Original mini series had god tier practical effects

>original mini series had god tier practical effects
>new movie will have godawful CGI

why the fuck can't horror be good again?
the original It was the pinnacle of horror movies and now the remake seems like it will be forgettable, maybe not "bad" but there won't be anything outstanding about it

>original mini series had god tier practical effects

no it looked like ass

Shills inbound.

Because you can't move on.

>they used great practical effects

and it will still look better than CGI
why? because it's real, you feel like you could just go there and touch it
same thing doesn't happen with CGI

it was stop motion, how else would they have done this? literally squish tim curry into a 6 inch hole?

could've used something that didn't look like complete trash.

Except almost all of the effects we've seen so far have been practical.

I think they were running low on money at this point, they didn't budget this series super well from what was said in the commentary.

THERE IS FREEDOM WITHIIN
THERE IS FREEDOM WITHOUUT

The stop motion didnt have to look like garbage though, that's hardly an excuse

What are they looking at, Sup Forums?

I have some questions.

What the fuck is going on with Stanley's hair back there?
What kind of gun is Bill holding?
WHat is that big ball of shit beside them?

I haven't noticed any CGI in the new movie, unless we see some psychedelic ritual of chud shit or a giant spider I doubt there will be much CGI

>GOD
>TIER

I think it's supposed to be like a Jew-fro, because he's a Jew. I agree he doesn't look neat enough.
I'm assuming it's a pellet gun or paintball gun, which would be the more modern version of a slingshot.
Scary shit to make the set more visually interesting.

Patrick Hockstetter?

No there's like a chunk of it missing, like he's been wounded or it got ripped out.

What, are they changing the time line of the original book? Is it taking place in modern time now?

It's hard to tell from such a low quality shot, could be he just has a large forehead and it's a bad part.

The practical vs cgi effects debate is retarded, the same way digital vs analog in music is. Both mediums have pros and cons, and are good when they're done well and bad when they're not. There's plenty of great cgi, and plenty of shit practical effects, quality is not tethered exclusively to one or the other.

Kid's arc takes place in the 80s rather than the 50s, the adult arc will be 2016.

If I find a bigger pic I'll post it.

Everything is 30 years up. 50s/80s is now 80s/Current.

the 80s. I read the directors reasoning and I agree, he said that the original series played off fears of kids from the 50s and this new generation wont be scared by any creature from the black lagoon or care about any greasers and I agree. There was thought put into that decision, as much as it pains me to admit cuz I really liked the comfy feeling of 50s suburbia from the original.

There's one really shitty CGI balloon in the trailer that I hope isn't the finished effect. Beyond that it looks alright.

>I am a retard who feels the need to shill this made-for-tv low budget goofy pile of trash because I cannot let go of my nostalgia and I hate fun

The other reasoning is they were "filming what they knew" and what they know best is the 80s. I'm alright with that, really.

you're the one who sounds like you hate fun.

yeah I think that's respectable. Will make it feel less stale and more authentic.

So if they're not scared of werewolves anymore, what's this part gonna be?

Hmmm. Not sure how I feel about this honestly. I guess I can sort of understand the reasoning, still kinda makes me sad.

And there's nothing in the plot that necessarily requires it be in the 50s so it's not like the story has to be altered to make the timeline work. Just swap little things like the slingshot for a pelletgun/paintball gun/whatever that gun is.

Would you laugh at his jokes, Sup Forums ?

Yes, and give him a big bloody steak too.

Werespider with a glow stick for dick.

Now that's just rad

Not sure, the director mentioned how the film has 'winks' to the old monster designs. But at the very least I know the Leper is in the new movie.

I wouldn't be surprised for the werewolf to get left in because they are pretty generic and pretty well known. But things like the Mummy and Creature from the Black Lagoon definitely would need to go.

He's just showing them his cool coke nail

Yeah, which sucks because I loved the mummy from the original. It was just a cool design

I'm pretty sure this kid got hurt. He's missing all his hair and the dark lines there look more like a scrape than more hair.

>What the fuck is going on with Stanley's hair back there?
He is jewish.
>What kind of gun is Bill holding?
Mike's cattle gun. Mike lives with his grampa who's family business is a slaughterhouse.
>What is that big pile of shit beside them?
Trophies from the people IT has killed over the years.

It'll be called "dicklight" and if you look at the orange dick light you'll have to suck it.

>cattle gun
Fuck, you're totally right.

>the original It was the pinnacle of horror movies
No it fucking wasn't.

Maybe the kid just has a bad hairline or a big dome. Don't be rude.

>the original It was the pinnacle of horror movies

OP meant to say The Thing but having his mouth full of cocks made him mistype it.

It was clearly bright and sunny out in the opening S.S. Georgie scene. It was incredibly lazy.

>pinnacle of horror movies
>a rated TV-14 made-for-tv mini series

There look to be some decent practical effects in the new one, but I agree. Horror films just don't look right anymore. They're too slick and clean looking. I miss dirty looking horror flicks. They're spoopier that way.

new movie will be so suck

Im reading the script now
Its pretty brazy cuz It is just in the kids houses and likes fucking with them to scare them so they taste better and he can overpower them (since It is actually really weak unless they're afraid).

Like It just goes into their house and like into their bedrooms and trolls them all day. Like in that scene he has his brothers corpse and then he floods the basement and makes Will go into the basement and then he sock puppets the bros body and then jumps out like OOOGA BOOGA BOOGA STOOPID DOG and then Will runs away all scare and thats the whole point. sick sadistic childish shit to scare a child that the clown guy actually enjoys doing. hes like that tails gets trolled comic where bugs bunny acts all gay and retarded

There's a shot in one of the trailers with Stan wearing bandages around his noggin while theyre standing in a circle.

Jesus Christ please never post again

Cute froggo

? u mad u suck like new pinnywise lol

Old pennywise had vibrant colors, classic clown makeup and Tim Curry did a good job

This new shit, is dark with grey colors because ""edgy"". his face look stupid, his teeth are all off and looks like rabbits teeth.
Generic cookie-cutter monster shit.

SHIT

>This new shit, is dark with grey colors because ""edgy"". his face look stupid, his teeth are all off and looks like rabbits teeth.
>Generic cookie-cutter monster shit.

That's a black and white photograph you retarded nigger

>LE SPOOKY GENERIC JUMPSCARE MONSTER DESIGN
>buck teeth and crossed eyes
>stupid wacky voice
>pop pop pop

damn him being folded in half like that is actually pretty disturbing

A Coisa.

bait thread? Bait thread. THE ONLY good thing about the Miniseries was Tim Curry. I mean Seth Green and Johnathan Brandis were alright, but all the effects, the entire part 2, none of that holds up, only Tim Curry hamming it up and still coming across creepy as fuck still works.

the villain in every horror movie is always a fucking demon nowadays

pennywise is not a demon he's an eldritch horror

An entire bag of Skittles next to Trayvon's body.

ooh soooooory

>Eds's arm is broken
>Richie's Glasses are actually super thick as described in the books, like coke bottle thick..
>Bill's got a dark reddish tint to his hair, in the books he's got auburn hair, not a blonde.
>New Pennywise's outfit is silver with orange pompoms

I do like how in some ways they're being really faithful to the source material in these little details.

kys

He's losing his hair, pls no bully.

I literally just finished watching the original It, it's better than I expected but at its core its a cheesy TV movie with one excellent performance at the center of it, and it you think it's the pinnacle of horror movies you don't know what you're talking about.

It'll probably be better than the new one though.

wasted first post

Is that Spanish for The Thing?

he's right tho

I'm just sad that Tim Curry is a shell of what he once was :(

>People actually believe a TV miniseries from 1990 that spent most of its budget on Curry had god-tier practical effects

read the book. They did those colors to fit with the book's description of his outfit being silver with orange.

...

I'm excited for this new movie. I was suspicious at first, but more and more I see lots of nice details, and lots of nods towards the original book. Not to mention Bill's performance, which I was worried about too.

This here.
I remember watching the original as a kid and it gave me a permanent fear of storm drains.

But when I watched it years later I saw how incredibly retarded it is and it doesn't hold up over time.

The Thing and some other horror movies are far superior to the original It.

Yeah, I'm hoping it stays close to the book, which is a masterpiece.

I really want the smoke hole scene.
It's probably not in there though.

They wanted it in there, the director talked about it but they didn't have enough money to make it in. I hear they possibly already shot it and it may appear in a directors cut.

>>original mini series
I watched about 20 minutes then stopped cause it was shit in every possible way

Will there be scenes of them as adults too or just the kid parts?

First movie focuses on only the kids. Possible second movie will cover the adult half in present day time.
