Night King offs Daenerys in season 8. HBO went ape shit when they found this out and tried to change it. GRRM stepped in and told them to fuck off, it's essential to the story and needs to be done. Dany's birth is the entire reason the White Walkers returned and has to happen. It's the third "holy shit" moment they claim he told them about. Too important to change. To be fair to Benioff and Weiss they never wanted to change it either. It was HBO pressuring a change to keep Dany alive. Jon Snow loses his fucking mind when this happens and winds up a broken, shell of a man, like his grandfather.
