I'm actually just looking for that piece that says they thought they were going to make 2 billion on one film

And that film they were so confident would make 2 billion? Tobey Maguire Spiderman vs Andrew Garfield Spiderman.

Yeah that. Looking for that email

ghostbusters.wikia.com/wiki/Ghostcorps

And apparently they still are totally batshit.

Jesus christ. There won't be anything of my childhood left when they're done.

How can Sony's video game/technology departments be so successful yet their film department is run by literal retards and crazy people?

As batshit insane as WB's current plans for their DC sequels and spin-offs

They wanted to make an all women superhero team-up movie using Spider-Man characters codenamed Glass Ceiling.

I think Sony's were actually a little crazier.

They are giant conglomerate where the separate divisions have not much to do with each other, I guess

I imagine people working on PlayStation internals don't really talk with people working on James Bond movie

You could just watch the first two seasons of Real Ghostbusters again.
And beat it to Janine.

They legitimately thought about an Aunt May movie for a second, and entertained the idea of making it a spy movie. So you tell me, OP.

Legit, if they could talk to Fox to a Wolverine movie with Peter parents it would make more sense

>tfw when Sony adapts Mark Millar's masterpiece, Trouble, featuring a young Aunt May being a crazy slut.

>It's a Netflix miniseries in the style of Jessica Jones meets softcore Cinemax porn

...

it would still make some serious nostalgia bucks, but that was a fucking longshot

>we certainly saved the brand

I'd masturbate to that.

>a woman in charge of grammar

>Doing Carnage before introducing Venom
>Spider-Men with Tobey and Andrew
>ASM 3 entirely animated
>Just return to Spidey 4 altogether
>ASM 4 into a 2 part film

Crazy ideas, senpai. Spider-Men sounds cool though.

They give jobs to their relatives

I don't like the "Peter's parents are spies" plot, but that was a good issue.

how much cocaine was used prior to writing and thinking this was all a great idea?

Andrew Garfield in Civil War probably could have worked desu

Obviously they'd need to edit the scene where Tony meets Peter first time accordingly but at least it would have already established Spider-Man

This was embarrassing to read.

What is this supposed to be?

Leaked email of Sony's plan for ASM franchise

Feel like it was just wrote by someone browsing this board

> The Russo Brothers could have directed a Ghostbusters sequel

This seems ridiculously fake. Regardless of how stupid the grammar, expectations, or anything else are, the biggest issue here is that they're suggesting someone at Sony thought they could negotiate Marvel into giving them Thor.

Sony is JUST that stupid

Nothing fake here. Dunno what rock you where under when sony had their email hacked. You have no idea how aweful these emails are. Hope someone posts one about how great spidey would be with EDM pumping in background.

Cause the tech department is in Japan while theb film division is in America. And Americans are stupid

Link. Again this shit is seems too fake. It's cringe definitely feels Sup Forums-esque

Where have you been? That was actually one of Amy's better emails.

What I want to know, is why she's still attached to Spider-Man

The fact that she got to the top speaks volumes in the first place. She would still have that position if it weren't for the leaks. They only fired her so the people she insulted would keep working with Sony.

>fake

It's not fake, this really happened

fuckoff newfaggot

that's honestly too brilliant to fail

That would've made great use of the Spider-verse event.

She's fired but still attached to Spider-Man? Why isn't she out on the streets?

Didn't we establish that she is fucking Fiege?

Oh man you can read some of these emails were they're interacting with Feige and you can just tell he wanted to call them all retards.

Post them senpai

this is the same company that funded the prosecution AND the defence during the napster trial.

lrmonline.com/news/marvel-and-sony-go-head-to-head-in-these-leaked-emails-regarding-the-amazing-spider-man-2

Based Marvel.

Explain

Amy Pascal also bought the rights to the Zoey Quinn story.

Just putting that out there.

She greenlit the new Ghostbusters
>Zoe Quinn
Who?

Gamergate. You know, the sjw thing Sup Forums had.

What the fuck is gamergate?

...

That was a story all about how Sup Forums got flipped turned upsidedown now I'd like to take a minute because sit down mane, I'll tell you how it wrecked shit for games...

Longstory short, it's something that involved Zoe fucking five guys to give her game a good review, she got outed and it led to a couple of outrage regarding social justice, five guys burgers, harrassment, the divide between two chan boards' Sup Forumsidya board, a cute oc, a lot of memes regarding journalism for video games and how feminists are trying to ruin everything.

Think of it as Sup Forums's Spider-Woman cover controversy only extended to a year and a half with more drama outside of tumblr.

It's an old topic. /qa/ would divulge the info better.

comicbookmovie.com/spider-man/marvel-president-wanted-to-burn-the-amazing-spider-man-2s-script-after-a112638

you'd think people who have a yearly income of several hundred thousand dollars, at least, could set aside a couple days and some money to buy an anthology of the characters they're trying to adapt.

is it just me? Or does everyone else look at the shit hollywood pulls and thinks "maybe if you didn't shoehorn a romance plot into every fucking movie you make you could free up 20 minutes so the narrative doesn't feel so fucking crushed. The type of woman who wants to see a romance film is gonna go see a romance film. You're not bringing her into a action block buster by making heartthrob mc ironpecs kiss an actress."

Besides, women looking for romance is probably just content with mild teasing and shirtless scenes.

that too it's [CURRENT YEAR] why don't we put fujoshits in the seat with gay teasing? If you're gonna pander at least change it up a bit.

well there not wrong it is a huge property it should be worth at least 5 billon

Successfully done in Civil War, and there was barely any romance in that. Still had an obligatory kissing scene though.

to be fair spidy would be cool with an edm fight scene

its just she said it in the worst possible way

>How can Sony's video game/technology departments be so successful

It's not even that, their computer, music players, and phones all cratered. It's LITERALLY just the marketing power of the Playstation 4 that helped them claw out from a 75% chance of bankruptcy. And even the playstation brand isn't a "sure thing" as Playstation 3 sales were completely abysmal until they dropped the price to under $300 several years later into the console's life.

The ONLY branch that has been consistently bankable has been their insurance branch.

what the fuck were they thinking with the ps3s original price

The PS2 and PS1's success.

That sounds awful

Their cell processor is what made the PS3 cost so much, and they simply assumed if they sell it at a price that's a little under how much it cost to manufacture a console it would be fine

It was not fine.

Didn't they end up winning in the end though and gaming has bit a little bit better than it was a few years ago because of it?

I love the hyperbole and how overdramatic this pussy is when the movie somehow manages to being critically and audience received better than the last DC and X-Men movie, which is saying a lot.

The fact that they thought an entire Spiderman Cinematic Universe was viable says something about their judgement, imo.

Aside from Spiderman, what other heroes did they have access to? Because it seemed like it wouldn't be much of a universe if all characters and movies were ultimately connected to Spiderman and took place in NYC.

"The Amazing Spiderman" was pretty good, but its sequel was disappointing.

Still a lot of controversies in videogame regarding censorship, so there are no winners and losers in this controversy, only small tastes of victory and tears for both sides.

not really, in terms of user friendliness consoles are in a far worse position than they ever have been. Time was you'd pop in your disk, wait a minute or so and then you could play.

Now the game needs to install, oh and update.

that can take a solid hour. Sometimes two hours or more.

I've seen PC games with less set up.

Oh how about the day 1 patches? Now you can get AAA releases that are literally broken and unplayable for 2 months until they're finally fixed.

No I don't give a fuck how nice the graphics are or how much processing power the Xbone and PS4 boast. they're gaming PCs with less functionality, anemic libraries, and borderline abusive relationships with thier user base.

Steam is only barely better and even then it's only because they have refunds.

But Andrew is shit user

>I think it is potentially, very dangerous to undermine the significant events of the Raimi trilogy

But by that logic JGL should be in BvS. Who cares if it's a reboot now. Agree with him about not killing Gwen off so soon though.

It's all in the execution

I don't care how fucking stupid it would've been, it'd be nice just to see Tobey play Spider-Man one last time, oh well.

I thought he was pretty charming in the first "Amazing Spiderman".

It's from Wikileaks if you're skeptical.

Even with all the batshit Spidey stuff from the leaked emails, my favorite BY FAR is the Channing Tatum email. Solid fucking gold.

Everything's still awful, but at least the scummiest shitheads and limp-wristed orbiters have outed themselves.

>How batshit insane was Sony's original plans for this?
Three words: Spider-Man Cinematic Universe

Doubtful, unless she is literally fucking Fiege. With a dildo. In the ass.
She's still a producer. Cause Sony doesn't care. They only fired her to help their public image. Not because she's incompetent.

>maybe if you didn't shoehorn a romance plot into every fucking movie you make
B plots make movies work. The problem is that studios think literally and make them actual romances instead of trust relationships which work just as well.

> Dylan O'Brien definite option for new Peter

Or his nemesis Mushface

>But by that logic JGL should be in BvS.
Yes, how dare Alan Fine not take into account something that would happen four years in the future.

Channing Tatum was going to be Venom?

Post it user

this

Fine was probably just confused by some comments that Arad made that implied the ASM movies were in continuity with the Rami movies

>Principals include Ivan Reitman, Dan Aykroyd, Reitman's longtime Montecito partner Tom Pollock, Ali Bell and Alex Plapinger, and Sony.

No wonder Dan Aykord endorsed the reboot, he fucking soldout

You're either dumb or someone trying to damage control for Sony. Google Sony wikileaks and then use their search engine to find terms.

The difference between Raimi's Spider-Man and Nolan's Batman is that Nolan intended to conclude his Dark Knight films. Raimi was going to do Spider-Man 4. And keep in mind, Spider-Man 3 was not that terrible at the box office the way ASM2 or Fant4stic or Ghost Rider 2 or whatever were. There was no real need for a reboot.

On top of that, like said, Avi Arad and possibly others were saying that ASM1 would take place during the Raimi trilogy.

Midnight's Edge has done a good job recapping the history of Spider-Man on film and the depths of Sony's retardation
youtube.com/watch?v=cqMGa4QoqCI
youtube.com/watch?v=TNMU0ji2wp8

Reminds me of Kevin Feige's notes for ASM2

Jesus fucking christ, Sony Pictures is legitimately insane. Why did they have such a hard on for a Venom spinoff, anyways? Like to the point of almost sabotaging their gravy train.

Venom's a famous villain and antihero in the Spiderverse. CG monster Spider-Man and symbiote that has all the power and none of the responsibility.

Marketing-wise, that shit would sell but they probably would either make Venom less horrific or adapt Flash-Venom.

This is all true. But still, man it's disheartening to see how far Sony was willing to fuck their staff over just to set up spinoff after spinoff.

Although I guess that wasn't the weirdest part of the story, technically if it wasn't for Kim Jong Un and Seth Rogen, Spidey probably wouldn't have made it in the MCU.

>mfw Harry Osborn stopped the Sony Spider-Man cinematic universe from happening.

It was, even when Gamergate was right (which was often) you could tell that it was basically just the same as a Sup Forums raid. But "serious".
