Like 10 years ago they looked the same as British chavs. However, now they're the most vain people in society ironically. They go to the gym and eat properly now. They get haircuts that they would've called people faggots for having 10 years ago and they get them regularly . They go to tanning beds and get tattoos. They also put more thought into their clothes than a Fila tracksuit and Airmax. They're usually on the dole or work in shifts such as retail or in food meaning they have more free time than most people so they have more time to think about this stuff

NYC - Italian or Puerto Rican dude wearing jeans and a sweatshirt OR full Adidas tracksuit, often has Timberland boots but usually just sneakers
Miami - White Hispanic guy with gelled hair and joggers, usually a button-down shirt that's too tight
Atlanta - Black guy in full sweatsuit, sometimes with a goofy pattern

LA - Any race imaginable, wearing joggers and Supreme everything

Lower car ownership might influence that as well. If you live in an average part of the city, you don't need a car to access job. Public transportation is excellent here, gas is more expensive, and so are driving licenses.
In the US, a wider urban sprawl, lacking public transportation and a lack of mixing between commerical and housing areas means you necesarily will drive to work. Might as well drive from comfy suburbs instead of cramped, violent cities
