Brazil is usually not cut off and Greenland is populated only on the coast.
Nowadays it makes more sense to cut the Atlantic than the Pacific 2bh, the Atlantic has very few isles. The only con of the Pacific-centered map is that it puts most of the landmass on the periphery of the map, Atlantic-centered is better in that regard.

The only thing that is actually curious is how they indicate Sakhalin and the Kurils as neither Japanese nor Russian (nobody has yet given me an actual explanation for that )

asia centered map is like YYYY/MM/DD
both make as much sense as each other just slightly different
