I hate Netflix

I hate Netflix

Bring back Blockbuster

This is the path you chose

blockbuster sucked nostalgia fag

I miss the stale Blockbuster smell of buttered popcorn and piss

I'm thinking about getting Playstation Vue because i sort of unironically miss channel surfing. I just want to flip through channels and then end up watching Nascar or something.

Yeah I miss it too

Friday night get there at 7:30

Every good new movie is checked out

Yeah, I loved going to that shit hole to get censored movies. I loved driving all the way the fuck there only to find out the movie I wanted hasn't been in stock for two fucking weeks. I loved the chore of having to drive the fuck there just to return movies.

Blockbuster nostalgia is for idiots. That place sucked shit.

(((Capitalism))) doesn't care about your feelings, goyim. $10 a month for all the shows and movies you can get. What more do you want? Consume, goy. Consume!

>used to work at blockbuster
>store was still profitable.
>They killed and liquidated everything for the corperates to cash out.
>Rest of employees were left wrecked.

It was a great fucking job. Free rentals and people were nice to you so you could tell them if shit sucked or not. Only work you ever did was alphabetizing.

>Nascar
You're the worst kind of fag

Haha faggot, my mom would take me right after school and we'd get the latest flick and best games just released.

Blockbuster was so shitty. 7 dollars for one movie for 2 days, with overdue fees AND having to drive back to the store

Compare with netflix, 10 a MONTH, unlimited views of whatever is on there, all from your couch
Fucking nostalgiafags

Fuck you, nigger. Go watch pickle Rick

>log on to netflix
>same 10 shitty movies on rotation

Fuck Netflix

You sound lazy and entitled. You deserve nothing

I will you fucking nigger faggot

Blockbuster had a deal where you could pay 15 dollars a month to rent any game for the whole month, and they were always stocked with new releases as welll as dozens of other older and lesser known games. It was perfect. Thanks to blockbuster I was able to play and beat almost every game made for the 360 and ps3 for less than a 100 dollars.

Nope. Fuck you. People who really cared about movies NEVER supported Cockbuster. That company actually CENSORED their content you dumb millenial fucktard.

You only feel nostalgic about it because mommy took you there on Friday nights. Real movie fans went to indie and mom and pops.

You're a dumb fucking millenial shit bag

is it weird if you only torrent?

>Blockbuster had a deal where you could pay 15 dollars a month to rent any game for the whole month, and they were always stocked with new releases as welll as dozens of other older and lesser known games

This was towards the end of BB and I agree, that promotion was fan-fucking-tastic

rent any game for any length of time. So you could rent two dozen different games a month, if you wanted to, for 15 dollars.

>Go to shit buster
>800 copies of the water boy
>Nothing else
Yeah, gee. That place sure was swell.

Haha your mom sounds like da bomb! I hope she out lives you haha

I'd rather not spend $5 for a one night rental of a movie that's sold out 90% of the time. $10 for thousands of movies a month seems like a better deal.

Hollywood video was better

>censored movies
That has literally never happened.

My local video store was called Video View it even had an adult xxx back row

>tfw going with your dad to rent a movie
>walk by xxx row sneak a peak at some boobies
>instant boner +precum

The feels

Disney is starting it's own video streaming service, it's pulled (or going to pull) all the titles it has under its control. Seems like the first break is happening in digital video streaming services, Netflix for college students and adults, and whatever Disney will have for a younger audience

then another split will occur, probably based on genres or era of films, then there will probably be national ones(China, India, Japan) where people in those countries will make their own streaming services

it's all coming full circle Netflix-Plebs

>no leftist propaganda pushing at blockbuster
You might be right user. Streaming sucks dick

>tfw shit internet
>tfw no Redbox
>tfw no video rental stores
Please come back.

I still have one video store by my house. Don't know how it stays open. Has to be laundering money or some shit.

I still have a Family Video in my shitty small town. They have a Redbox right outside.

>blockbuster
>out of stock
>censored movies
Spotted the weird hentai spergfag from back in the day

You have to had been a kid when it was around to get nostalgia from it

>rent from blockbuster for years
>2-day rentals always due by midnight
>get a late fee one day
>"oh movies are due by noon now, goy. Didn't you read your reciept"

>:[

>fine...
>pay penalty, keep renting from BallBuster like a good paypig
>make sure to return tape by 11:30 next time
>get ANOTHER late fee
>hey i turned it on time
>the computer says it was late. Fuck you, pay me.
> Hang around return slot next time I turn a tape in, this time at 11:45AM to test a theory...
> Watch employee wait until 12:01 to scan tapes back in.

Good riddance.

>That has literally never happened.
Are you fucking kidding me you millenial idiot?

Blockbuster used to edit movies for content. Not all, but some. Anything NC17. This was so common that even King of the Hill made a joke about it.

The one near where i grew up never died

You left out the part where after returning a movie, Blockbuster would apply a late charge unless you argued with them and proved you had actually returned it on time. My blockbuster would pull that shit every time I rented from them.

Blockbuster was awful, and everyone hated it back when they actually existed. I think the only people who miss it were kids that never had to deal with any of their bullshit. If you didn't have a better local place, you missed out. I remember several websites specifically dedicated to hating Blockbuster.

>kneeling in front of Need For Speed: HP2

So much feels. Best driving game from my childhood.

physical copies beat streaming any day of the week any year of the century

All you pirating faggots ruined fuckin everything!

ah-bloo-bloo

I got rid of all my CD's and DVD's. Only media I still own in physical form is video games.

local video rentals>>>>>>>>>>>blockbuster

piracy didn't have anything to do with it. high-speed internet giving way to streaming killed it. downloading a movie used to take hours on early broadband.

The movie place I worked for movies were due back by close a week after you initially rented it. We would check the drop box one more time after closing and scan them all back in before leaving. So you were guaranteed to be counted for turning them in that day.

>Grew up in Los Angeles
>Had Laser Disc and VHS
>Dave's Laser Palace
>Jerry's Video
>Rocket Video
>Mondo Video
>Dozens of local Mom & Pops

You poor kids don't know what you missed.

Everything about the 00s sucked.

non-blockbusters were the shit.
I was just happy to rent a single game.
at some point I hated blockbuster because they'd keep harassing me about a video they lost. I might have returned it to the wrong store but I didnt steal anything. that turned blockbuster into hell

Fuck off no one bought or rent anymore movies cuz u could stream it free, slugs and leeches u r

That's not really Blockbuster, that's something movie studios do to send to any store because there's a ton of legal regulation around NC-17 movies in family video stores.

If you feel like renting movies for 5€ you can do it online on iTunes, Amazon, Google play etc.

Fuck blockbuster. The true kinoplex was the local video place that had kinder late fee policy and friendlier employees.

>tfw foreign/classic/cult movie rental spot went out of business
It's just not fair

>That's not really Blockbuster

Wrong fag. It was Blockbuster. It was their policy. This is all very well known and the only reason you don't know about it is because you were a child at the time. They also censored music sold at their Blockbuster music stores.

It's embarrassing how little you know.

>kinoplex
Hey thanks for reminding me. I need to add that to my filter list.

Mine is still in business, just occupying half the space they used to. I think the only thing keeping them going is porn rentals, but it's still cool to go in there every once in a while and get an old Kung Fu movie or something.

Lel good for you buddy

You'd be better off with a Roku and a SlingTV subscription, and maybe the XTV app. Both are great for channel surfing.

The internet killed Blockbuster.
You could rent a game or a movie for £3 for a few nights and at the time that was killer. Now you can buy and own movies and games for that price off eBay if you can find someone not trying to jew you.

I for one care about the quality of my hentai, so I would never stream it.

I nostalgia over that place much more then the shitty Blockbuster in my town. Got me into lots of obscure Korean Thrillers/horror and anime that they don't have at Blockbuster. So much cooler.

you don't have redbox in UK?

>So much feels. Best driving game from my childhood.
>Not NFS: Underground or Gran Turismo 3

>redbox in UK
Are those the rent stations at supermarkets? Nah, man. We don't got 'em.

There was no more opulent treat then renting a fucking video game from blockbuster video circa early 90's

>Blockbuster
>2000s

hello gen z

With all the 16K shenanigans we will go back to renting tapes eventually

Anyone else put silly things in the movie return slot? One of my friends stuck his dick in there and pissed all over.

Fuck off, underageb&. Physical copies were absolute garbage; DVDs with their fucking 5 minutes of unskippable ads and anti-piracy warnings before you even get to play the movie, or VHS that faggots never rewound and parts of the movie constantly skipped because the tape was damaged.

That's just being an asshole for no reason.

netflix selection sucks hard

are they including less new movies because the money is going towards shows?

Is Cable 2.0 pretty much inevitable at this point?

lol

Yeah. I was in 6th grade when Jackass blew up on MTV. We were heavily influenced by those scumbags.

Your friend is the reason why they started fucking locking it after hours

It infuriates me that every time I search for a movie on Netflix it tells me it's not available to stream but I can get it on DVD. Is that included in my monthly subscription?

Yea but that was all part of the experience. Sounds like your 12 btw

Please don't use nonsensical buzzwords. It makes you sound unintelligent and I'd like to give you more credit than that.

it might also be that every company is setting up a streaming service so they wont license their stuff out anymore.

its going to get worse.

I feel as though I need to clear some things up about why Blockbuster Video is closing, and why they went chapter 11 in the first place a few years ago

>Blockbuster Video used to be owned by a greedy jew owned company named Viacom
>Viacom are money-grubbing whores
>Viacom buys all of blockbuster's rentals and merch with loans, instead of profits
>every year use profit to pay off loans, take out new loans to buy new merchandise
>blockbuster decides to split from viacom because they are tyrants
>viacom takes all of blockbuster's profits from that year, but does not pay off the loans
>the loans were taken out under blockbuster's name, not viacom's, so the loans technically belong to blockbuster
>viacom does not tell this to blockbuster corporate
>when blockbuster finds out, there is already a shit ton of interest, and viacom has all of their profits
>desperately try every quarter to pay off loans
>1 mil loan becomes 3 mil then 5 mil, finally tens of millions of dollars are owed
>go chapter 11, file for bankruptcy
>Dish network buys Blockbuster Video, because they want to use the iconic Blockbuster Video logo to sell tv subscriptions, plus wants brick and mortar stores to sell tv subscriptions
>closes unprofitable stores that were still around after chapter 11 closings
>has 300 locations left
>all are profitable
>blockbuster is profitable as a whole again, especially in the North East
>fast forward 2 years to 2013
>Dish decides to go exclusively to streaming
>considers selling BBV
>no fewer than 3 companies are interested in buying
>but Dish wants to keep Blockbuster logo for streaming service, cant do that if they sell the company
>decide to liquidate stores, put 3000 people out of work, all over the rights to a logo
>tell employees they are being laid off AFTER telling the news networks

Blockbuster's problem was it was owned by two shitty corporations.

its not just that.

id be happy if they included a lot of old movies but they dont even do that. i swear i see more indian films than anything else.

Also Blockbuster had the opportunity to buy Netflix for 50 mil back when it mainly mailed out DVD's directly. It deserved to go under.

>dated a white trash girl once who lived in the middle of nowhere
>two hour drive just to see her
>but she was cute, sucked good dick and was in walking distance from a rental store
>she had shit taste, just your typical chick flicks
>but damn she had a comfy ass house
>small, almost like a shack in size but had a good time in there

I feel like dating another white trash girl. I'm feeling nostalgic for my college years.

Not nowadays. It's like $5 more? Last time I looked, which was years and years ago.

>tfw no more North Country Video
>555
>5 dollars
>5 movies
>5 days
JUST

I'm glad i'm not a pleb who doesn't know how to torrent, so I can get any movie in existence without dealing with whatever's in stock at Blockbuster or Netflix's limited selection.

There is one near my parents house. We were getting dinner one night and I asked them how it was still open and they said it was 2/3rds porn and adult assistive device store

I'm completely the opposite. I grew up as torrenting became popular but just never learned how to do it. My friend tried to teach me and I felt retarded.

Fuck both. Go pirate!

>adult assistive device

Blockbuster had a chance to buy netflix and passed. Fuck them.

Actually, it sounds like you are 12. If you had to deal with that shit for years, you'd appreciate where we are now much more. I know I do.

And Blockbuster sucked dick anyway. Local video stores had better selection and better prices most of the time.

You'd have to be an absolute retard to not only use Netflix' shitty service and shitty selection, but PAY for it when torrenting is better in every concievable eay

Blockbuster was the Gamestop of movies you fucking under-18 clown nigger

>10 copies of the same movie
>mainstream-ness everywhere

Yet that's blockbuster

Did any artist actually benefit from Rental Movies? Sure, exposure but I'm sure all of the used video profits are more harmful than good.
So yeah, this and their fallout with Netflix is a deserved bankruptcy.

>Excuse me senor do you work here?

And you could also haggle on late fees.

Blockbuster would cost more for less however their selection at least would be more interesting then shitty netflix which is losing their selection to major companies
Also BB had better anime then Netflix does, Netflix anime selection is garbage not a single thing worth watching outside of YuYuYu and LWA

it would be very unhygienic desu
