If I had one of these, the feds would be obligated to accept it if I used it for a transaction, even though it was discontinued in the 60s
I think I have some US quarters from the early 50's laying around somewhere.
cute
In the USA it's not uncommon to find a penny/nickle from the 30s or even earlier.
Well, good for you, but Mexico isn't the US.
Not a single bank will accept old coins. They haven't done so since 1995 or so.
People had 2 or so years to exchange all their old currency for the new one.
that is fucking retarded
A denarius from the reign of the Roman emperor Diocletian.
I win.
1946?
I mean it's impressive sure, but you can buy those things for anywhere from 20-200$ from places like amazon/ebay.
Rome shit so many of those out that they are hardly rare, even in the modern day.
Our currency suffered a major overhaul in 1992. We got rid of three 0s and old coins and bills became obsolete and demonetized.
5000 pesos from 1991 would just be 5 pesos in 1992.
Banks don't accept old coins simply because our currency has changed. It has been that way since then and it will remain this way for a long time.
1546
this one
Oh, I gotcha
I think these are the oldest I have at hand; a couple of "Indian Head" pennies. Also have a couple steel pennies made during WW2.

Looked through some of my coins, and found an 1860 penny, along with a 1876 one, and about 5 from 1880's.
pic related looks nearly identical to my 1860 one.
One of these, from 1927.
1871 is the oldest I could find

Don't have old coins, but have pretty old books and machines.
