This honestly probably has less to do with the season's theme and more to do with Hotel turning away a huge number of viewers, including mostly straight men and women who aren't completely insane.

Roanoke was weird as hell to me.
The first few episodes were generic terrible trash, then we got 3 episodes that were on par with season 2 and then towards the end it turned to complete shit again.
