eyequeu of this boards residents

Watch that Crystal Lake Memories doc (it's like 4+ hours). All of these movies were cash grabs that copied whatever was hot at the time. Part 1 was a ripoff of the camp massacre movies that predated it. Part 6 was masturbation whenever horror fans started to self identify and get really into their cultural niche. Part 7 took advantage of the supernatural movies of the time. Even the remake came out after the (pretty good) TCM remake and the other remakes. These movies are best experienced in the 90s when you're a kid and now have nostalgia on your side. Most of these kids playing catch up today won't appreciate them for what they were.

yeah, they're boring as fuck, watch elm street instead

I'd add that these movies do a great job showcasing how many people were named "Paul" back in the day.

At least one what? You just got so fucking retard specific about the universe of Jason but when you get corrected on one of your mistakes it's all the sudden not a big deal to be extremely faggoty detailed?

Kys

>implying I haven't seen elm street

Hope you're talking about Trish.

you'd get a lot more out of rewatching elm street than doing a friday the 13th marathon

just watched the second one and literally nothing happens for the first 3/4s of the movie

>corrected on one of your mistakes

Except I didn't make any mistakes. YOU'RE the idiot who either misread it or couldn't infer the meaning.

How laughable.

Not to mention that the "gore" in these movies would be tame on basic cable nowadays.

the first movie is a cheap attempt to remake John Carpenter's Halloween in the woods. It's not bad, but it relies on the twist of the ever-present "shape" to be finally revealed as Pamela Voorhees the camp cook who has grievences (won't spoil here but it's an old fucking film). The problem is that every time they had Pamela lurking in the background like Mike Myers it ruined the whole feel of the film and it breaks the 'twist' that this brutal no-nonsense killer with boots and a hunting knife is actually a psychotic mother. So there are no clues to Pamela in the final film, and it gets almost comical when Pamela can't perform her great feats of strength and deliberate destruction on the final girl when Pamela is revealed. I won't spoil the ending but your mileage will vary with FT13 part one. If you take it for what it is and get invested in the Pamela's reasons for going insane the film can still be compelling: all the mindless murder and quick, deliberate kills that seem to have no rhyme or reason behind it other than 'the blood curse' is finally revealed. It's kind of tragic and still mysterious, especially the final scene where the final girl gets a surprise in the lake.

Part two continues to develop the sparse lore and turns it into a legend, be warned that the iconic mask DOES NOT APPEAR in this film. Frankly, once you get used to it, this version of Jason is still one of the best (if not the best) iterations. The ending is ambiguous but by then the tone and feel of the film as almost a reverse Beowulf (Grendel's revenge) is effective and fun.

Part Three is hampered by the 3d gimick that will annoy you at times but it also has the most fleshed out victims and finally the iconic mask. This is the Jason most people remember. Honestly, I'd say 3 and 6 are my favorites. Jason is very simple and very frightening.

*will continue describing the other films shortly*

ANOES is not consistent at all. The only good ones are 1, 3, and New Nightmare (coincidentally, those are the only ones where Wes Craven had a direct involvement).

i always forget about jason goes to hell, it's as if my mind is repressing all memories of that movie, i remember all the other ones but i can never remember having seen it

>It's not bad, but it relies on the twist of the ever-present "shape" to be finally revealed as Pamela Voorhees the camp cook who has grievences (won't spoil here but it's an old fucking film
>The twist is that Pamela, Jason's mother, is the killer
>"won't spoil here"
>Literally says that Pamela is revealed as the twist

What did he mean by this?

Best Girl

still a lot more enjoyable than f13

>the games
For being such a faggot piece of shit you'd think you would list the games as well. Lata bitch

In hindsight, it's honestly quite obvious it was Mrs. Voorhees. They talked about her a lot throughout the movie, and she was the only character mentioned who didn't appear as of yet. I don't know how anyone thought it was Crazy Ralph at first.

The big problem with F13 Part I is it's awful second act, it's so boring. The kills don't look very good as well.

You know it! Her dancing was so sexy! I love rebel characters as well.

While 5 probably had the best tits (if we're going by size) and most nudity (because it was directed by a smut director), I wore out the VHS tape during the scene when Terry disrobes and gets into, and out of, the lake. Her not wearing any underwear was like cum fuel for my adolescent dick.

Oh no, I didn't list the individual Jason novels either. How will he ever know which ones I am referring to? Church of the Divine Psychopath? The Jason Strain? Planet of the Beast?

You're a joke.

No their not. There's adaptations of Parts 1,2,3, and 6. Then there's some young adult novels that take place after Jason Goes to Hell and involves people being possessed by Jason's hockey mask. There's also after that several books published by Black Flame that tell new stories. There's also a series of Jason X books. All the novels though are rare and expensive now.

Oh yeah, I forgot about those.

>involves people being possessed by Jason's hockey mask
What in the fuck?

The game has a girl based on her, and she's best girl too.

Part Four is more of a attempted star vehicle, you have Corey Feldman and Crispin Glover and bunch of other people chewing scenery for most of it - none of it has anything to do with plot or develops any characters. Jason seems to have been neutered somewhat by censors because by now normies were noticing these slasher flicks and the MPAA was going after them for excessive nudity and violence. Strangely, this film focuses on the nudity, even including vintage public domain pornography. The worst aspect is the ending, which steals from part two only does it clumsier and making far less sense. Jason should have stayed dead.

Part 5 is not a Friday the 13th movie. There is nothing about this movie that feels like any before or since. Tommy Jarvis exists only as a red herring. It's kind of a garbage film, worst in the entire series. Jason X and Manhattan are at least fun and funny.

Part 6 is one of the fan's favorites. Probably the quintessential FT13 movie. Other than the opening scene being slightly comical, it transforms the legend of Jason into the mythos of Jason. Tommy Jarvis is actually pretty interesting in this film, sort of like Loomis in Halloween or Helsing in the Dracula tale. Jason is scary and unstoppable like he always should have been. If you can ONLY see one ft13 movie see this one. They always recap the lore so you don't need to slog through 1,2,3, and 4. (Don't watch 5 - completely skippable)

7 - a fan favorite but not mine. It's Carrie v Jason. Kane Hodder gives a lot of personality under the mask but to me the film just feels far too derivative of Firestarter (drew berrymore film) and Carrie. Stephen King and FT13 do not mix very well.

Manhattan - pretty fun. They don't spend a lot of time in NYC. Arguably worth watching until Jason and his victims finally wash ashore. Kane Hodder gives grace to a frankly goofy rendition of Jason. Ending is kinda dumb.

Jason Goes to Hell - a very stupid movie where Jason is hardly in it.

>Look up Jason book on amazon
>$473.01

Surely that's just a joke, right?

>One other used copy
>$10,000.00 + $3.99 shipping

Not even joking

amazon.com/Friday-13th-Church-Divine-Psychopath/dp/1844161811

Sounds like a straight rip of splatterhouse which was a rip of Jason to begin with

Jason X - a very stupid movie but Jason is in it a lot.

Freddy vs Jason - a silly movie for fans. Not bad at all.

Reboot - boring

Season of the Witch is significantly better than anything in the series except the original and Zombie's Halloween II

Which was the reason it was so good.

To each his own, but part 5 is very much a F13 movie. It's somebody stalking the woods chopping people up in (mildly) imaginative ways while titties flop around. It also has a slew of memorable characters. This is way better than parts 8, X, and hell, and I even like hell.

Damn I thought I was the only one who liked Zombie's Halloween II. Hated it when I first watched it, but repeated viewings caused it to grown on me.

Don't forget the television show that had absolutely nothing to do with the movies.

It's about an antique store that sells cursed items. I think they gave a half-hearted attempt to tie it in by showing the mask in the first episode, but from then one it has nothing to do with the mythos.

i was just explaining why the 'twist' doesn't work. The actual reason the first movie is compelling are reasons I didn't spoil.

if it ain't Jason Voorhees it ain't a FT13 film. Not human being can do what Jason does. If it were Tommy who snapped and imitated Jason at least that would make sense because Tommy met him and arguably has a conflict of personality with Jason, but having it be some random chode was so disappointing and pointless. It turned FT13 into the ghostface killer who can be anyone. It simply wasn't in the spirit of the series. Manhattan, Hell and X are still in the spirit of the original movies. Most importantly: they feature the actual Jason.

I've saw a bit of that one time. Had no idea it had anything to do with F13

What the fuck

I love the original Halloween II. I like the fact it starts immediately after the first original ends

>Richard Brooker will always be my favorite Jason.
Same for me. Human Jason from parts II and III is the best.

There's a censored version of it, right? I'm a fan of the franchise but I've only watched The New Blood once and I remember all of the death scenes being butchered to cut all the graphic parts. I need to find an unrated version and rewatch it because it does seem to have some of the most fun deaths in the entire series

>hese movies are best experienced in the 90s when you're a kid and now have nostalgia on your side. Most of these kids playing catch up today won't appreciate them for what they were.

Couldn't have said it better myself. That's exactly my case. I'd never recommend them to anyone that's younger than me cause they'll only find it retarded/lame

Part III is unironically my favorite, with Jason Lives a close second. Must be because i've watched it so much when I was little. I need to rewatch it nowadays to see how it ranks

V also features the best pair of tits of the whole franchise

finally someone shows love for bag on head Jason. i love him in part II desu

You only chose it because of the game didn't you

:^)

I watched the original a few years ago due to boredom. It was pretty good mainly due to the tweest at the end. I actually watched the reboot or latest one that was made after playing the game and holy fuck was i bored out of my god damn mind, i mean im not expecting much but none of the kills were that good and also jason uses a fucking bow, stands atop a house for no real reason, the way he dies in the end you can fucking call from a mile away.

I just didnt like how calculated he was acting. Nigger had camp lights working, traps set up. Nah fuck that, dont watch that latest movie

>Part Three is hampered by the 3d gimick

if you are unconfortable with the female boobies, no not watch

part 8 is bad but I like it
it has a campy feeling and the theme song is great
but still it's so cheap
they use 4 different kids for fuck sake

Listen we can all agree Jason Goes To Hell is absolute shit. That movie is a webm.

part 5 is literally the mythos of Jason empowering a man to take revenge. It's like what they tried to do in part 9 but the series wasn't so off the rails yet. The theme gets tied home with the Tommy cliffhanger at the end but to be honest I'm glad they abandoned that. Overall the ending is way worse than the jabroni Jason with the sweet mask.

Im with you, i dont like Hodders Jason.

For me part 3,4 and 6 are the best Jasons

They suck

It's shit
