This is the real new Star Trek.

They should get old Trek actors to cameo in this. First for Gates McFadden.

Brannon Braga and Jonathan Frakes are both directing episodes so it's possible.

>seth makes mistake/observation/ ocd comment
>other makes comment that infers confusion about the situation

Funny joke man haha

I'm 4x more excited to see this than the new ST series. But I am 0% excited to see the new ST series. So do the math

I get that the new Trek show looks questionable at best but can we not overcompensate by pretending that this show doesn't look fucking horrendous?

>Seth McFarlane
Trash

Isn't kassidy yates's (siako's freight Captain gf from DS9) actress literally standing on the left in OP's picture?

>this show will have an extended Patrick Stewart cameo and there's nothing we can do about it

...

>> Ed discovers the first wrinkle in his plan when the First Officer assigned to his ship ...

Record scratch

>>>is his ex-wife,

>watch trailer
>think this might be a kinda neat movie to see
>turns out it's a show

why?

Just watched the trailer and I was totally right. Plus the guy in the trailer that made the banana ray played Julian bashir's dad on DS9 as well

Unlike the people making Discovery, Seth MacFarlane actually loves Star Trek.

>Aw now I done seen everything!

I'm pretty sure Patrick Steward died in Logan. Like, that's it. He's gone.

How does this guy have so much power? He's just a low-grade voice actor.

Also, isn't white people in the future anachronistic?

Agreed. It's just a shame that he's not funny. Didn't chuckle once at that trailer, and if it's in the trailer it's probably the cream of the crop. But perhaps that's the catch - maybe it's actually a decent, albeit tongue-in-cheek, science fiction show, but due to his rep Fox is promoting it as Family Guy in space.

Also being Fox you know it's going to be cancelled after six eps.

That's not necessarily a good thing, though. JJ Abrams claims to love Star Wars more than Trek, yet made better Trek movies than Wars. Of course Disney probably had a lot to do with TFA blowing ass though.

Pretty sure Nicholas Meyer and Roddy Rodenberry like Star Trek m8. Pretty sure Bryan Fuller liked it too before he left because he can't meet a deadline. Also pretty sure Jonathan Frakes likes Trek enough to return to direct an episode.

Because Family Guy makes bazillion dollars

>Aretha Franklin starts playing
>clip of the characters arguing

I've heard about this show for a while but I hadn't looked at the trailer until now bc I try to avoid anything related to Seth MacFarlane. Imagine my surprise when he turned out to be the least enjoyable part of the trailer. Show seems alright but I don't see it getting past a first season with Seth as the lead. All of the jokes directly making fun of specific star trek tropes like the viewscreen one from the end of trailer will get old pretty fast without something else to enjoy and I know for a fact that MacFarlane won't be it.

CAN ANYONE STOP THE MAD MAN

the hilarious thing is that this will actually be better than star trek discovery

nice reddit spacing fags

i dont know cosmos was pretty good

did he use it as a prototype?

>better Trek movies than Wars.
Now we're just arguing over the flavor of the turds.
I don't think JJ is the worst director in the world, but it feels like he needed to spend more time in the minors to hone his craft and learning how to work around his limitations before he should have directed big budget schlock.

I couldn't agree more. It's like 'Ted' or 'A Million Ways...' - in each instance, with the cast he assembled, and the budget he wrangled, he should have produced gold, but instead he managed to produce absolute trash with almost no redeemable qualities. It's a remarkable gift.

OP
At first I thought it was a movie, spoof of Galaxy Quest, thinking WHY. look for jpeg for post then realize it's a TV show.

>Reddit spacing
>I pressed return zero times
It's like they just throw these words around for no reason or something

ted was not trash in any sense of the word

fuck you

>Budget $51 million
>Box office $549.4 million

bad things do not make this kind of money you driveling retard

i bet you saw almost every episode of family guy but still say its bad

why watch it if you dont like it?

I definitely don't like the bridge layout. The 2nd officers chair right next to his, and zoiks it's his ex wife! It's like a husband and wife sitting on the couch cruising through space, "No woman I'm the captain, it's my remote I'll choose what we watch on the view screen!"

>"return"
>not "enter"

Nice reddit keyboard term usage

>get called out
>starts backpeddlin

every time.

Your fucking MARKED kid. Your Done.

I feel like it became the inverse joke. You can pinpoint the summer in retarded posts like that.

Why does Seth MacFarlane always cast himself as lead in everything he makes? Does he really have such a huge ego? He can't even act.

>bad things do not make this kind of money you driveling retard
Okay

>Profit=quality

Which is why all the transformers movies, all of Adam Sandler's movies, all of the MCU movies, the minions movie, and probably the emoji movie are all known as shining examples of quality filmmaking

Transformers has made like 4 billion dollars, could you explain to me how those are good movies

At least Shyamanalan knows to cast himself as an extra.

>Does he really have such a huge ego?

Most of the musical numbers on his shows consist of multiple characters singing that are all voiced by him, what do you think?

6?

>bad things do not make this kind of money you driveling retard

Jonathan Frakes is directing an episode of Orville and Trek: Discovery. I'm curious what he'll have to say about each.

He is a fantastic VA, but an awful Actor.

Hate Seth McFarlane all you want but at-least he's trying.

He clearly saw how shit the new Feminism Star Trek was going to be so made it his mission to make a better spin off version.

Ted was so successful because it traded on MacFarlane's name. People, with no prior exposure to his ability as a filmmaker, flocked to the see 'Haha Family Guy right? But on the big screen!' Which is what generated those big box office numbers.

It's also why 'A Million Ways...' and 'Ted 2' struggled. They were still profitable, but at nowhere near the same level. And yeah nah I've seen maybe thirty episodes of Family Guy total, and while his brand of humour is totally fine in the 23 minute format, it doesn't translate well to the feature format. If Orville is short episodic television, it might be better, but I have a feeling it'll be the longer format and will drag.

I don't think MacFarlane would be particularly motivated by gender-politic contrarianism.

JJ's Trek movies are easily more enjoyable than TFA and I'll fight anyone who disagrees.

is seth mcfarlane trying to kill fox? not that i have a problem with that.

mass appeal is a positive trait.

get fucking reckt reddit

The only good comedic adaptation of star trek is futurama.

4/10

>so anally destroyed he cant even count to 5

and here i thought reddit users pride themselves on their intelligence

tutu tutu.. what a pity..

The first JJ Trek and TFA are on the same level. Into Darkness is diarrhea nowhere close to either of them

Star Trek Beyond is better than all three

>i
>..
Yikes.

Bullshit. Trek 09 is actually enjoyable. TFA isn't. What was everyone's problem with Into Darkness again?

anyway...

>tutu tutu
Yikes

I will not be able to get over the fact that it sounds like Brian Griffin in space. I will give it a chance though.

Apart from one or two, all of the jokes in the trailer landed for me. Will definitely give this a fair shot, especially since it looks like a better Trek show than the actual new Trek show. Also the not-Klingon girl a qt.

Shit choice for Khan. Shit choice for villain. Shit twist on the ending. It's just a mess of a film. Don't worry, by admitting this you aren't somehow being tricked into admitting you liked the evil new 'feminist' Star Wars. Taken in isolation Into Darkness remains a mess.

New trek should be fine. Just think of it more like the expanse (good visuals, decent story) and less about it as a star trek.

>I definitely don't like the bridge layout. The 2nd officers chair right next to his
Man, it's almost like they're copying something

It's like pic related but worse and the lead has influence in the industry but 0 talent.

>How dare he make music
Seriously, what did you mean by this?

I get all that but it's still more enjoyable than TFA because it actually manages to have some real emotional moments.

that episode was kino
the episode where brian accidentally the time machine and everything goes in reverse and they came back to that (in reverse,) doubly so

Let's be honest they're both pale imitators of this gem. please don't post red fucking dwarf.

>hyperdrive
That tv show SUCKED!

Picard is sitting in the center, not side by side. The Captain's chair had more distinction. That's why it was called "the chair".

>haha look at this american not getting it

It's almost like he's a massive trek fanboy.

You can't have a center when there's only 2 chairs though, and Picard is still right next to his first officer. And Troi.

Where should her chair be?

He has aged pretty well.

Too slow buddy

Fat doesn't crack

>Executive Producer Brannon Braga

Here we go again

>the quips

God, this is like if Joss Whedon made Firefly

>Lock Braga in a room and tell him he's an executive producer
>Take all his copy and insert jokes
It would be like Treknado or something.

Off center to the captains centered chair. And his chair should have more controls like Picard's did as well.

>quip, noun, a witty remark
This is the last thing I would expect in a comedy series. What were they even thinking?

>Where should her chair be?

There should be 3 chairs.

>He doesn't know about galaxy quest
Wew lad!

So a straight version of this.
Space Station 76
Heartbroken after his lover dumps him, a space station's closeted gay commander (Patrick Wilson) clashes with his new second-in-command (Liv Tyler), who happens to be female.

Galaxy Quest was shit though

You're shit, son.

Look at his face, 0 emotion 0 character 0 personality 0 flavor 0 everything!
He's like a human acting blob.
The guy next to him is acting 10 times better.

>all these post with exclamation points (!)
Newfags pls don't do this.

You're not wrong, but also I think that screenshot has caught him mid-sentence.

Hahaaa

>Captain and first officer aren't a chink/nigger lesbian couple

Damn right it is.

I'm interested as well. Unfortunately I don't think even Based Riker can save either of these piles of shit.

He's always like that either startles, expressionless or having a fake wide smile on his fat fucking face.

Anyone else think Seth MacFarlane could be so much better than he is? Like I fucking know that cunt can be funny when he super wants to be, but he's also the laziest comedian ever so he panders to the lowest common denominator every time, especially post 2007-ish.

Ridiculously good singer and voice actor though.

MacFarlane has zero live action screen presence. This wouldn't look half bad if he just wrote the show instead of leading it

She's probably wondering how she got here
