But in losing guns, we've made ourselves more vulnerable during times of war, at any point during conflict between someone else and our nation, all it could take it is a decent sized, moderately armed force to wipe out thousands of civilians.
The US doesnt have this problem, even should another nation entirely wipe our your armed forces, they'd still reconsider invading the US mainland. A nation of readily armed peoples who take freedom and liberty very seriously, would turn every Fairfax and Farmervile into a Fallujah, this combined with that fact that the US has geography on its side and how quickly urban US police units can quickly resemble military units makes the continental US almost invulnerable to conventional attack and any would-be attacker think twice.
