Why is this considered the scariest movie of all time? it's not even top 5

why is this considered the scariest movie of all time? it's not even top 5

Then name your top 5

Critics tend to not like movies that are actually scary...They only praise horror films like this or self-aware ironic ones

what are the top 5 then?

it was a different time

watch a shitty copy recorded for the nth time on a VHS film alone at night and tell me that again

You have to watch scary movies as a kid to really appreciate them. Also it was ahead of its time generally. People actually thought the film itself was haunted or possessed when it came out

Have you seen the movie?

Max von sydow is a good lad

My parents took me to church every sunday and raised me to be a good boy.
I never followed religion in my formative years but I physically cant watch this movie.

Even though his mother sucks cocks in hell?
Spoiler: Her maiden name was Sneed. it's in the ultimate director's cut

blair witch
the wailing
the conjuring
babadook
train to busan

but can you metaphysically watch this movie? or even psychically?

Made during a time when critics were still largely Christian, and not liberal atheist dykes.

Also, the tone was much more horrific than today's internet standard. This young girl masturbating with a crucifix till she bleed was feint inducing. Plus the language

Bad b8.

saged

How do I sage?

There's no down arrow on this dumb sight

he can conceptually watch the movie using his imagination. i'm sure he could spiritually realize it in prayer if needed also

It's fucking disgusting how every living person lists this as the scariest movie of all time. Especially on r/horror.

...

>babadook
>top five horror
I mean it was decent flick but it wasn't horrorkino.

1.) John Carpenter's The Thing
2.) Halloween
3.) Night of the Living Dead
4.) Evil Dead (although it's more of an action-comedy at times)
5.) VHS

Because stuff happened during the filming

oh whoaaaaaaa dude is that why Sympathy For The Devil is such a scary song too????

...

movies are not scary.

I never see this mentioned so here you go, better than most of your suggestions too.

I think the main reason this movie scared so many back in the day was because they felt is was playing around too much with the supernatural. A lot of people felt that simply watching such a movie could bring a curse on themselves, their families, and possibly even make them more susceptible to demonic possession. Those that don't understand this probably never grew up in a religious household. For some people buying this movie on VHS was almost like hanging a voodoo doll in your house.

I saw this on netflix like 10 years ago. good shit that Takashi Miike

no shit

that doesnt make it still scary

watever, I thought it be obvious I picked 5 shit horror flicks that get mentioned here all the time

How many horror movies have you actually seen? Are you a teenage girl?

Pornos with ur mom are

ROASTED

This is actually a decent list

>I... I was only pretending to have shit taste

None of those are scary

bamp

anyone have the demon face that pops up in the priest's dream?

This came out in the 70s when this shit was hardcore you could argue grindhouse movies were more gruesome but they never grossed 441,306,145 dollars

>Evil Dead (although it's more of an action-comedy at times)
You haven't even seen the original.

>all these redditors using the "it came out in the 70's" excuse

fuck off
