what do you think of the thought? And what's your own situation? I mean, what languages can you use?

I see. I read an article about the languages you said on the wikipedia and it says that the speakers of konkani tend to immigrate and thus they have to study the languages of the place where they moved. I assume you are the typical case.
Daniel Lee
Nah, I mean, most of us lived on west coast. During the independence, 3 states were formed along the west coast. All 3 states got significant ( 500k+) konkani speakers. The education depends on state. My state's main language Is Marathi. The other state's Kannada and Malayalam. We had to learn main language of state, two official languages( Hindu and English) and konkani at home. Its the same everywhere. One state has one language spoken by majority of the people and 2-4 minority languages. It was always like that.
Kayden Sanders

gotcha. and when I take what you said above into consideration, I find it out that the speakers of konkani, which is now regarded as just a spoken language (in Goa this seems to be an offical language, but in Munbai not so as you say.), decrease recently(once 500k but now 170k). How do you feel this?cannot it be helped?

Got Dutch, German, English and French in highschool because of "muh tradepartners". Did have a month of Latin and Old Greek but I can't remember anything from that except that I know when something is either Old Greek or Latin based in science names and shit.
It's not that special here, but we all have shitty accents. Even the lowest educated speak somewhat English because of tourism.
Christopher Turner

with regard to tourism, even in Japan, the poorest nation in command of English, they can more or less make themselves understood. I heard that the educational system in Europe is different than the one in Japan, for the former is communication-oriented and the latter is interpretation-oriented. Yes what I said at OP is derived from this system I guess.
Ah I see, that makes sense. However I still wonder why you used the past tense in the sentence "All three states~speakers" which evoked my conception that the number of the speakers decrease.
wait m8, is it a meme? oh shit I exposed my newfagness.
Daniel Carter
Russian is my native language, I surely know English, I also know German. I tried to learn Sanskrit, Finnish and Latin while I was in school, but bailed out (switched to German as it was more useful)
My IQ is above average, I participated in various school contents, my best results are: got #3rd place in Chemistry, 2nd in math, 2nd in phyisics, 1st in computer science. I also participated in city contents (math & physics) and was in top5, and even in region contests in phyisics.
I think I have no issues with languages thanks to good memory & high IQ.
I envy you m8 for your competence. in Japan(more technically in Japanese mind) what you say sounds too arrogant to hear cos Japanese values modesty, but in this global era it is such persons as you who have the ability and show it to the others propely that matter more.
Dominic Gutierrez
I haven't talked to a lot of Japanese tourists here as they're afraid of everything. But the ones I talked to are good enough in English. But that's a small sample size from personal experience.

I'am fluent in German, English and Dutch. I can read/write and speak Spanish, but listening is quite hard. Since i know Spanish i also have some knowlege of French, Portugese and Italian. I can also write and read Greek, Kyrillic, Hangul, Hiragana/Katakana, elder futhark and Arabic - But i can't understand the meaning of the language they are written in.
Ayden Hill
yep, I am one of nip people afraid to talk with foreigners, and I guess from my own experiences that those who are willing to speak foreign languages are the great persons in that they are educated enough and have the courage to speak without fearing failure. in this way we may call them the elites who lead the nation.

The key to success is hard work. I don't play video games now and I didn't play back then. I spent 60%-80% of free time either in school's library or I were reading books / journals at home. While I was in school / uni I attended extra courses for subjects that I was interested in.

It's not worth it. Really.
>are you really fun in such a life without any distractions that looks to the Banal too tiring? Once you get a job and got decent $$$ it's worth it. You can have fun, lots of fun. For the record, I have JZA80 MT & Z33 MT cars, and sport-tourer bike with FI (yep that stands for forced-induction, I had lots of bikes, including 600cc and 1000cc Japanese sport bikes, I did lots of track days). Two years ago I bought a TIG welder and learnt how to weld. This year I had some practice on a lathe. My next plan is to build DDC/DUC HF transceiver. Does that sound fun?

It's the only option to keep yourself fit, both mentally and physically.
I have questions for native Japanese citizen as a French-Canadian living in Montreal.
How do you like it where you live? Could you describe the surrounding area?
What do you do to occupy your free time? What do you do to entertain yourself and how do you work on improving yourself?
How is the quality of the food that you're eating? Do you consider it healthy and tasty?
Bitterness aside, how are people bounding together in Japan? Pub? Club?
Do you consider the Japanese youth to be spiritual in any sense? (religious, practice meditation, have a meaning to life other than making money)
If you have any questions you would like to ask back it would be a pleasure of mine to answer so.

Hi Saudade

貴方ご機嫌は如何?
Noah Bailey
I was born in Hiroshima and now live in Tokyo as a student as I said above. I like the place, even though there are too much crowd. My area is the suburban residence land and this is in a way typical scenery of Japanese urban life. In my case I spend my time in fapping, wasting in sleeping, and playing games and watching anime. Because of my poverty I cannot enjoy my hobby fully(I love trains and I wish I could enjoy traveling by it). As for improvement of myself, ah...maybe it is regarded as one method to go to university. I love Japanese style of cuisine, I fine it tasty. WHO said once that Japanese traditional dishes are in almost all way healthy and tasty except for excessive amount of salt.
We often gather together and go to some amusement places like "game-center", "karaoke", "Izakaya", casual restaurants and so on.
The Japanese youth make little of religion or other spiritual things seriously. the so-called JK and Jap girls often look upon prophecies as important(you may have heard ”血液型占い”), but in Japan now religion doesn't have any meaning but the mother of conventions(custom).
As for french-Canadian, I'll ask you whether you have a will to beg for independence of quebec.
For the progressive your institutions seem ideal and a model which should be introduced to Japan asap. As for Finland, your nation is now being talked about because in the context of comparison of culture in Scandinavia, Moomin is adopted in the National Center Test(this is the primary entrance exam for National University and this is also used for application to private/non-national public universities).

>How do you like it where you live? Could you describe the surrounding area? 1hour from Shinjuku, the center of the Tokyo, by train. Bleak, boring suburban area where buildings are rarely higher than 3 story. >What do you do to occupy your free time? What do you do to entertain yourself and how do you work on improving yourself? Posting here or reading books, mainly about history or others. To know we have kept being same idiot animals for centuries and centuries. >How is the quality of the food that you're eating? Do you consider it healthy and tasty? Maybe more than most of other countries, but price is not so reasonable. Most inexpensive stuff here would be alcohol, I assure. >Bitterness aside, how are people bounding together in Japan? Pub? Club? Unfortunately, I am not a specialist of that category. >Do you consider the Japanese youth to be spiritual in any sense? (religious, practice meditation, have a meaning to life other than making money) Never, other than Netouyos or Lefties who devote their lives to subverting their intangible enemies. >If you have any questions you would like to ask back it would be a pleasure of mine to answer so. Only Romanian and English at a native level. I can kinda (but not really) understand spoken Japanese and, with the help of a dictionary, read it too. In school I'd studied French, but it never stuck with me; I can read it though and understand it in written form.
Wish I could learn languages for a living, but I will most likely end up a teacher or something like that.
What do the Japanese think of Romania, other than "muh Dracula", that is if we're even talked about there at all. I heard Shinto Abe's been here recently, dunno the specifics though.
