Does anime finally have their game of thrones?

Does anime finally have their game of thrones?

Will this be the series that ultimately elevates the medium into respected on an artistic level?

They took so long making the second season that I lost interest in it.

It turned into boring flesh mecha.

We're reaching kino levels that shouldn't even be possible.

More like it went from another boring zombie apocalypse story to an interesting political thriller with cool flesh mech fight scenes.

Anime was respected on an artistic level 20+ years ago. It will never be again after the degeneracy that is modern anime.

>Does anime finally have their game of thrones?
You mean overrated shit that normies like?
Then yes.

I love how threads like these. It's the perfect confluence of stereotypical nerdy bullshit, it's the average Sup Forums poster, relatively new to the site, who goes to all the big boards on the site and shits them all up equally with his narrow knowledge and experience with various artistic mediums. He knows mainstream video games, he knows mainstream anime, he knows mainstream cartoons (especially those from the 90s and early 00s), and he knows only the biggest comic book characters. And he feels marginalized by society because of how much of a shut in he is, so he'll have the most shallow Sup Forums opinions and tastes. He'll prattle on endlessly about cucks and interracial porn, but he isn't informed or even cares about international political issues and happenings. It's just a slight veneer of racism and misogyny and the rejection of anything that could be considered "degenerate."

And the cross poster signals all of this to his other cross posters with the word "kino." It's like those hobo chalk signs. You slap it on a thread so other cross posters know it's safe to come out of the woodwork.

It's like a sociological study seeing these threads.

Not really, before Attack on Titan I'd have put it with video games; A few good genre pieces but ultimately nothing that stood next to quality film as an equal.

>Anime was respected on an artistic level 20+ years ago
nice joke user

>it's a teenagers save humanity show

Ping-pong already exists and perfect Blue

Game of Thrones is of no artistic merit whatsoever, it's essentially a high budget fantasy soap opera for normies, absolutely bereft of any level of meaningfullness and your holding it in high regard shows the complete puerility of the typical anime watcher. But really AoT is more equivocable to a show like the Walking Dead, with such lower artistic ambitions than even your average superhero movie that it's impressive that anyone involved fancies themselves an artist at all and not just the adult equivalent of a party clown.

Sorry but AoT is completely irredeemable pop culture flotsam

Fuck off weeb.

SnK has literally nothing in common with Game of Thrones other than "people die" and "big walls"

More like it's a man saves everyone before paying the ultimate sacrifice.

You're forgetting all the boring political garbage that acts as filler in both shows. The tone is very similar as well.

He means underage plebs think its high media

>You're forgetting all the boring political garbage that acts as filler in both shows.

The political garbage hasn't arrived yet in the show, that's more the manga. I agree that the stuff with Marley later in the manga has a sort of "game of thrones" feel to it, but as far as the show is concerned (Intro, Trost, Female Titan, Clash)? Almost no politics going on except for that one episode where Eren is on trial.

>The tone is very similar as well.

The tone isn't even remotely similar. Maybe if Eren had stayed dead, the tone would be similar, but the introduction of titan shifters changed that entirely.

>cool flesh mech fight scenes

Its almost on DBZ level where one fight is stretched into three billion episodes with constant talking and inner dialogue for hours while being surrounded by the most dangerous beings possible but still nothing happens to the autist that stands still in the middle of the battle thinking how chosen Spaghetti Bolognese ten years ago changed his Life to this point.
Followed by retarded scrwaming because the image of Spaghetti made the protagonist mad and gave him superpowers.

Daily reminder hollyweird capeshit will never approach anything of this caliber. Snyderfags are kidding themselves.

I tried giving AoT a chance but I couldn't get past the hamfisted melodrama in every episode. There's always some "epic and deep" monologue, sometimes 2 or 3 times in a single episode about their motivations and "what we're fighting for!!!" and it's just too corny to be compared to any good films

>dub

The dub is the superior version, small-brain weeb

The embarrassing thing is that while the narrative would have you believe that it's the imperative of the young protagonist to overcome their slacker peers to rise above their station and be the savior of their people it essentially boils down to a lecture from the author who is a failed acolyte of the previous generation whose struggle is bygone, the lessons of which are obsolete; thinking that they know what the new generation needs to do to ameliorate their unique malaise is the ultimate embarrassment

FUCK ATTACK ON TITAN

The recent political arc is too TWISTed

legend of the galactic heroes & monster are already better than game of thrones.

It's a shill shilling his channel
act accordingly

lolno

The second season was just pure nonsense, half of every fucking episode was people having devastating "revelations" and making crying speeches.

That might be good writing for weebs, but I doesn't pass muster for people who aren't infantilized braindead pedophiles.

This. Typical lazy anime trash.

I could literally pick a random anime and it would be better than Game of Thrones

>Titan shifters

Uhh some characters are way OP in GoT too.

Give it up weeb.

Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and Lain were all well thought of.

And that's it.

The genre just ain't that great.

That's just anime in general, really. Think it has something to do with Japanese culture, it's really strange compared to ours.

That whole show is a typical Weeb power phantasy about being being the special one while living a normal life. Combined with that shy but beautiful girl that has only eyes for you and Chad friends who accept you as one of them.

All this while there is always the stereotypical wise old military leader who is just getting smarter as everyone else by folding his arms and closing his Eyes.

Why should i care about GOT or compare it to Attack on Titan ?

The dub is the fucking worst.

>That whole show is a typical Weeb power phantasy about being being the special one while living a normal life

What? Literally every single Eldian can become a titan, Eren isn't special at all. He just took the right steroid.

>All this while there is always the stereotypical wise old military leader who is just getting smarter as everyone else by folding his arms and closing his Eyes

Who are you talking about? The military leader is pretty young and has a fetish for suicide charges that he leads personally.

Nobody had even seen those til the Internet became popular you dense teenager.

I don't know then why did you reply you mongoloid?

I was hesitant to watch this show because of the lack of a convincing concept for the story; it seriously isn't anything we've never seen before. But after watching the first couple episodes I knew it wasn't just not worth watching but was actually IQ-sapping garbage. After a meandering introduction aimed squarely at the angst of the teenage audience, as soon as Mikasa ran towards Eren as a kid with her arms outstretched behind her back with a neutral look on her face, intimidating the bullies away from Eren; I knew that the author was not living the the real world and thus could not speak to me in any meaningful way. This is an escapist fantasy for solipsistic preteens

Literally none of this applies to AoT.

I don't think that kind of writing is so terrible in the first place, it's just some anime (AoT being an extreme example) get so heavy handed with it that it just brings the show down

>I knew that the author was not living the the real world
Did you figure that out before or after you found out it was a show about people flying around killing giants?

how fucking young are you?

don't try to place shows/internet historically when you weren't even alive when they came out dipshit

>He just took the right steroid

Wrong. It was given to him by his father making him " the special one ".

And when talking about the old military leader i meant Pixis.
Hell the next cliche will be the typical reflecting glasses of the main villain.

>this is what underage kids believe

The new season is really bad. The 2nd half of the first season wasn't that great either.

Not an argument Kiddo

>Wrong. It was given to him by his father making him " the special one ".
No, there are literally hundreds of thousands of people who got the same thing. Literally every single titan is a person who got injected.

>And when talking about the old military leader i meant Pixis.
Pixis, who is relevant for like 2 episodes?

>They took so long making the second season that I lost interest in it.

Basically this.

>Eren, the special Guy
>being one of the strongest Titans, up to now maybe even number 1 until that God like Titan appears
>Mikasa wants him
>Military unit accepts him fast, whole Bro culture

Its all there

Fantasy can and always has been an extremely effective way to speak to the core of a person's humanity. Stories that connect with us by painting with the brush strokes of human passion, flaw and feeling are what engage the artistically literate. Attack on Titan is meaningless disposable pop culture insipidness which lazily flops it's wrists when asked to provide any kind of purpose.

>implying Game Of Thrones elevated anything

you faggots see dragons and sex and automatically think its the greatest shit ever

And yet he is still the special, super strong Titan while being a shy Child before.
Now super strong and loved by his comrades.

Boring weeb phantasy.

>Eren, the special Guy
If by "special guy" you mean "constantly needs to be rescued by somebody else after getting himself kidnapped for the xth time", then sure, he's special.

>being one of the strongest Titans, up to now maybe even number 1 until that God like Titan appears

Out of the 9 shifters, he's probably 8th. He gets his ass kicked every time he runs into another shifter.

>Mikasa wants him
His autistic overprotective big sister follows him around.

>Military unit accepts him fast, whole Bro culture
That's how the military works

considering all the big name artsy stuff that came out 20 years ago like NGE and Serial Experiments Lain, I don't really see how this would be anything special.

You are your own oppressor, you're brain-washing yourself into complacency by buying into this meaningless power fantasy. Work out, learn a trade and start going outside before it's too late.

He fought against the martial arts girl and owned her, he fought the armoured one and was only stopped the Collosus titan falling on him. Engaged several dozens of common Titans and fucked them up.
While constantly getting stronger.
8th my ass.

And dont try to lecture me how the insight of military culture works, thats just embarassing for you.

Where my 155i+ IQ bros at?

>15
>92.6 lbs
>4'9

Shounen trash. I'm baffled at the thought of an adult watching this coming of age hogwash.

>And yet he is still the special, super strong Titan
Not really, he's probably the weakest shifter. And there are humans who could easily bring him down too.

>Now super strong and loved by his comrades.
Well, at least 3 of them outright hate him, most would have been happy to execute him, a few think he's necessary...I'd say like 4 or 5 of them tops actually care about him.

>weeb fantasy
It's definitely a weeb fantasy, since it's a fantasy anime. But "shy child becomes hero" seems pretty standard across all genres, idk if it's specific to anime.

Yu Yu Hakasho>>>>>>>>>>>HxH

Legal in a country where I live.
Feels good.

YYH wins on style but HxH is much better written and consistent

Anime was slow, dropped.
But I liked the porn version

>anime thread on Sup Forums
>it's the same five shows every time

Both of them!!!

...

Is this male on male? I can't even tell.

...

It's pretty clear that you haven't read the manga. His titan is called the Attack Titan (yeah, I know, sounds stupid) and his signature power is more strength than the others. Remember when he punched Annie in the gut and lifted her 30meters into the air? Or when he lifted a boulder his size for several minutes?
Also of course the military will gladly accept him. His power opens up the possibility of counterattack. Without it, they can't seal the holes.

Miyazaki and Takahata already did that. Also the masses are all retarded and think animation is for children or shitty "adult" comedy so anime will never flourish in the west. Lastly AoT S2 was actually good while the first season was just mediocre but it doesn't retain its popularity because it lacked the cheap shock moments and constant action people crave.

>there is a race of giant people who conquered the world
>then their empire rolled back to a small island. They walled themselves in and forget about their power and conquest.
>their people left outside are turned into mindless or self-hating slaves, using their power topple their own ancestor and homeland
>inside the walls people don't even know whats going on and starve

Miyazaki didn't tap into the edgy patriotic passion the Titans is about to unleash

The show is so overrated. First few episodes are then it gets boring

Couldn't get into but do they ever explain what the titans are and why they eat humans?

Thirded honestly. Was super into it when it came out but waiting longer than 2 years killed it for me.

I wish I had a friend like you.

Yes.

>Mikasa is heavier than Eren
hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggg

>shonen over 100 episodes
I'll pass on exposition x exposition

...

Sup Forums here
attack on titan is shit

Attack on Titan is just as poorly written as most video games, though. I don't see how this shonen trash could be the one thing that elevates the genre for you.

I'm saving this post for future use.

Well you gonna tell me?

Except the political intrigue was the only good part of GoT, and AoT has little to none.

>everyone is a titan

dropped that shit pretty fast once it took that route

just your typical anime where the world and every character gets more ridiculous, oh let's not mention le epic battle with inner monologues and talking taking 12 episodes to conclude

I watched the first ep or so and thought the concept was great and good provide some great drama if done well. Then the main character literally gets a mech and all tension is taken out of the show, every problem is going to be solved by him fighting, having some of anime epiphany, suddenly being stronger than winning. Fucking garbage.

lmfao that Armin dub voice
