What were the orcs in Moria actually doing? They just hang out in the lower levels doing what? Are they digging? Do they live with the Balrog? Were they going to go help Sauron eventually or were they completely cut off from the actual war?

They formed a religion around the Balrog and stayed out of the war.

They are functionally immortal vermin. Steal weapons, breed, kill, bow to will of magic overlords

The agents of darkness live in a heirachy of fear and are subservient to the stronger forces. Balrog is like a god to them

What were the hobbits in the shire doing? Why was their technology so primitive? Were they just hanging out in literal holes in the ground?

What were humans doing from 0ad to like 1200ad

Hobbits are also very small and like to keep to themselves, be modest, etc. Have you ever fucking seen the movie? Literally the first 20 minutes shows this.

think hippies on a commune, growing their own herb and living the beautiful, simple life; deliberately keeping themselves oblivious to the comings and goings of the modern age.

>you will never live in the shire and grow pipe weed with your bros

What do negros do in Africa? They just hang out in the desolate waste land doing what? Are they making huts? Do they live with the HIV? Were they going to go help the Jew eventually or were they completely cut off from modern civilization?

I always wondered what they eat. Maybe Goblins can go without food for weeks and weeks on end?

I assumed Fish as Gollum eats them.

Why is the shire so /comfy/?

no black people

Was it autism?

This x100

Good food, good ale, and good company.

My assumption was that they sent out raiding parties to nearby villages combined with fishing and hunting. On their spare time they probably worshipped the Balrog (the Balrog was on the same level of creature as Sauron, albeit weaker, so it isn't surprising they'd worship it) and did orc things like arguing and fighting. We know they practice cannibalism so it's possible they occasionally ate each other for food and population control. They had their own maia to worship so it's unlikely they planned to help Sauron any time soon, though if they had made contact it's possible they could have joined forces.

He just wanted to make his wizard proud of him

unironically the shire is based of of Gloucestershire people, where tolkein lived.
Gloucestershire people are famous for brewing booze, farming and being generally friendly

cannibalism?

Only problem with cannibalism is that it can't be a source of food by itself. It can supplement other sources, but there has to be some significant other source as well.

Nothing but fucking and pillaging on Misty Mountains' travelers.
The Balrog is some kind of god to them.
No, they're pretty much isolated and in their own, except for the ones that were forced to join Sauron's army.

Too bad he fucking failed. Couldn't beat one fight-weary unarmoured octogenarian and got the wrong fucking hobbits.

Orcs enslave their own, the weaker become labors, craftsman and plantation workers. They craft crude weapons, brew a healing ale called Orc Draught and tend to the "food." There was a massive plantation in Mordor, worked by slaved orcs, that fed Suarons armies. Some of those same practices happened underground with fungus farms, bugs, vermin and occasional meat.

I always thought that these were goblins, not orcs.

I could have swore they said it in LOTR as well.

goblins:orcs::smeagol:frodo

They're technically the same species, but goblins are just more diminutive

I guess, because they also have different eyes compared to regular orcs. The fact that they are that large means they've adapted to low level ambient light and their offspring inherited that trait. So they must have been there for quite some time

Goblins are a subspecies of orcs, like Uruks.

No, Tolkien used the terms interchangeably.

What do retards in midwest suburbs do? They were just living in the shithole they were born in, unaware of an objectively superior outside world.

Fuck tolkien, Peter Jackson is the author of LotR now

tolkien was conservative and hated the "modern age", the shire was his, in the good old days place

gates and walls of mordor weren't to keep people out it was to keep orc slaves in

According to the Hobbit, the dorfs won the battle of Azalnulbizar (the gate where the Fellowship came out after Gandalf fell) according to Balin's narration.

They also wiped out the orcs during the BotFA, how come Moria was still teeming with orcs and gobbos?

They farm and produce food for the cities.

rats and fish

>gandalf did not sense the ring of power while bilbo was sneaking from behind
>gandalf did not check bilbo's ring despite his rousing suspicion
>gandalf left thorin and company without hesitation in mirkwood, knowing full well that thranduil and elves in general distrust the dwarves
>gandalf did not ask the eagles if they could drop them near the mountain or beyond laketown

what a hack

the blue wizards should take over

Enjoy the quiet, clean environment with nice people and nature all around instead of living in concrete jungles full of niggers, pollution and crime.
