Can we talk about how brilliant the Dominion was at divide and conquer? Not just because they were shapeshifters either.
Consider their infiltration of the Klingon empire. Yeah the obvious thing to do is take out the most powerful leader and replace him with a changeling, but that's not the smart thing, because what if you're found out? All the political decisions you made are exposed as illegitimate and lose public support. But replace someone close to the leader, and all the political decisions retain their legitimacy even if you're outed.
And don't you think the Dominion made sure that the Klingons aided the Maquis? Eddington even yells proudly that the Maquis had the Cardassians on the run, and Sisko responds saying, "and they ran right into the arms of the Dominion!"
The Klingon empire is a joke, Klingons are the most retarded specie from ST, and Worf is an unsufferable crybaby who can't shut is mouth up while sperging that he is a Klingon even while it is painfully obvious when amongst his people he have nothing common with them. And to infiltrate an empire where the next ruler is designed after a literal dick contest to know whom is the worst savage is no big deal imo.

>>no psi corps/secret police that would be something that would fit the terran empire, but even if the section 31 is up to all sort of shady buisness that's still the federation: a bunch of gullible cretins way to much attached to their principles of peace and tolerance even with people like the maquis or the dominions.
Caleb Peterson
Federation in the 24th century, had Time Cops. Even though no one had regular and reliable time travel ability.
So they should have had a Psi Corps to make sure the telepaths behaved them selves.

Did she just not love Bashir (in the same way you don't love most people), or did she literally not understand love properly (so she couldn't love anyone)?
I was upset that Bashir didn't get his GF though.

that wasn't the only time the Federation gave planets to some other alien power and forgot to check in with the locals first.
there are a few episdoes in TNG where a human colony not in the Federation, was given to the Cardassians or the Sheliak.
Anthony Price
Is Jon Arbuckle a Vorta?
Joshua Cook
they warned those colonists and they didn't listen and still colonized those planets Federation should have left them to fend for themselves instead of helping them find a peaceful solution
Wyatt Perry
The Federation politicians should have genocided themselves. They betrayed their own species for the damn Cardies. Especially when Starfleet could have easily defeated the spoon heads. Maxwell was right about absolutely everything.
"You're a fool, Picard. History will look at you and say, 'This man is a fool'."

>Rick Berman’s first choice for the role of Sisko was actor Avery Brooks. The two had met many years earlier when the then-struggling young actor rented a room in Berman’s family apartment, and Brooks’ often terrifying and deranged antics during the three months he lived there left a lasting impression on the executive. Years later, Berman remembered the volatile actor and knew that he was the only possible man who could play the mad Sisko, and he sent Brooks a copy of the script. “Between three and four in the morning, the phone rang,” Berman recalled. “It took me at least a couple of minutes before I realized who was the source of this inarticulate screaming. And after an hour of this, it dawned on me that he found it the most fascinating script and wanted to be The Emissary.”
>From the beginning of the production on the pilot episode, writer Michael Piller and Brooks argued about the proper manner to portray Sisko. Brooks wanted to play a “wild, ranting madman”, but Piller wanted something “quieter, more menacing”. In order to get the performance he desired, before each shot director David Carson would deliberately infuriate him. After waiting for the hot-tempered actor’s inevitable tantrum to “burn itself out”, Carson would then roll the camera.
Joshua Rivera
Cardassians are Cardassians no matter what year it is.
If you defeat the spoonheads then they ally themselves with your enemy and come back for revenge.

>federation couldn't afford a war
Cardassia couldn't even defend their own territory against one ship. One ship. They had to beg Picard for help. Imagine if Picard sided with Maxwell. Two ships could have smashed their way to Cardassia Prime.

>Even the director wasn’t safe from his twisted vision. “One time I yelled ‘cut’ and he turned to me and said 'What if someone just stood in the middle of the Promenade and yelled cut? Maybe the Ferengi in suits would forget their trained routine of acquiring’ My jaw hit the floor and it never really came back up. That’s when I thought, is he getting in character to play Sisko, or is Sisko something that’s been in him all along?”
>“Sometimes I would go to look into the cameras, and I noticed he had put something in the lens. It was stuff like 'What if cameras were phasers? Would you be a mass murderer?’ and 'Lights. Camera. EDDINGTON!.’ I had to ask him to stop because I was getting too scared to direct.”

Even if you agree with the interpretation of the federation as a peaceful, conflict-free paradise, it still shares borders with many hostile expansionist powers. It's inevitable that it would one day have to take up arms to defend itself.

Does warp speed take you through another dimension or are you really travelling at superluminal speeds?
I would just warp a brick at some fags planet for laughs
Landon Diaz
You travel through subspace.
Your speed returns to sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-c when your warp field collapses.
Your brick will hit with the force of a brick, not a planet destroyer.

imagine you are in a hamster ball on a floor rug.
impulse is the hamster walking in his ball across the entire length of the rug.
warp is the rug being folded up under the ball as it moves forward, and then expanded back to normal space as the ball leaves. getting you to the end of the rug sooner, but never going any faster.
Isaiah Lewis

>Cardassian/Romulan alliance
Good. Even the Dominion couldn't carry the spoon heads. The Romulans would have no chance. Cardies and Romulans would get crushed by Federation and Klingons. The Federation would openly aid the Bajorans to kill cardies. Starfleet would militarize years ahead of DS9.
This would make an excellent alternative history fan fiction series. Imagine Section 31 and Kira's cell versus Gul Dukat and Garak.
William Sanders
Gul Dukat was too busy banging bajoran whores to do his job properly.
Garak was too good and got exiled for it.
