Alright lads

Alright lads,

I'm about to tackle Stargate. I know very little about it, so I'm starting from the movie and moving onto SG-1 and I guess there's a few other shows I'll worry about when I get there. What am I in for?

Just a little background, Sup Forums suggested I watch Babylon 5 so I did. Bretty gud. Then I went from Star Trek: Next Generation to Deep Space Nine. Also bretty gud. Is this movie/show going to be bretty gud? You guys haven't let me down yet.

first few seasons are cheesy in that 90s scifi way, but if you were able to get through the first seasons of TNG, DS9 and B5 you should be able to handle it. yeah its a pretty great adventure show with (in my opinion) the most loveable cast in scifi shows

GOOLD?

Good deal. Yeah everyone said the first season of Babylon 5 was going to be rough, but it wasn't as awful as everyone made it out to be. Still -kinda- rough though lol.

This guy is in it? lol, he plays a military officer in charge of secret shit in every show I guess. He was in X-Files and Twin Peaks.

Seasons 9 and 10 are absolutely godawful

oh yes, there is a sharp decline in quality in the later seasons

I'm rewatching it now

Pure class this show, lot of themes that are relevant and interesting now.

Alright, well I'm about to start the movie. I hope everyone is enjoying what they're watching, have fun guys.

If the thread is up I'll let you know what I think of the movie, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

oh the movies kinda shit and not like the show at all

SG-1 is very of it's time, it'll probably go down as the last great show following the "new story every episode" formula which is refreshing to see now that television has evolved more in the direction of linear story arcs.

The production and acting is not great but that makes it even better, there's lots of highlights where you have corny dialogue being overacted by the cast but it seems like they do it for fun.

In terms of quality there is a weak start but when it finds itself you have 6-7 seasons of gold, SG:Atlantis is good too, if you're marathoning SG-1 make sure start watching Atlantis between eps once SG-1 reaches the beginning of that show "I think it was S7"

The Ori was just a shit plot arc. I think they were trying to be edgy like DS9 or B5 did and failed. None off this should concern OP though. Go ahead and watch, it's okay in totality.

Stargate SG1 and Atlantis are fucking god tier sci-fi

Even the early season weirdness that a lot of scifi shows have is adorable, like pic related or the crystal skull episode

>Odo starts the race war by gassing a whole planet.

Don't forget Russian Troi and CIA Q

And the doctor fucking up the programme.

...

>It's a Tealc has hair episode

Not to mention Chricton and Aeryn taking positions in SG1.

And T'pol as Jaffa Warrior Princess.

It's rare I've laughed as hard at a TV show as the first time I saw the Tealc segment of episode 200.

Indeed

The first half of the first season is kind of weak, then it gets really good so stick with it.

Let's not forget O'Brien trying to build nukes.

Also "Commander Charles "Trip" Tucker III" as Michael the Wraith.

>Atlantis
yuck

Quark as a Nox

It has its moments, especially in the first couple of seasons.

I myself am about to start in on Atlantis despite having seen like 3 episodes and dropped it ages back. Not happy about it.

Diana as a Russian

Computer, recreate season two episode four of Stargate SG-1. Disable saftey protocols.

Huh, I forgot about that. Also, I'm kinda surprised that Jeffrey Combs never made an appearance.

why is he such a fucking bro?

Dr Phlox as a comedy scientist

It's decent, but it ends up being too much like SG-1 for its own good (the four-person main team is just a bland rehash of O'Neill/Carter/Jackson/Teal'c

>recognize the girl on the left but cant place her name
>look her up
>it's motherfucking Shivakamini Somakandarkram

holy shit

also ezri is looking like a milf

Dude was willing to go into battle himself to save his men.

star gate is literally the best show out of all the 'tv scifis'

its amazing

its got everything

jaffa
kree
jaffa

eerything

Is SG-1 the only sci-fi show endorsed by the military? I recall the real USAF praising it pretty highly.

she was good, couldnt tell it was her until like 30 mins in

SG-1 is a coverup for a real interplanetary exploration program. That way, if there ever is a leak, the USAF can just claim that the person was talking about the show.

The show had two Joint Chiefs of Staff on the show playing themselves.

>It's a Maybourne and O'Neill buddy comedy episode

Maybourne had the best ending.

I really, really felt they didn't do those enough.

Don't forget COLONEL Caldwell

youtube.com/watch?v=R06PMn8z-Gk

>King of some primitive tribe
>Endless supply of qts to bang
Yeah, he did all right for himself

Alexander Rozhenko (adult) as some Jaffa

>Paul McGillion (Dr. Carson Beckett) auditioned for the role of Scotty in the eleventh Star Trek movie.

>Teal'c was married to the head of Global Dynamics

How the heck did Allison get to Chulak?

>Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) and Vanessa Angel (Anise/Freya) were considered to appear in Star Trek as Shinzon and Seven of Nine, but other actors have chosen instead of them.

The T-1000 Terminator also went with the Atlantis team.

And Jane managed to get command of a SG team.

I'm 99% sure that episode was written just so Christopher Judge could make out with her

I mean, can you blame him?

Based USAF.

>It's a Teal'C gets cucked episode

OP here, movie is over. Not bad, not bad at all. Moving onto SG-1 now. Movie caught my interest, we'll see if the pilot holds it.

Lower your expectations for the first few episodes.

THe cheesy is good. I couldn't STAND universe. IT was grimdark soap opera crap. Stargate is supposed to be a swashbuckling adventure. Not a grimdark soap opera.

Yeah, that's pretty much the standard I've notice when starting some of these older sci-fi shows. Usually the first half of the season seems to be directionless.

I like the early seasons way more than the unecessarily drawn out story arc seasons later on. In first two seasons the standalone episodes are just way more fun and they use the Stargate to actually explore unknown worlds. Once they kill Apophis I couldn't give a shit anymore with even more badder and eviler clones of him.

GABAGOOLD?

its good ignore retards

They did plenty and it all got resolved, good stuff he became king

I don't like the concept of wraiths at all. I'm just low on other content to watch.

Want about the next episode when he makes out with her? why was that one written?

The wraith are zerg basically, I like them though every time its 1v1 with a wraith their in trouble not like sg-1 where any random sg member could be counted on to take down 1/2 a dozen jaffa, every wraith was potentially going to kill you

>Apophis
>clones
you what now? also they didn't even kill apophis the replicators did

About to get on a long flight with no wifi but...

KUM TRAI YAH!!

Because he perfectly fit the ideal of Grandfatherly General that knows how to handle the improbable crew and situations he is given.

EG he fits the fantasy ideal of what any Service Member would want in CO.

move along, best girl coming tru

OP here, they show full nudity in this show? Just saw a pair of tits and full bush.

only at the start, first few eps are a higher rating then the rest, oh feel free to skip ep 3

And miss out on some space titties? lol that took me by surprise.

Only the first ep because Showtime wanted tits

and yeah skip Emancipation at all costs

Hey guys, do i need to watch the movie first like OP is doing?

no ep 3 has no nudity it just kinda sucks, but I take it back watch it Shao Kahn is in it

You should cause the movie is amazing but you don't really NEED to I guess. You really should, it's great.

no

You should

>I'm an Air Force officer just like you are, Colonel. And just because my reproductive organs are on the inside instead of the outside doesn't mean I can't handle whatever you can

What did she mean by this?

>tfw you wanted a character arc for Apophis where he is forced to work with SGC and over the course of a season or two becomes a good guy or at least anti-hero, mayve even joining the Tok'ra

It may have been a retarded wish, but I absolutely loved that actor, he played his character perfectly.

Is it as bad as that TNG episode where the space Zulu kidnapped Lt Yar?

OP here. I just finished the movie, I really enjoyed it. The only thing that is throwing me off is the two main characters return in the show but with different actors. Especially Jack O'Neill, in the movie it was Kurt Russell, this new guy's personality is a bit different so it's throwing me off. Maybe because I'm watching it back to back.

Yes. The show references it a lot.

are you talking about Baal?

I'm totally with you. Space vampires is such a garbage enemy. Literally anything would be better.

...

Just watch it, mongols are mean to women, Sam teaches them to stop being mean with the power of stronk wymen

>new guy
>Richard Dean Anderson
>new guy

After SG-1 you need to go watch MacGuyver.

teal'c looks too manly in this art

No, Apophis.

Remember to skip all of the Genii episodes when you reach Atlantis. Enjoy, user!

Apophis made a good villian, don't think he would've made a good anti-villian, he went out like a punk tho and that sucked I could have used more apophis

The TV sh ow is much much better than the movie.

>tfw they make a MacGyver joke ep 1

>tfw they replaced it in the remastered version

>missing out on Kolya and nuke crazy o'brien
awful advice, just awful

really? thats dumb, the one I watched recently was the uncensored version, its still on that

I know I'll acclimate to the new personality to, of RICHARD DEAN ANDERSON. It's just throwing me off because I just watched the character play a suicidal hardass, and now he's laid back as fuck and cracking cheesy jokes.

the remastered version is a waste of time. the new vfx clashes with the old footage and they deleted tits

I've never ever been a fan of sci-fi... but Stargate?
I fucking love it.
I watch it from start to finish continually.
As soon as I finish Atlantis I go back to the movie then SG1.
SGU was crap, I watched it once and hated it even though it had Robert Carlyle in it.
