DUDE SCOTLAND LMAO

>addiction

Sorry, not a fan of fantasy.

>addiction
>fantasy

what

Lol

>you will never be an edgy fuck-up who is nonetheless handsome and has fun friends

it's shite being scottish tbqh

>people take drugs because of an illness and not because they find them pleasurable

Hmmmmmm......?

>addiction
>the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

??????

Some people hate the English, I dont. They are just wankers, we on the other hand are colonized by wankers. We couldnt even find a decent culture to be colonized by.

Its a shite state of affairs user and all the shitposting in the world wont make a bit of bloody difference!

>and no, Requiem for a Dream is not better
Actually... it is.

hey! fuck you man!

if you are turbo pleb and have no idea about drugs it is

Ok allow me to elaborate:

Requiem for a Dream was more effective to me because it was more than a film about drugs: It was a film about failure. The characters in that movie are ambitious and they all have this great plan to get out of their rotten cycle, to achieve happiness. But it doesn't work and the characters end up smashed into thousands of pieces with no hope of becoming whole. It may be edgy but that is a film about drug addiction I need to see.

Trainspotting, while a flawless production, has other aspirations like portraying its characters as somewhat virtuous and relateable. The characters talk about movies and music and go to nightclubs and pubs, and they are also spiraling on heroin. It might be more realistic, but it is also lacking pathos save for the two really effective scenes with the dead baby and Tommy being sick with AIDS.

And this should not be debatable, but Requiem has this scene: youtube.com/watch?v=ZaX_8iKSBsQ and it is superior to any scene in Trainspotting.

Yes, Requiem for a Dream is better

It actually teaches you a lesson

youtube.com/watch?v=Nf4uiRr78dU

>Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?

Dude shut up Requiem for a Dream was a book written in 1970 I'm pretty sure they had heroin addicts back then.

Requiem was too depressing

I havent been able to watch a sad movie since

requiem for a dream is better because it isn't "campy romp through scotland lmao" and depicts drug addiction as it is

better question, is there a better movie?
and the answer is "no"

RFAD has a sad ending and Trainspotting has a happy ending.
that's really the only difference

>is there a better movie about addiction?
According my dad, who was a heroin addict in 1980s Europe, no. He was freaked out by how accurate it was.

yea sure you know nothing about heroin son its obvious
Trainspotting show the real deal and if you ever knew someone really bad on heroin will understand what im talking about
also this scene beat Requiem easy its not even close
youtube.com/watch?v=v6uBkJSbQO0

>that's really the only difference
There's many differences. Structure, tone, soundtrack. You couldn't make more different films about the same subject if you tried. Look at the intros for fuck's sake: Trainspotting has the iconic Choose Life narration over Renton and the boys running from the cops. It's frenetic and is a perfect indicator for the movie you will see.

Requiem is more methodical: the Tappy Tibbons infomercial, Harry talks to his mother through the door you get the superimposed shot of her listening in the darkness. They drag the TV over to Brighton Beach with about ten or 12 artsy dutch angles. It settles the audience in for a melancholic ride.

Attack of the Clones

I watched this entire movie with a heroin addict and she said it was nothing like being a heroin addict

Fuck off bud I live in heroin capital NJ I have dealt with more wastes of life than I would care to admit. Requiem is hands down the superior film.

I am

>Trainspotting, while a flawless production, has other aspirations like portraying its characters as somewhat virtuous and relateable.
>and go to nightclubs

NORMIE GET OUT REEEEEEEEE

As a former junkie, Trainspotting is way too glamorous and RFaD is exaggerated.

The most realistic depiction of junkie lifestyle, imo, is Drugstore Cowboy

yes but Trainspotting takes you along for the high and shows you both sides, good and bad,
Requiem just wants to say drugs are bad and you shouldn't do them

na, you're on Sup Forums shitposting

because is SHE can suck dick and sell ass

>shows you both sides, good and bad,
There's no fucking good side to heroin addiction you ingrate. You don't understand Trainspotting at all. Why do you think Renton stole from them at the end?

Sup Forums isn't your secret meme clubhouse anymore kid, it's literally mainstream as fuck it's basically as popular as facebook, millions of people come here daily

male addicts sell their ass too broseph

so?

I'm on my night shift, what else am I supposed to do?

What work do you do senpai? I got offered a job nightshift reception at a hotel and am thinking of taking it so I can study while getting paid.

you stupid its a lot different in europe son i see now why you think that way
Requiem is probably more closer to american junkie but Trainspotting is literally what was going on in europe when heroin was really big at that time heroin was cheaper than weed here

ok, maybe not 'good', fun might be a better description, sorry

>we on the other hand are colonized by wankers.
What is this referring to?

*Some people hate the English, ah dinnae. They are just wankers, we oan the other hand are colonized by wankers. We couldnae even find a decent culture tae be colonized by. It's a shite state ay affairs user and aw the shitposting in the world wilnae make a bit ay bloody difference!

Heroin is cheap here too. It's the number one reason people get addicted because the pills they were addicted to at first got so expensive. I won't deny there are differences between the subcultures, what with "shoegaze" and all.

Also, Trainspotting doesn't have a Tappy Tibbons. Trainspotting automatically loses.

Not who you're responding to but how do I get offered a nightshift job? I can't stand people.

because everyone want to fuck male junkie faggot pls dont be stupid

And yet it depicts heroin addicts with eyes that dilate who giggle after shooting up and are so shit at finding a vein that they inject directly into a huge infection. hmmmm

Customer support, with a bit of selling involved. Mostly people call me a scammer. Though I only work night shifts once a week. I doubt working a full week nights will get you somewhere with your studies.

that's not what he means, trainspotting is entertaining but it's way more of a movie movie, with quippy dialogues and unrealistic situations. requiem for a dream depicts the nightmare of withdrawals a lot better. in trainspotting it's literally just ewan mcgregor having a giggle saying "wee lad I'm a bit constipated innit lololol" give me a fix m8!!! xD.
full time addicts are a waste of life, they aren't charming like ewan mcgregor.

They do that in Requiem as well.
>taking the cop's gun fantasy
>"Anyone wanna kill some time?"
>Marion and Harry breaking into apartment complexes and going on the roof

>Days of Wine and Roses
>The Lost Weekend
>Leaving Las Vegas
>Barfly

>It actually teaches you a lesson

>they inject directly into a huge infection
he did that on purpose to kill the pain. the infection happened because of a dirty needle not because of repeated use.

It's an inaccurate, preachy after school special with tits and a repetitive, overwrought soundtrack.

>hating on requiem for a dream

bunch of slack jawed faggots around here

Requiem shitty over used meme song just make the movie unwatchable for me

and Trainspotting depicts heroin addicts as literal homosexuals.
>Spud trying to kiss Sickboy repeatedly
Ergo, Trainspotting is for faggots.

I hated it even before I watched it.

Blame that obese faggot Peter Jackson for putting it in the Two Towers trailer.

>It's an inaccurate
What's inaccurate about it, compared to Trainspotting?

that's because you're slack jawed faggot

>he did that on purpose to kill the pain
No, he literally explained his reasoning: "I'll blow it otherwise." Which is retarded. Junkies are experts at finding veins. Stop defending bad writing.

I forgot he said that. Excuse me. But if you want to talk about shitty writing the last fifteen minutes of Trainspotting come instantly to mind.

...

I just lucked out with indeed m80, applied and actually got a call back (I've sent over 200 applications so far). I got really stressed out because applications were taking up to 40 minutes for shit tier work and nobody was acknowledging. I also stated that I was available at all hours, somewhat nearby and highly flexible. Of course, over 18 and lied a bit about my previous work experience.

rt is for retards

you're a retard for making this jpg that proves nothing

they overemphasized it visually to get the point across. t wasn't an entirely implausible situation.

did you not get the impression that Trainspotting felt more balanced? like real life? you get the ups and downs that addiction brings.
Requiem was a depress fest, seemed unrealistic.
I still like it, didn't mean to come across as hating it, just prefer Trainspotting, seems more accurate to me

>trainspotting is entertaining but it's way more of a movie movie, with quippy dialogues and unrealistic situations
Have you ever heard an ex-junkie tell stories about their experiences as a junkie? That's literally the way they talk about it. It's not constant "my life is hell." it's more like "I did a bunch of crazy shit that was fun at the time, and is funny to talk about now, but it's pretty fucked up in hindsight."

Im not that guy but what the fuck was that huge public drug market that took place in after-hours supermarket? No real dealer would ever trade in such place

...

go back to rt retard

>Trainspotting
>worst toilet in Scotland
>dead baby scene
>Tommy dying of AIDS
>kicking scene
>glamorous
whaaaaat?

Yeah I see where you're coming from. As I said in the original post I made, Trainspotting is more concerned with making the characters relatable by having them talk about Sean Connery and the like. Requiem is concerned with showing characters who are in a rut who try to ascend but end up further down. I love both for different reasons, but I must give the edge to Requiem because I have a fascination for stories about failure. And the Ellen Burstyn performance.

>and you have no idea about drugs it is

What a fucking retard you would have to be to write this. Requiem perfectly captured what it was like to slowly slip away from real life to addiction.

Yes I agree that whole scene was nuts.

Harry is pawning his mom's TV for junk money at the beginning of the film. he's already gone. the movie is just about how they go from gone to dead inside.

the sjwredditor is triggered downvote me faggot
>KEK
>E
>K

Wrong. RFAD is a melodrama of drugs, drugs are the way to portrait the fuck up lives of a group. It's a roller coaster that only can go down.

Trainspotting in the other hand tries to portrait drugs accurately as possible, they show the fun side of drugs but also the downsides, lower class, growing up and Scotland 90s.

Technically RFAD is impressive in a lot of montages but besides the Perfect Blue scene the rest of the scenes aren't that memorable. Trainspotting in the other hand is a staple of movie culture, from the dialogue of choosing life, Renton's withdraw from drugs, the entire ending. Danny Boyle's technique is by far superior to the one of Darren.

having cleaned up after actual dead rotting junkies, no movie goes far enough in depicting them.

she was freaking great in that movie, do doubt

>lesson
it does, dumb frog poster. do drugs and be a loser.

trainspotting? lul drugs are cool!

>they show the fun side of drugs
where is the fun side? where? you didn't understand the movie at all. in fact, the most "fun" scenes they have in the movie is the ones where they are "clean" (nightclub scene, shooting SPud with the popgun, etc)

>That's literally the way they talk about it. It's not constant "my life is hell." it's more like "I did a bunch of crazy shit that was fun at the time, and is funny to talk about now, but it's pretty fucked up in hindsight."
no, sometimes, usually it's more of a "yeah I did this drug and I ran my life in to the ground with criminal charges, but I just needed to get more and more high" I watched a movie with a junkie. just the way they talk and everything is corny movie dialogue. it's depicted better in requiem because they're having fun and laughing and you see their "big schemes" as pathetic as it really is.

no need to explain user the people who say RFAD is better are millennials they will never get it because they where just a sperm drop at that time

>redditor

lol you are insane, back to rt nigger

Yeah drug users live for reminiscing about other times they've done drugs.

>kid
HAHAHAHA

so you haven't seen trainspotting, ok

*NO doubt

shit

You clean up after crime scenes and the like?

i have. the fact that there's a sequel supports it.

yeah the main character wanted out, but he fell back into it. whereas requiem shows the most far out consequence of drugs

elaborate

The escape reality, they hang out with friends and it feels good. It doesn't try to hide the fact using drugs feels good but they also don't hide the fact the terrible consequences of being an addict.
Renton in the book is even more explicit about it-Short time ocean, long life poison

The whole movie is about growing up, Renton in the end of the movie decides to mature and goes for a better life, which he has at least in Porno.

Requiem for a Dream is better. Every single night my fraternity had a party, for all 3 years I lived in the house, there would be an "ass to ass" chant at some point in the early morning.

this
also this
New Sup Forums is "I'm a shut in self obsessed narcisist psychopath neo-nazi and i have wet dreams about murdering people every night, i'm an outcast because i'm batshit insane and people run away from me on sight".
Sup Forums remains the main hive for social outcasts, all that changed is that the first group isn't as ostracized anymore.
Most people from the first group now either post on reddit, or make content for youtube/twitch. Not icluding the few basement dwellers that now just enhabit another non popular chan.
I know people don't want to hear this, but it's the truth: the old userbase moved on and became the new "norm" the new userbase hates.
The new userbase moved in and remodeled the groundwork that was laid by the same people they now hate.

It's kinda funny because they're the literal definition of "YOU MADE THIS? I MADE THIS, WE WUZ KINGS" but don't even realize it.

Hired by the estate or family to come clean up the scene, collect content, find important documents and the like. It's a small part of my job. We mainly clean up after fires/floods, wind, asbestos and the like. Restoration company.
