our health system has been in steady decay since the early 2000's, and it became pretty bad after the spending cuts imposed by the troyka (FMI, ECB and germany).
The infrastructure is not bad, but is lacking maintenance. And there is a critical shortage of professionals working. There is a lot of corruption and abuse on the management

Mesmo para uma mera consulta no público já tive médicos reformados a atender-me e um preto que deve ter tirado o curso numa caixa de cereais. Além disso, há falta de médicos e enfermeiros e estes últimos são mal pagos. O SNS está em descalabro.

Pois, mas o ponto de comparação é com o resto do mundo e o resto da Europa e aí Portugal garanto-te que não está abaixo da média, muito mas muito pelo contrário, está acima, tanto em performance, como em diversidade de areas patologicas em tratamento, como em investigação e inclusive em tempos de espera dos pacientes(já com o novo modelo de triagem de manchester) tu é que nunca saíste de casa e não fazes a mínima ideia do mundo em que vives. Aposto que és dos tais que a galinha do vizinho é sempre melhor que a minha, mas nunca mexem uma palha para melhorar o país e o colocar ainda mais proxim do topo.

Ad hominems, que triste. O meu trabalho não é para aqui chamado, mas faço-o numa empresa a contrato com o Estado e muito temos feito ao nosso alcance para melhorar sistemas de administração pública (que não estão relacionados com a saúde). Falas como se eu estivesse a criticar os profissionais da área, mas a minha crítica é a quem gere o sistema.
Mas pronto, se tens conhecimento da área, vou confiar no serviço público da próxima vez que tiver que lhe recorrer. Incrível, neste fórum de desenhos animados coreanos encontro sempre especialistas de tudo e mais alguma coisa. Pesquiso notícias sobre o SNS no google e é falta de enfermeiros, falta de médicos, modelos de gestão deficientes, uma enorme dívida, etc. No entanto aqui para fazer peito à estrangeirada está tudo bem...
