You haven't read anything by Gippi yet? You probably should change that. Garage Band and Notes for a War story were fricking great, though the other Dagos here apparently pick some of his other works over those two.
Bonelli's still releasing a lot of good stuff, I particularily fancied Lilith, but John Doe and David Murphy - 911 show that other companies got the touch as well.
There are of course other classics like Alan Ford, Corto Maltese, Rat-Man and Dylan Dog.
The artist Magnus generally is an okay pick for the art, he did a lot of wierd pornographic stuff during his career though. Had a lifeling obsession with chinese erotic shortstories and illustrated bunch of them. Great costumes in those.
