thats one slimy jew.
I swear, if I have to watch one more jazz movie... ugh!
He really missed a chance in La La Land when he didn't make the drummer at SPOILERS Seb's jazz club the same character and actor from Whiplash.
he got mad that he wasn't cast as Seb and sounds like a complete asshole irl anyway.
Oh shit I didn't know that. What an idiot, the only reason he got the Whiplash part was because he looked like an obsessed autist, like his character. Seb is way different.
I like jazz but fuck this guy for implying I Ran is a bad song
I like to think immediately after the credits of whiplash he went backstage and shot himself in the head
No one who has an opinion on jazz is right. It's always either "it's the best type of music" or "it's the worst type of music."
According to Chazelle he's probably dead.
>Ryan Gosling
>not also an obsessed autist
How is jazz not the best type of music? Explain.
I don't think he implied that. In the movie Sebastian was offended not because of the quality of the song but because it's a song that offers a piano player jack shit to do.
Because there is no best genre and anyone who sits around trying to figure out which one is the best is a turbo autist that doesn't understand the point of music.
Rap is objectively the worst genre overall though.
He's French you idiot.
Nah that's modern country. Or ska. Fuck ska.
yes, only white people know about jazz
>modern country
Oh, because old country music is SO good. *rolls eyes*
Pop country, rap/hip hop, pop punk, anything with hardcore/screamy/growly vocals. They're about on par with worst genre if you ask me.
Compare Jonnny Cash with Blake Shelton and I think you'll find one of them to be significantly more tolerable.
...
Why would anyone want to listen to what a poor ghetto nigger has to say about life, drugs and gangs and so on? I've heard some rap that sounded unique but 99.99% of it is the same shit with lyrics spoken by a literal monkey on drugs.
...
>Cash
>country
His music is western.
The whole point is that it's deceptive. You see it and make assumptions because you're a racist idiot but the meaning behind their words shows that they're much smarter than you.
For example:
>Human beings in a mob
>What's a mob to a king? What's a king to a god?
>What's a god to a non-believer who don't believe in anything?
On face value, these lines refer to ideas such as Great Chain of Being, a hierarchy of life with God at the top and kings above all other humans. Asking “what’s a god to a non-believer?” is a way of subverting the chain. Not only is the non-believer not ruled by god, to him he doesn’t even exist.
The subtle message is that power derives from belief, something Kanye and Hov have both discussed in their solo work. Humans in a mob are only less powerful than a king because they believe they are. The same can be argued with the other comparisons; political and religious systems thrive only as long as we continue to believe in them.
>Tears on the mausoleum floor
>Blood stains the Colosseum doors
Jay compares the death of a king to that of a gladiator. In Ancient Rome, Emperors were mourned, and laid to rest in mausoleums. In a stark contrast, gladiators merely provided entertainment – nobody wept for them.
>Lies on the lips of a priest
>Thanksgiving disguised as a feast
The clergy assisted colonists in cheating and killing Native Americans in colonial times. Thanksgiving supposedly commemorates a historic feast shared by Native Americans and colonists, but the actual origins of the celebration are very much up for debate.
What's the in-universe explanation for the dancing scenes in La La Land? Are they just stylized versions of what's "really" happening, when the characters are just talking to each other?
>Is Pious pious cause God loves pious?
A reference to Plato’s Euthyphro.
The Euthyphro dilemma arises when Socrates asks Euthyphro:
"Is the pious loved by the gods because it is pious, or is it pious because it is loved by the gods?"
For sake of argument, Socrates and Euthyphro agree that the first is true, but Socrates argues that if the second is also true and something is pious because the gods love it, then the first and second together would yield a self-perpetuating cycle.
The dialectic gets at some of the central questions of morality (sovereignty, omnipotence, freedom of the will, morality without God) and has implications not only for metaphysics and theology, but also for epistemology.
Because some people think nigger spewing sounds good.
>reddit spacing
>I live by you, desire
>I stand by you, walk through the fire
>Your love is my scripture
>Let me into your encryption
The bridge sets up ‘Ye’s verse which explores the idea of love replacing religious dogma. Despite the “fire” of criticism and moral judgment they’ll get because of it, Kanye believes that two people in a relationship should forge their own rules, rather than trying to live up to often unrealistic, or unsatisfying expectations of monogamy.
>We formed a new religion
>No sins as long as there’s permission
>And deception is the only felony
>So never fuck nobody without telling me
These lyrics continue the themes of free will in the hook, as well as the concept developed in Jay’s verse of himself and Ye as the new “God figures”.
Ye makes it clear that the type of love/affection that he needs is open, honest, ethical nonmonogamy. He has thrown off the shackles of traditional (or religious) expectations of what a relationship is, declaring that as long as everything either party does is consensual and okayed by their partner (i.e. there is permission) it’s not a sin. Breaking the trust necessary for this kind of relationship to work is the only serious offense.
>When we die, the money we can’t keep
>But we probably spend it all cause the pain ain’t cheap
>Preach
This could be interpreted as a triple entendre. 1) Pain – the emptiness many famous people complain of having once they acquired all the material goods they could ever want 2) chamPAGNE – the cost of living a lavish lifestyle 3) Pain (in french) – which directly translates to ‘bread’ (meaning simply living isn’t cheap). In addition, during the French revolution, there were bread riots in which people demanded lower prices for bread from King Louis XV because they were starving and could’t afford what they considered to be unjust prices for food.
he's right about ONE thing...
>movie is black and white
>main couple is literally black and white
Poettery
>one in the dark
>one in the light
>this was the last time they spoke as friends
Can you decipher Future next?
>Had her rain dance on the dick, ass jumping
Future has a fine female in his bedroom and is currently showing her what Rich $ex feels like.
She is squirming around in pleasure with movements similar to those of a dancer trying to bring about rain.
It’s safe to assume that Future’s skills in bed probably granted her wish.
>Running through the pussy like a nigga going jogging
Men burn an average of 100 calories during sex, but running was found to burn twice as many calories per minute. Either way, Future’s getting his exercise in.
>Fuck a little Louis, put it in a bitch pocket
Louis Vuitton is nothing for Future. He carelessly laces his side chicks with expensive clothes daily.
>Put a pic with me on the 'gram, now you popping
As Future’s songs rule the airwaves and his popularity rises, a simple picture with him on Instagram could boost your whole career. But such a favor isn’t intended for fake friends. This concept is even a skit on Future’s 56 Nights mixtape. A ‘fan’ wanting a picture with Future’s DJ, Esco, eventually gets punished by some mafia-like characters for flexing.
>Where your ass was at when I was trapping in the store?
>Had to struggle to get where I'm at and sell dope
Future had to cook crack cocaine and sell dope to get to where he is. He’s not the only rapper to take this path, giving their career a kick-start with their drug money.
It continues a trend in modern music where an artist calls out “new” friends, who weren’t around when they were involved in the struggle, but all of a sudden come up with their hands out.
>Jackie Chan moves got game in the choke
The moves that Future makes to keep the rap game on lockdown and in the palms of his hands are similar to the lethal moves of legendary Chinese martial artist and actor Jackie Chan.
>you lived long enough to see someone unironically defending nigger rap lyrics as deep and nuanced
a lot of rap is lazy consumerist bullshit but modern country is just plain embarrassing.
yeah because "nigger rap lyrics" was such a deep and nuanced critique.
you're a hypocrite who probably doesn't even bother to engage with rap.
he looks like that one guy who was a villain in a movie or show I watched years ago
