will they fuck up the new Dune movie? is it even possible to do the whole first book in one movie? I don't think so. it's my favourite book, I'm scared anons

So they're copying Magic cards?

...

Relax

Idris Elba is gonna make a great Paul Atreides

What new Dune movie?

>will they fuck up the new Dune movie?
>concept art shows someone in the desert during daytime, with bare hands and uncovered head
Yes, they will.

>"will they fuck up"

When dealing with modern Hollywood the answer to this will always be yes

just watch star wars and fill in the gaps

Dune should be an HBO series not a fucking movie.

fuck that I'm sick of every thing getting draged out and overly dramatised just to fit the hbo mandate.

Just make a 3.5 hr movie or two if needed and do it right.

STRONK WOMYN
NEED NO GLOVES
OR MASK
ONLY SASSY JAPANESE CHOPSTICKS IN HAIR

what the fuck do you honestly think? of course they will

HBO porn version.

this, the plot of Dune isn't even that fucking long. And without internal character monologues the book would be short as hell too

We should see plenty of fremen titty.

This. There should be a spice orgy every episode

The character monologues are what make it good though. The fact every character, including Leto, knows Leto is going to be killed but they all want to stop it makes it such an exciting read in the beginning. The story has such a massive gulf between thought and spoken word, because spoken words are powerful in the setting. It can't work on screen

It's going to be Avatar in the desert with spice taking the space of unobtanium.

>Director is Denis Villeneuve
>possibly making a bad film
Nope
>Arrival
>Sicario
>Enemy
>Prisoners

>it's my favourite book
Really? Your favorite book?

Christ

we know that Denis Villeneuve is directing, but who should they cast?

a few of my choices…

>Fionn Whitehead as Paul
>Amy Adams as Lady Jessica
>Lucy Boynton as Princess Irulan
>Ella Purnell as Chani

There's always a first time, faggot

yes dune is that guy favorite book
that means he liked it most of all he rode
what was your reaction supposed to mean?

there are many who consider Dune as the bible of sci-fi

Oh yes that is definitely the crowd you want to associate with.

It's considered one of the true classics of science fiction literature. What's wrong with having Dune as one of your favorite books? Unless your some Gravity's Rainbow/Infinite Jest /lit/ fag.

i am not he

Watch the director's cut of the such miniseries. Plenty of fremen tits in the orgy scene. Before I had broadband internet I had to get pretty creative with jacking off so I set up digital camera in front of the TV while my parents weren't home and recorded all the sex scenes by videotaping the screen. Then I brought the SD card to school and put it in my laptop because I used it for homework and shit. Well some friends stole it from me and found the porn, they blackmailed me trying to get me to give them money or something saying they'd get me suspended but in the end they gave it back. Went out for drinks with one of them the other night and laughed about it and I admitted i used to jack off to that shit all the time.

I think a movie is the wrong direction to go, but if they are going to do a Dune series movie they should go for the easier entry shit written by the son. The Great Houses trilogy is Game of Thrones tier in terms of political machinations without all of the intricate nuanced or complex shit in the main series written by the dad and would prob be more well received as such. to be honest I would fucking love a main series Dune movie but it would take a literal god tier screen writer or maybe more than 1 god tier screen writer to accomplish and interesting coherent storyline with that keeps people interested even with all the pseudo political and physiological behind the scenes shit that is the mainstay and not the flashy combat or space scenes that are prevalent in the sons writing.

Whats your favorite book user?

It'll be great, but Dunefags will complain it's not like the book and say it's worse than Lynch's Dune.

>worse than Lynch's Dune
I don't see how that's possible.

>I am a man of refined taste my good gentle sir! Begone with your rubbish!

The book wasn't even good. I mean the first part was decent, but after daddy died, it had no solid direction, and the ending was obviously rushed. Should have been half the length.

Trust me when the time comes there will be 40 million youtube videos from fat nerds complaining about the differences between the movie and the novel and they'll say the Lynch version was more accurate or something. Villenueve won't give a shit about "le complex sf worldbuilding."

Were the sons books really that bad? I have seen the circle jerk about them online but I put that in the category of people just being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian for old shit as it happens for most old things?

Dune isn't very good to begin with. I know a lot of you will pretend it's good because you read it when you were 15 but it's a bad series.

>exposed head
STILLSUIT DISCIPLINE YOU WATERFAT BITCH

since there's already been two adaptations of the first book the most interesting thing to me would be to combine Dune and Dune Messiah into one story charting the rise and fall of Paul, but obviously you'd struggle to do that in one movie.

>combining two books into one movie when it's going to be hard enough making one book into just one movie
Did you think that one through?

>idris elba
>implying paul wont be a trans women to make dune be about a strong trans womyn overcoming the evil patriatchy of the emperor

t. Game of thrones fan

>I only read enlightened books like the great gatsby
>*tips fedora*

Nothing in your post is an argument.

It also helps that Dune features intelligent people written by an intelligent writer which makes trying to discern their various motives and plans interesting

Has he even read atlas shrugged?

Tbh hope the fremen are arabs. It's easy diversity points and it makes sense in universe.

it could work if it were like the '60s and you did a 4 and a half hour roadshow version with a 15 minute intermission. roughly three hours for Dune, an hour and a half for Dune Messiah. to me that would be better than distending it to a miniseries or multi-season TV show.

>and it makes sense in universe
Not really. Even in the sub-par prequel books I don't feel like their ethnicity is even discussed. They're just vaguely Muslim or "Zen-Sunni" or whatever.
