We're in the EU, Russia might intervene, but most of all Moldova is poor as fuck and many people there are russians/mongrels and we don't want them in our country.

Russia is a important trading partner. Moldova doesn't produce anything other than wine, and Russia is like the only country that bothers to buy their wine.

Also Moldova have decent relationship with Russia. Lot of Moldovans are Russified, and speaks Russian.

You both forget that NATO isn't just US. And US is far away, the decision will mostly lie on the western europe. This already happened a couple of times in the past, don't be so surprised it might happen again.

That makes no sense. I mean sure, some western EU countries might refuse to join, but the US probably won't. Not to mention other eastern EU countries that are threatened by Russia, and probably Turkey.
