>i dictate corporate policy

>people do not deserve a living wage for their full time 40 hours a week job

>people should live in poverty despite working 40 hours a week because I think their job is simple

>some people work 40 hours a week like mules while other people are unemployed

40hours is a lot in US? I thought you worked 60

You can live on min wage, like a pauper, but it's doable.

t. someone who never lived on min wage

Not really, 95% of your income would be going to rent qnd food. Its extremely difficult.

Not him but that's not true. You can quite easily live off minimum wage.

Grew up on it
Trim the fat get some roommates.

>quite easily live off minimum wage
No you can't. Absolutely no one argues this.

>95% of your income would be going to rent qnd food.
So you are housed and fed. What is the problem?

Yes you can.
>Absolutely no one argues this.
Not an argument.
Minimum wage fulltime work in Ontario gives you $1862 per month after tax.

Expenses:
>Cellphone plan $40
>Bus pass $145
>Food $300
>Internet $60
>Rent say $600 with roommates
That comes to $1145/month.

One thing that gets drilled into kids in schools here is that no one owes you a living.

think about your daily life user
what else do you do other than eat and sleep all day?

actually, wait, its probably not best to ask someone from Sup Forums this

...

they both deserve a livable wage

This fulfills all your necessities and gives you $700 a month excess.

Please explain to me how it's not possible to live off of that.

min wage is an anti-poor, anti-lowskilled worker, anti-youth policy. And people who advocate win wage should get executed.

People on the right are doing what should be a job done by teenagers as their first step.

Federal minimum wage in the US is $7.25. Someone working 40 hours a week while making minimum wage earns around $1160. Even with your subjective estimates of expenses, someone would not be able to survive. You aren't considering medical bills, regular housing supplies, any extra mouths someone has to feed, child care, or other forms of transportation.

Is there something more devious than pitying set up certain parts of the working class against the other?

>>Food $300
That's pretty generous, I only spend $100/month on food.

>.t Sup Forums economics, sociology, psychology and political expert

>should be
evidently not, because teenagers arent the only people working those jobs
consider that maybe in markets with little competition for labor, people will take any job they can get

I am talking about my province I dont know prices in your area.

>Even with your subjective estimates of expenses, someone would not be able to survive.
How are they subjective. I can provide links to rent listings, the exact cellphone plan, internet plan and bus pass cost if you want. The prices I listed are very much average and reasonable.

>You aren't considering medical bills
don't have those here. What are they?
> regular housing supplies
Okay subtract $20 for shaving cream and toilet paper.
>any extra mouths someone has to feed, child care
The government helps with that.
>or other forms of transportation.
A bus is sufficient though

>i deserve to be generously compensated for flipping burgers 40 hours a week

But that's the point. This job isn't done by mostly teenagers you pampered suburbanite. These are people that have families themselves and mouths to feed.

unironically wages for nearly everyone except for 1% havent kept up with inflation/productivity and those making the least will feel it the soonest, aka now, yet while inflation continues and wages stagnate, the middle class will struggle more and more and more, very similarly to how the poor are now.

But go on, defend supply side economics in a demand side economy. You illiterate fuck.

If you're in your 40s making minimum wage you're the problem

>t. baguette

youtube.com/watch?v=ca8Z__o52sk

every worker, regardless of age or skill, deserves a livable wage

Yeah. The poor should just buy more money.

Basically every "small government" rational market-y system that's set up in this country goes to shit when your kid gets sick, you fuck up your ankle on the job, you get fucking shot etc

The people who make and pay for these laws have perfect healthcare, family safety nets etc so it's basically like humans trying to talk to martians

Every human deserves a 10/10 gf and a pony too.

You realize that people who make $15 an hour doing stressful, skilled, and jobs that required them to get into student loan debt are possibly going to go "Fuck this stress, I'd rather do a job where I can get high and flip burgers" so inevitably the wages for the current $15 skilled jobs are going to increase, and then the more executive style jobs are going up based on that as well - soon cost of goods are up, home prices, etc all go up and the only difference is that $15 is now the same spending power as $8 that most fast food places do now.

They aren't of the same class - one is a valued skilled member of society and the other does something an 8 year old could do, although the 8 year old's IQ is probably higher than the typical stoned and fucked up fast food worker so their error rate would be lower.

even all the girls?

It is livable, you're not owed a 70 inch tv and new car every year.

Food is priced higher here.

40 hours is regular but yeah 60 is usually the amount of hours worked for those in service jobs.

>They aren't of the same class
You are politically illiterate dolt. One's class refers to one's relation to the means of production. The shit you are spouting has nothing to do with it.

Ok Karl, keep dreaming buddy.

Don't they get like $18 in Australia?

>my entire argument hinges on massive exaggerations

Kill yourself cuck.

people should be able to afford things other than food and rent
like clothes, or medicine

7.25 jobs are supposed to be for kids working part time. By raising minimum wage, people will lose jobs or get fewer hours. I would support increasing it to fit the inflation of what the minimum wage previously was, not $15 though.

Because when I worked minimum wage I wore no clothes and were sick all the time.

Your argument hinged on "this is the way things should be because of muh rights"

Also I am a bull, you are the cuck. Should've went to college, brainlet.

>7.25 jobs are supposed to be for kids working part time. By raising minimum wage, people will lose jobs or get fewer hours.

This has literally never happened in any country that introduced minimum wages but keep spouting your unfunded non-sense.

Business idea: Increase the minimum wage by not letting in millions of people who will work for peanuts as long as they're allowed to stay in the country

Imagine having this much contempt for another member of your own country, without understanding where they came from, the struggles or badluck they may have encountered, and being completely indifferent to their situation, which en masse, erodes the stability of your entire economic system.

Trump voter to a T. Driven by spite and hatred, coupled with a complete lack of understanding for long term economic growth and stability, because "I got mine fuck everyone else"

You people are really the worst on earth.

I say this as a mortgage banker making 70k pretax working 50 hours a week. Try not to be such a fucking scumbag.

Damn, I thought this was bullshit. Shouldn’t paramedics be paid at least 25$ per hour?

Friedman was a brilliant man, but the federal US minimum wage is far below the equilibrium wage rate and thus a small spike would have little to no effect on unemployment. The fact is that US wages haven't followed the rise in productivity in recent decades.

you seem to be struggling to understand that people have different problems than you

It most absolutely does to small businesses

Shitty picture because the paramedic deserves more than $15

In Sweden people make 120kr in fast food, which is $15.

But then we also have something called OB in Sweden which means "uncomfortable worktime" which means people get increased salary when they're working on bad hours. So this varies from industry to industry but in fast food you get:

Monday-Friday 20:00-06:00 > $3 extra per hour
Saturday 06:00-16:00 > $3 extra per hour
Sunday all day long > $3 extra per hour

Nighttime 01:00-06:00 > $5.5 extra per hour

>poor people should work until they're dead with no enjoyment in their lives at all
>a 1 time purchases of $1k is why they're poor!

KYS

How are the poor insurance companies going to operate on a profit to pay their shareholders?

Nice ad hominem and irrelevant argument. I don't imagine computers and factory automation so much had anything to do with productivity - I'm sure it's workers busting their ass more.

>im shit at my job and im not doing it properly or don't care about it
>I SHOULD BE PAID MORE WTF

Its very clear OP was talking about American workers, unless people in Australia or Ontario are arguing for a $15 minimum wage.

>How are prices in specific areas subjective
Whats hard to understand? The standard of living depends on your state/city
>Medical bills
Insurance or the full cost of a broken bone, illness, or any other form of accident. Shit happens.
>Subtract $20
Low balling it, but even $20 would take a lot out of your $1160 monthly budget.
>Government helps with that
Not entirely, no. I didn't go into it because it depends on the situation.
>A bus is sufficient
Not everyone lives in cities. Where I live, buses like that don't exist. Not a big deal, but if you're driving anywhere you'll have to factor in gas prices and any issues related to cars. You can't expect people to drive reliable cars with their garbage wages.

The Federal Poverty line in the US is $12,060 for one person. Anyone making the federal minimum wage would be living in poverty, despite slaving away 40 hours a week minimum.

>Immigrants come to completely different country and can't speak english
>Get decent job through hard work

>Wh*Teoids have lived in the same country for four generations and still flip burgers

Of their own doing.

I'm not that guy you were arguing with. You're just a massive faggot without any understanding of long term economics. KYS.

I am beginning to think that maybe you are trying to get a rise out of me

>$15 and hour
>15 * 8 * 21 = $2520
>for ONE fast-food worker
Nigger what the fuck my mother, sister and I lived on that amount comfortably for almost 20 years

Lol okay armchair economist. Where's your degree from? University of Sup Forums?

Small business suffer the most from big chains undercutting them by wage dumping, operating on losses and other anticompetitive practices. You have no idea what you are talking about.

>pay poverty wages to your employees
>get angry when they don't give a shit about their job
oh let me guess, you're one of those mythical no existent armchair employers who would be perfectly happy to pay the slaves 10% more as soon as their productivity increased to 200% of the norm right.

move to america where you can make that much and still be eating shit

>24hour shift

Fuck off

Seize the means of operation, Moritz.

Well I don't know. It works perfectly in canada, you can easily live off minimum wage.

No it isn't. Its meant to ensure people aren't living in poverty. I'm not advocating the federal minimum wage be raised to $15 an hour either, but someone who works full time should not be living in poverty.

>people deserve good salary for a worthless job
get a better job fucking crybaby losers, you deserve only what you achieve

Not really, USA is a country that doesn't give a shit about how the people are doing.

If you get born in a poor family with a mother that has terminal cancer and a father that's a construction worker in a neighborhood full of gangs and garbage it's not easy climbing out of that.

>Also I am a bull, you are the cuck
cringe

also what you fail to realize is that a richer working class and middle class means that they buy more stuff which in turn creates more revenue for companies.

Nuking ready to eat meals is an american tradition

Whoops, I made the mistake of not choosing to be born into a rich family

I wish my mom had terminal cancer and my dad worked construction

>a worthless job
without these burger flippers everyone in America would starve to death

>Immigrants come to completely different country and can't speak english
>Get decent job through hard work

>Wh*Teoids have lived in the same country for 200 generations and still flip burgers

Except that industrial jobs have been declining since the 60s, basic jobs like driving are gone in 15 years max and even financial jobs are being replaced at some banks by machines. At some point in the 20s, the system is bound to collapse under its own optimization

>irrelevant argument

LOL. How many paint chips have you eaten today? Supply side economics dont work in a demand side economy and a stagnating minimum wage couple with stagnating wages in general result in economic depression and instable long term growth with a growing Gini index.

Capitalism hinges on consumerism, and the current system fundamentally undermines that. There's nothing wrong with capitalism, but there is everything wrong with undermining the tenants that keeps the system healthy.

But you were never interested in the merits or drawbacks of the current system with the intent of nuanced discussion on how to fix it. You just wanted to sling mud because you're an economically illiterate faggot with an arbitrary superiority complex. Trump voters LOL.

oh look a cherrypicked image, how charming.
time is an incredibly finite, valuable resource, more valuable than 7.25 USD an hour for sure. at the very least, living to work (e.g. a full-time job) ought to be reciprocated in the form of working to live (e.g. a living wage). the economy generates enough wealth to allow this and still support a very wealthy class.

Mate we weren't wealthy. We had a 10 year old TV and never ate out to give you an idea. You Americans just spend so much money on frivolous things.

If $15 was the minimum they'd still not give a shit. It would take a burger chain offering $15 while others offered $8 for them to give a shit and want to retain that job because it's better than the floor. Otherwise someone gets fired/quits they just go across the street to the next burger joint offering the floor.

>hurr i cant argue his points so i'll say he's dumb!

You're the bastion of intellectual paramount aren't you? Refer to

>worthless people deserve money

There is a couple of options, either minimum wage jobs have no value and thus should be illegal to hire people for those jobs or it has a value and workers should not be fucked over by abundance of supply of wirkers to substandard conditions for a job that is providing a lot of value.

An uncollectivized work forced and an unorganized consumer base should not be tolerated.

>$15/hr
So the american argument is that wages of working class people are a race to the bottom, but suggesting CEO bonuses shouldn't keep inflating is communism?

You are dumb though, that's why you're poor unlike me.

evidently since youre still here

Another useless ad hominem argument - who says I'm for tax cuts on the rich? Who says I'm even a Trump voter (Spoiler, I'm a registered democrat who voted for Hilary) Can you and your reddit spacing just fuck off?

They'd give a shit if the industry was unionized and they could count on some raises even if they started at $8/hr. The work laws in the US are really the problem. In Canada and basically the rest of the western world, you can't be fired without a good reason after 3 months. The US has no laws like this and it makes life way too unstable for way too little pay.

>not respecting the services you use in order to survive in our contemporary, interconnected society
kys

That's actually what they think

Americans think you should be happy with what you get. If that involves having to slave 60 hours a day and still not be able to eat anything other than dirtcookies and cheeseburgers YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL!

>if you're poor, die

now youre thinking like the average american!
