You wankers blew up my Nanas home when you bombed Liverpool, so fuck you for that.

My Great Uncle Andrew was a bookie, and drafted into the (Brit) Army. He was killed in 1942 at El Alemien.

My other Great Uncle Walter was crazy. He was a raging communist in Scotland, so he fought in Spanish civil war. In WW2 he was a stoker on merchant convoys. He was torpedoed 3 fucking times and survived. According to my grandfather he lost his mind. He said he used to talk to trees and harass people on the street.

No clue on my mothers (Canadian) side so yeah.

My grand grandfather was a commie. One day he got in a fight against germans troops and they knocked him out.
The other got sent to Germany to work in a factory or something.
My grandmother also told me that she witnessed the fights between allied bombers and german aaa and it was kinda traumathizing (she was 8 or something).

I rate 4/10

My great grandpa worked as a mechanic for japs in ww2. He can speak japanese ( but not fluent) and japs sent him to japanese school.

He told me japs are harsh people. He got slapped once for not bowing down to them. But once you gain their trust, they treat you like a friend.

>My grandmother also told me that she witnessed the fights between allied bombers and german aaa and it was kinda traumathizing (she was 8 or something).

Might have been one of my grandfathers. Most of the stories he told was about this. He actually wanted to become a pilot but was wounded and ended operating FLAKs on airfields in northern France. Most his war times stories were about this. He told with a lot of pession about how impressive it was when they saw the bomber formations coming, barely more than black dots in the sky the really big stuff began to fire (he told me they had some really huge AA Guns (15cm, iirc) from Czechia or something) and the first ones dropped. Later the 12,8cm opend fire and when they could already see the bombers quite well the 8,8 started to fire in the formations killing quite a few of these pigs.

The other one was an mechanic on a bomber that was shot down over Russia and never wanted to talk about war. For some reasons he got a close combat medal, tho.

Overall our family had a lot of luck, the only one I know that died was an cousin of my grandfather. They never found him and he just had a small stone one the grave of his parents.

>they treat you like a friend.
*like a pet

working & living a good life

Great Grandad was a Kiwi Bomber Pilot that flew for the RAF in operations against Germany, was shot down and the only crew member to survive.

Grandad on me mums side had 2 uncles that flew Spitfires but I don't know in what theatre. And I think me great grandma had cousins that fought in Kokoda.

Australia at the time was the largest Allied uniformed population with i think 1/4 of all males serving in some way

>killed quite a few
Not enough to save Dresden ;^)

made asia great

One great grandfather died in Tannenberg line mowing down hordes of russian vermin together with his waffen SS brothers and the other one witnessed his family getting sent to gulag and lived 11 years as a partisan

I had a few who were fighting for the Blue Division

大東亜共栄圏 part 2 when?

Wtf theres a dating site for commies?

was your grandfather artillery officer in kursk ? my grandfather was cavalry platoon sargent and his company rushed artillery positions in middle days of kursk, he killed artillery officer and took sword of his back home as a trophy which has prussian eagle and nazi insignia

My great grand-father and his English friend died together in Berlin. Our families still speak to this day too, I should really write the whole story one day before I forget it.

Searching for Jews

maybe by china this time..

what they were doing in berlin lol ? espionage against soviets ?

One grandfather died in Stalingrad and one other sunk with a submarine in the Atlantic ocean.

My grandfather enlisted in the Kriegsmarine and was captured by the Russians in Czechoslovakia
the other was only 9 and he was living in occupied territory
don't know about my grandmothers

Yes, it's called Reddit, and you should go back

Wtf was a Navy man doing in a landlocked country?

end of war, not much of manpower available so they sent what they could

and your father/grandfather was conscripted to fight in afghanistan right ?

Hey look mate, my ancestors didn't fight off sandal wearing fish mongers in the Coral Sea just so some LEAF can insult me on a Mongolian basket weaving forum 76 years later. Just think before you speak next time

what said

while u australian pussibois were playing war with rommel in africa or bombing some japanese rice farmers, our grandfatehrs were in war...in total war in the eastern front.

They were all kids. How old are you guys that your grandparents fought in WW2?

Also iirc the really huge (train) artillery was operated by the navy.

great grandfather 1 fought in the burma campaign and china and was a friend of chiang kai shek
great grandfather 2 killed japanese
both us army on my dad's side
don't know if i had any of mum's english family in the war

In my case it was my great grandfathers who fought for the blue division
My grandparents were probably playing in some bombed out ruin

Mom side - joined red army in 44, liberated Hungary and Austria
Dad side - was GULAGed before war, returned to Ukraine after Stalin dead

they were just young
my grandfather was around 19 or something when the war began

actually, my grand-grandfather fought on the other side. I don't know any details, but probably he was a soviet grunt

>was GULAGed before war
for what reason ?

My granpa joined the war pretty late, but killed many soviets.

oh, you are russian ?
kinda sucks to die in a winning war

My ancestor was weakly, so he was a chore in a Japanese base.
So he didn't go to a battlefield, the WW2 ended.

yes

half the men joined ss divisions. the other half were former police squad members so they ended up being partisans (forest brothers). the ss part mostly survived being captured by brits and was scattered all over the world from canada to australia as prisoners. the partisans were all killed by russians, some of them tortured to death, after they blew up a supply train line

One great-grandfather was Belarus partisan fighting against nazis, survived Aushwitz and Mauthausen-Gusen, wrote a diary about his experiences there. Later was hounded by the KGB for being the only one who survived from his squad and for surviving 2 concentration camps. They only fucked off when he was about 80 and passed away.

they said he was working at a church in manchuria
he moved to here because soviet invaded manchuria in 1945

based

My grandfather who was 15 newly married managing his farm got blocked by a japanese soldier, the soldier asked for directions and he couldn't understand him so he ignored the soldier and moved on while riding his carabao, the jap got offended and imprisoned him in the barracks and spent the night there. The his brother came and bribed the soldier with nuts to set him free.

Other grandpa was recruited to the guerilla army and sniped 1 thousand japanese soldiers.

and since he was a chore bushido wasn't expected of him, so he lived of his years in peace and quiet

My grandpa was wounded in WW2. No idea how much enemies he have killed.

NONE HIS TEAM WAS CARRYING HIM

But before he get wounded, there was a battle. But he died before I was born, so no information gained about how it was in the war. Ich spreche auch deutsch - I speak gernan too

>The his brother came and bribed the soldier with nuts to set him free.
lol

Grandfather 1 - Navy doctor who was stationed somewhere in the Indian ocean, never saw the slightest action.

Grandfather 2 - Communications guy who was at the Western front, but never in the fray (i.e. never actually fighting).

Maybe some of my present circumstances actually make sense when I think about my forefathers kek.

>Later was hounded by the KGB

Man, they were really crazy.
Gf is Russian and her great grandfather became POW in Germany and had to work here. After the war returned home and was shot there a little later as collaborator with the Nazis by I think the KGB. Her grandfather pretty much fought all his life for his fathers reputation and finally in the early 90s got a letter that it all just was a misstake and his father is not longer seen as a traitor etc.

too bad.
ich kann deutsch auch, ia i ruski znaiu. but why you state the fact taht you know german ?

Nothing, going to wars is for faggots.

My grandmother told me about how they had nothing to eat and they eated plants. In soviet Russia they stored canning amount for several years. Everybody who knew what hunger is stored food in canning for several years.

They were one of these
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quakers

So they didn't have to fight, worked as a medic I think.

German surgery helped me to stay healthy. I lived in Germany many years.

You are right.
After all, he died of illness.

My grandpas brother was a big guy. Carried a machine gun for the marines in the pacific.

Granddad on my mom's side fought in the Phillipines late in the Pacific theatre with the Army, then later lived in Tokyo while waiting for his service to finish. Has lots of cool pictures from his time in Japan

Except they didn’t because you’re that LARPing faggot with a poster of some dead spanish fascist and a red ensign in your increasingly lonely bedroom.

My gran joined army in 1942 as a volutneer. After training camp participaded in almost suicidal acts called recon by fighting (paзвeдкa бoeм) as rifleman. Was wounded there. Then, returned to frontlines into cavalry division. They had no horses, just tanks, trucks and infantry. He described war as "continiously moving somewhere". He had good impression about Germans. Prisoners were hard-working, self-organized and always repaired and improved everything around them. Romanians were cowards who just ran instead of fight until reached Romania and then capitulated.
He was avoiding to tell about kills, but ones he said that there were frags using rifle, while from the PPSh could not hit anyone.
Returned home only in 1947.

my grandpa banged some french woman and my other grandpa shot some poles :^)

My Great-Grandfather fought for the Italians in Libya. After the war, he abandoned his wife and kids

Granddad was an airplane mechanic and my great grand uncle was a pilot. The latter died in battle with the Japanese. The former, being in the Chinese air force, was out of work fairly quickly and spent some time kicking around in the countryside.

Ofcourse not, to my knowledge no estonians fought in Afghanistan

Are you same user who was talking about that there were mostly Estonians than Germans in Tannenberg line battle?

subhuman collaborationist

Some Moroccans were taken by the french colonists to fight the Germans. One of my maternal grandfathers was conscripted and sent to europe but he killed a french officer and deserted. I'm so proud :)

One was deaf from childhood and the other one drove a bus during the war

strong

there were about 2000 estonian soldiers fighting there with 36 dead according to my google-fu

No idea tbx I know of a distant relative losing his eye in WWI but that's all we barely mobilised people during WWII

One of my Great-Grandfathers was a soldier in the italian army. He fought in Libya and was captured by the british there.

My granpda saw my great-grandpa for the first time whe he was 7 in 1947 (when he was freed iirc)

What?
Very interesting indeed. I havent seen a single person irl who has fought in Afghanistan for the soviet uniom

they really don't want any attention since it was not "our" war, they did what they had to as conscripts

>blue division

36 people from estonia died, out of which 16 were Estonians, the rest were probably russians and thus not even considered humans

russians, ukrainians and belarussians. and i'm of the opinion none of us were considered human back then, but rather disposable assets

i'm of hugeonot heritage, my grandfather sold out the locations of hiding jews for extra food stams and money

You are correct, only difference is that Russians, Ukrainians ans Belarussians arent considered humans to this day

My family owned a lumber mill in Georgia. We used German and Italian POWs as labor. My Grandpa was too young to fight and my Great-Grandpa was too old. It was like that on both sides.

no mis mul muud üle jääb kui servameistri diagnoosiga nõustuda :D

Truly a brave Dutch freedom fighter.

my grandpa killed communist in his village (I would gladly do the same desu), while his brother died being an officer serving for germans in Lithuania

one served as a comms specialist, intercepted german comms of a planned attack and was suspected of feeding false info for two days by nkvd before the info was confirmed from other sources, because born in Ukraine and many relatives were kulaks

later got a medal for bravery under fire, got a light wound. nice old man

My wife grand was drafted in 1942 and for a long time was in a military camp not on the front line. They somehow rebelled there, but were justified. Then he did something in some airports in the south. Then they were sent to the landing operation in the Crimea and were completely destroyed by Germans. He miraculously survived, two days after the defeat he was evacuated by a patrol boat. Once again he served outside the frontlines. When a successful offensive began on the Crimea, he was transferred to the division there. There he encountered a sniper. Soldier ahead got a bullet and thought that grand very forcefully hit him in the back, but blood went off. With second and third shot sniper stopped the truck, blocking the passage of the rest troops. No one found a sniper, he did not shoot anymore. After the battles in Ukraine he was a prisoners guard. Returned in early 1946.

loce those moments where Butthurt belt wishes conflict with reality
I mean thishappens to Russians too, but isn't it a curious feeling, realizing that Estonians living in USSR were actual USSR citizens going to work, serving in the army, perhaps going to Communist party meetings. Insteod of this fictional dream about constant fight for independence.

put down the crack pipe. now

Great grandfather served in the wehrmacht at the end of the war. Supposedly he surrendered to the first western allies he saw. Had an great uncle who died in North Africa while with the British army too probably a few others that i don't know about too

> crack pipe
I wish
we're a poor country even weed is expensive
im just drunk
and your father was an oktyabryonok and pioneer, wore red tie and read poems about Lenin without being forced to

>grandpa gets assigned pioner (demoliton)
>friendly fire whilst crawling back from night ops
>has to crawl around 10km in snow

>mortar fire
>jumps in fox hole
>an officer on a breakdown tries to make him attack alone at gunpoint
>kicks his ass
>story doesn't continue

>enlists as a medic due shortage of them
>hauls peeps missing vitals and limbs

that's pretty much all that trickled down, didn't tell my daddio or uncles much and less has been told to me, I assume

My paternal grandfather was a proper commie and a party member till KC PZPR fell apart, born in Lwów, joined the 1st Polish, took Berlin, was resettled to Lower Silesia where he met his wife. She later became the head of the State Agricultural farm (PGR, equivalent of USSR's sovkhoz). Had 4 children.

My maternal grandfather was a partisan, as soon as shit hit the fan in his vicinity he took his mauser and went innawoods.
He met his future wife. During the war she was still a very young teen and she was bringing her older girlfriends to the woods so partisans had something to fuck in the freetime. They got married a few years after the war, as soon as she became "legal" to marry.
Had 7 children.

>and she was bringing her older girlfriends to the woods so partisans had something to fuck in the freetime
wtf I want to be a partisan now

Removing nazis and japs.

I think partisan is slightly too much praise for him but that's how I was always told the story. I think in Polish the word "partyzant" has a lesser weight than English.
He definitely wasn't aligned with any underground organisation. All they did was attack small rear-echelon units, random transports, kill a few people etc. with his mates. He was the WW2 era /k/.

He did kill the last german guy in his village. After the soviet """""liberashun""""" he was spared because he became a snitch for the new power.
He wanted to blackmail my grandpa, because he knew what grandpa spent entire war doing (instead of tending to his fields as per the official version).
So grandpa grabbed a hammer, caved his head in and buried in the woods. Lmao.

I've seen pictures of my grandma when she was young. She was a proper cutie, no wonder gramps wanted to dick her so much.

Finland was not occupied. So, no collaborationism there
