Anti-recommendations to painfully slow and boring movies Once Upon a Time in the West and The Searchers.
Rio Bravo was so fucking disappointing.

Please leave this thread immediately. Spagheshit is NOT an acceptable genre. Ford is the highest point of western cinema and maybe cinema in general.
Hats off to You.
hm. the searchers was pretty bad

IT'S HIGH NOON
If you liked Shane you should watch Logan. Trust me on this one.
Logan
Lots of good movies ITT, a few that I never see talked about but are high tier:
The Ox Bow Incident: Really good movie, sort of a bit like a couthouse drama but set in the frontier where a posse are arguing over whether or not to hang three men. It's short too, only like 80 or 75 mins I think
The Furies: Great mix of noir and western. Basically sort of a crime/business drama but with the usual elements of shootouts and cowboys. Looks amazing. Dark noir shadows + wide open plains.
Seven Men From Now: A little like a 50s Kill Bill, with a sheriff hunting down the list of guys who killed his wife. Lee Marvin is great in it. Also really short at like 80 mins.
Winchester '73: Jimmy Stewart tries to track down a prized rifle which keeps passing from person to person, usually with deadly results. Stewart made a lot of great tough-guy westerns but everyone thinks of him as a bit of a goofy everyman. SAD.
>two Logan posts at the same time
NICE
Anyone want to talk about Bone Tomahawk? I keep trying to create threads about it but nobody ever wants to talk about it. Maybe I'll have more success in a general western thread.
It was an alright film.

Finished rewatching this the other day, shame it got canned.

Is it a normie answer? Yes. Do I care? No. Find me a western with a character as entertaining as Eli Wallach's Tuco. He makes that movie and even if you ignore him you have Clint in his prime being fucking cool as always.
Nice Try.
Don't ever reply to me again you triggered weeb.

Get an actual opinion instead of posting dire childish shit on this board.
Okay, here's my opinion.
John Wayne is a straight-up bigot, and a shitty actor who got famous pretending to be a war hero and, for some reason, people thought he looked grizzled. He was a super-patriot that dodged the draft an used the death of real men to launch his film career, and then makes some BS comment about blacks 'needing education' when he only got into college on an athletic scholarship. Go to school? Thanks for the advice, admitted white supremacist.
Since there's a thread about the genre, how do you feel about the "western" tag being applied ever more nonchalantly these days?
Take the Let the Corpses Tan (Laissez Bronzer Les Cadavres) trailer. It's been touted as some kind of neo-western masterpiece since its premiere in Locarno, but I really can't see any western influence from this trailer. Now, I love Cattet&Forzani to bits and Amer/The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears are two of my favourite movies, but this doesn't change the fact their new feature is much more reminiscent of stuff like Danger: Diabolik or hell, even Tokyo Drifter or Branded to Kill than it is of western. Dunno, feels like words mean fuck all.
Why the fuck do you think anyone on Sup Forums would have seen this film?
Western Kino
Eh, why not. I've seen their earlier movies mentioned a few times, figured there might be somebody hyped for this. Besides, I've provided the trailer didn't I?
>John Wayne is a straight-up bigot,
Eh man of his time. You know it has only been 100 years since Birth of a Nation. I think it was pretty progressive that Wayne had Spanish wives.
> people thought he looked grizzled.
NO HE LOOKED GRIZZLED. The man's has the most iconic manly voice. And he had a great screen presence. I don't think Bruce Willis has done anything more than a USO tour but he still looks grizzled too.
> He was a super-patriot that dodged the draft an used the death of real men to launch his film career,
True and John Ford mocked him for doing so. It's ironic that Jimmy Stewart often played a pussy in films when he actually saw combat.
>about blacks 'needing education' when he only got into college on an athletic scholarship.
Again product of his time. George S. Patton was also racist as shit (especially in his diaries) but no one treats him anything less than an amazing General. Yeah Wayne was a hypocrite and a draft dodger, but he still was a good character actor. When you get older you'll understand.

what was the last good italian movie. has there even been one this century?
do they still make westerns nowadays ?
Eh, the (mainstream) Italian cinema industry has been kind of shitty for the past thirty/forty years - now there are a few signs it's getting back to a decent state, but it's kind of early to say.

Ok so one thing you got your reply despite it coming from another website because you're either so lazy that you can't think for yourself. And secondly you got nothing else to say beyond the words coming from someone's stepmom.
And women aren't the audience who keeps watching The Searchers and Rio Bravo, men specifically older men like the westerns.
Honestly I'm not the biggest John Wayne fan, but The Searchers is a goddamn classic.
