I don't think about it. When I first saw the commericial for it, my only thought was "It looks awful".

I don't get how it even got greenlit

Was not what i thought it would be.

First episode is slow, be i can see thibgs I like, and I am hopeful that it may be a good show, but knowing fox it will be canceled after 1 season.

Star trek.... with Seth McFarland.

Its nerd and fart jokes, we will make millions boss!

Pretty damn good. Discovery shills are paid to bash it, but I liked it.

Discovery doesn't have me intrigued. But Orville, i liked it. And i hope it does well.

Every single joke fell flat. The banter was tiresome. The captain/first officer relationship is trash.

Other than that, it's fine.

Dog shit

8 is too many
they should kick out 2.

I really enjoyed it.

SO you pre-judge shit about even watching it? Kill yourself, nigger.

I don't think there was a single fart joke. There was a banana joke.

The jokes fell flat? Were you under the impression that there was a studio audience and no one laughed?

Not a good Star Trek parody. Not a good Star Trek rip off. Not funny. Not dramatic. Not sure who the audience is for this piece of crap.

It's a more faithful Star trek series than Discovery. Which is sad.

And the character traits are really neat.

You have the helmsman who is legendarily brilliant, but can't get any posts because he's reckless, the Captain who was considered a rising star with potential for grandeur, who sank to the bottom after a bad divorce

and the rest are sort of Star trek stereotypes with side quirks. And the other characters are enjoyable in their own right, with their own quirks.

and the idea of that captain, getting his ex wife as his first officer, is brilliant potential.

the plot was way more star trek than it had any right to be, but with some more levity.

It was like Star trek without the soapy melodrama, and with a more lighthearted edge.

Did anybody laugh in real life? For the sake of humanity, I hope not.

>Every single joke fell flat. The banter was tiresome. The captain/first officer relationship is trash.

>Other than that, it's fine.

what did he mean by this?

Music, fine. Aesthetics, fine. Storytelling, fine. It's all fine when they aren't trying to be funny.

You sound like an arrogant prick. Do you have any friends?

i laughed in pretend life

This and really it's just seth macfarlane's jokes personally that fell flat. The helmsman and navigator bantz were great. The big guy alien was also pretty good deadpan funny.

Norm MacDonald?

Never once.

Laughed at the holodeck ogre being a bro
Laughed when the black guy wanted to bring soda on deck
Laughed when the alien emitted fluid from its face
The robot was pretty amusing
Probably forgetting a few scenes, but this thing was full of honest laughs

Are you implying that there's something wrong with having no friends? This is a bully-free zone, you bully.

It was pretty comfy and I enjoyed it.
Certainly better than STD so far.

The pilot was meh, but I'll watch a few more episodes and give this show a chance.

How many episodes into STD are you?

It's a mediocre comedy and a poor Star Trek knock-off. It's probably the best looking fan project I've ever seen, aside from Axanar though.

Compare it to other Star Trek pilots and it really gives us no reason to continue to tune in, other than to see if the captain and first officer reconcile. They don't set up any kind of grand adventure or mystery, or real premise outside of "it's just like Star Trek". There was no morality or deeper themes at play, just a run and gun adventure that younger audiences would probably enjoy. It didn't have the wonder of TNG's first episode, the world building of DS9 or the action and stakes of VOY.

Also, the black navigator is a horrible actor. You need someone much, much funnier in that role, who can emote more.

Quite a few, but I've got my prescription now.

Not bad.
Let's see where it goes.

>What are your thoughts

I think it's a good example if the bland crap people will digest just to avoid boredom.

And no, I don't think STD will be a good show either.

Star Trek needs to be laid to rest.

>had no fucking idea this or STD was out

What the fuck? Was there any marketing for them? What's the consensus on STD?

STD is out in less than 2 weeks.

It's not great, but it's something you can learn to live with

Want to watch it and want to like it but I really fucking hate Seth Macfarlane

STD doesn't come out till the 24th.

Based on the first episode.

>you still haven't watched LoGH
>the reboot will be announced on September 20th
Hurry up.

I like the image, but Voyager should be far lower.

Well, the rotten tomatoes audience seems to love it despite idiot 'critics' so..

Also seth mcfarlane has a very nice face and anyone who feels aggression towards him is an unstable mess.

I think the show has a lot of heart, it really resonates with me as a trek fan.

You could put them all in fucking GAY lmao

I plan to, but it's super long and undubbed.

Fuck it, let's talk about Other Space now.

but the first episode of tng was garbage

>remeber that SNL skit you wrote? Let's make that into a tv show

I'm confused. is this a comedy? or is this a sci-fi with an actual plot?

It's both. Where does the confusion come in?

It's a stupid DS9 retard who legitimately can't understand anything that isn't a lowest common denominator soap opera

was alright. Wasn't particularly funny or anything but it was engaging enough. Felt like a more lighthearted trek

The commercials make it seem like a complete parody that you can't take seriously but Sup Forums tells me otherwise.

The comedy angle isn't working because the jokes are lousy, and as a 'space adventure' it's not faring much better.

Galaxy Quest showed how it should be done, comfy, loving, let's-poke-fun-at-Star-Trek with a bunch of likable characters.

Here's a fucking mind blowing idea for you -- might want to sit down -- Watch it and form your own opinion.

Also
holy shit I forgot all about that show.

Watch the first 7 episodes (the first storyarc) at least.

You can worry later about whether or not to watch the rest.

McFarlane should have swallowed his ego, accepted he'll never get to make a proper Trek show and gone full comedy.

A full comedy sci-fi show taking the piss out of chronically self-important Star Trek would have at least rocked the boat for a season. And it really wouldn't have alienated fans, most trek nerds have a really good sense of humor about it.

This is just going to get buried after the rest of the fall debuts.

Your Galaxy Quest description also works perfectly if you replace "Galaxy Quest" with "The Orville."

It's a great show, nails the aesthetic and feel of classic Trek perfectly. The jokes are weak but also pretty light anyway, it's clearly more of a homage than a parody.

It's nice to see proper Star Trek back on TV, STD can go fuck itself.

Why are you so rude?

Nah, I don't want to waste my time watching a parody especially since Seth is in it.

No, no, I meant based on the first episode of the Orville, here's where it places relative to other series in their entirety.

How is that not exactly what this show is?
And I don't want to hear about trekkies being good-natured about taking a ribbing. I saw a thread earlier full of assmad trek fans crying in their blue milk about how McFarlane was "mocking the fans and poking fun at the things we love about Star Trek."

Because I don't like DS9 retards and have no motivation to exercise manners towards them

Then shut the fuck up.

This meme that STD is already on and everyone has seen it already is fucking annoying and dumb.

Oh neat, thank you.

>lefty puff sperging out because ds9 actually treated topics in an balanced adult manner instead of just virtue signalling

Such a dumb design for a ship, though, seriously

kek you're mad

Get over it.

The media shilling, arrogant crew and cast pissing off fans, using 'muh sexism' to sell the show, the goddamn awful trailers so far, STD is going to be the next Ghostbusters and you know it.

go back to spamming Ezri

Because the jokes are weak and low hanging fruit McFarlane is pulling his punches and it shows because he still wants to make it a serious sci-fi show.

It's like they took the plot of a Star Trek fanfic and wrote some Dad jokes into it. He's riding the gas and the brakes at the same time. He just needs to put the hammer down on the comedy.

Also most trekkers do have a good sense of humor about it. Sup Forums, and especially Sup Forums, are not an accurate cross section of the rest of the world.

Ezri a cute A CUTE.

better than I expected
needs to cut back on sethjokes to be very good

Top 10 worst jokes? Please list them immediately. As in RIGHT NOW.

Who's wrong, Sup Forums?

>yfw Paul Feig did it better

ExoSquad in low tier? fokU m8

Jokes weren't really funny but other than that it kinda felt like a so-so Star Trek episode.

RT is wrong in general. You can't really trust the critic reviews because the broken ruberic and you can't really trust the viewer reviews because of fanboys, sock puppets and shills.

What I want to see is the actual ratings after a few episodes.

>Your Galaxy Quest description also works perfectly if you replace "Galaxy Quest" with "The Orville."

Only if you remove 'comfy' and 'likable characters', and add really low brow humor.

The bitching between Seth and his ex-wife was tired after 20 seconds, yet I fear this shit will go on through the entire season, or how many episodes it gets before it's cancelled.

I posted this already read the fucking thread faggot.

The first 3 episodes were already released to the critics.

I watched it, didn't like it.

There was a scene where the ship is pulling out from the docking station, and I was expecting something to happen, anything. Like in Galaxy quest they pull out and scrape the side of the ship, but nothing nada just one long wank scene of OH LOOK HOW COOL THE SHIP DESIGN IS. Mcfarlane always got to basically jerk himself off on tv but this time people actually have to look at his smug fuckface instead of animation.

That looks worse than the Orville cast, looks like 'refugees in space'

Who fucking cares about reviews or RT at all? Seriously I've lived my entire life not paying any attention to film or tv show reviews/critics and I have not missed a thing. If anything, I'm more open minded than most film "fans" because of this.

Yeah, but I want to see ratings after they air. I don't think this show is going to do well, but I don't trust aggregator sites. I want to see the data.

So don't watch it then. Why live in fear of a tv show doing something you don't like? Are you required to watch The Orville as a condition of your parole or something?

Didn't like some of the jokes. Thought having the cheating ex-wife become 1st officer was stupid, but can let it pass since it's a comedy.

I liked that they don't use teleporter technology and thought it was cool that so many different aliens were shown.

Give it a 7/10 has potential but can see it going downhill hard like The Last Man on Earth did.

low-effort, bro. do better.

>getting pissed at people sharing their thoughts about a show in a thread specifically asking people to share their thoughts on a show

Getting cranky, is it past your bedtime?

Space Above and Beyond should be high or high-mid. It was outstanding for its time.

Imagine being this mad about a starship leaving the space station dock on a tv show, lads.

>LEXX in terrible tier
*shoots wrist-claw at you*
CAWWWW
YO WAY YO

>lexx and space a&b that low

fuck you

Nah, I'll be up for at least another hour or so. Monday Night Raw is on! And I'm not mad I'm trying to help you. If the content of upcoming episodes of The Orville worries you, I simply suggest you don't watch it so you won't have this sense of impending dread every week. That's a free tip. You can tell your psychologist you're all sorted for the week.

My rage knows no bounds

It's a pretty bland show, not terrible but nothing to crow about.

Watching Sup Forums do backflips to defend it is more entertaining than the pilot was.

Well I'm not the guy you were flipping your shit on. But the pilot didn't really wow me so I'm not going to keep watching it.

I'm willing to be a lot of people aren't going to keep watching it.

>Who fucking cares about reviews or RT at all?
Because when people like something they want validation for it. You give the average person too much credit, with the internet and 24hr news people just want echo chambers of thier own opinions.

>asking people to read chinese later
why can't they just speak english?

just watched it
why the fuck did they decide to make his ex-wife the first officer? it really just ruins the whole show
