The Arabs/Turks don't want to lose land and the Kurds want independence. Of course this is just a generalized view of the population.
Most of the Turks/Arabs/Iranians respect Saladin as a brilliant military commander and as great historic figure.

We didn't stay very long because it was more of an escale but they were welcoming with us even though it was hard to talk to some in the first place. First ones we talked to were at the Emperor's Mosque, they were old people but didn't really know English, they just told us "tea" and told us to come. My cousin went and I followed.

Bosnia is about 45% Muslim. Sarajevo is majority Muslim. Bosnia doesn't practice Islam to a large extent, people drink alcohol. But you won't have a problem with pig meat in Sarajevo, or in most places in Bosnia.

I would say that I'm a cultural Muslim. I don't drink (outside of social meetings) or eat pork but I don't pray 5 times a day either. I do give money to a local mosque when I come and visit from Sweden.

I think this is the case. The religious differences is just how the Iranians/Saudis get local support in the conflict but not the underlying reason for the fighting in the first place.
