Take a movie that wasn't very good...

Take a movie that wasn't very good, and give it to a director (living or dead) who would make the same material into an amazing movie.

Alternatively, take a good movie and give it to a director who would make it shite.

Examples:

David Lynch's The Room

Peter Jackson's Battlefield Earth

Or, on the bad end:

Judd Apatow's The Big Lebowski

Great:
Sam Raimi's Terminator Genisys

Horseshit:
Wes Anderson's Nightcrawler
Tarantino's Cars 3

Tarkovsky's batman v superman.

David Cronenberg's Toy Story

Ridley Scott's Avatar

+
Stanley Kubrick's AI
David Lynch's Pulp Fiction
Roman Polanski's Hard candy

-
Woody Allen's Pineapple Express

I want to see David Cronenberg do a G.I. Joe sequel about Cobra La with all the inherent body horror.

Lars von Trier's Passengers with Willem Dafoe instead of Chris Pratt.

I saw a movie a while ago called "The Rezort" which was basically Jurassic Park with zombies. They try to go for social satire but it either misses the mark or is way too heavy handed, especially in the last part of the film. I kept thinking the whole time how much bettr the film would've been in the hands of Paul Verhoeven.

Also John Carpenter's Vampires (1998) made by John Carpenter (circa 1988)

>Roman Polanski's Hard candy

Shot on home video tape.

Dogshit:
Jodorowsky's Dune

Michael Bay's Stalker

You've sold me.
Replace Jennifer Lawrence with Winona Ryder and you've got a running start.

Stanley Kubrick's Doctor Strange

I read
>They try to go for social satire but it either misses the mark or is way too heavy handed
And thought "Perfect for that guy who did Starship Troopers" and then I read the rest of your post.

Good job.

>TFW Paul Verhoeven will never get to do silly sci-fi satire again

Paul Verhoven's The Last Czarnian.
It's also best DC kino.

I googled the name, I don't really know anything about Lobo, but wouldn't he be better served by like, the people who did Heavy Metal?

Read the Last Czarnian then.

>I don't really know anything about Lobo
Edge: The Character
But somehow they make it work. Based Main Man.

what was wrong with the room?

it was pretty well made

there is WAYYYYYY worse movies then that

Thing you didn't know you wanted until you visualised them: the post

The craftsmanship was just good enough to make it stick out how utterly bizarre the actual writing is.

>bad movie turned good
Hitman (2007) directed by David Fincher

>good movie turned bad
Manchester by the Sea directed by Sofia Coppola

Sam Raimi's Phantom Menace
Gore Verbinski's Attack of the Clones
David Fincher's Revenge of the Sith

Francis Ford Coppola's Return of the Jedi.
