How the F*CK do i become a director lads?

How the F*CK do i become a director lads?

Im 25, i dont have much time left, i need my first Oscar before im 40

This is now a Baneposting thread.

thats a big post

Just shoot something and shoehorn edgy words and violence in the flick, hacks like Tarantino are highly regarded without them having any experience too

do you have a camera phone?
a computer to edit stuff?
an idea in your head?

then you can shoot a film. There no excuse. Even a short film is better than no film.

I feel your pain, but NEVER expect to get an Oscar. Just make films you like, films you're excited about. If they take off, fucking awesome, try and parley that into a career.

Do it because you love films.

>wanting an oscar

you already have the wrong idea, please stay out of the industry

Direct your own shitty "found footage" movie with your Iphone.

become a jewish pedophile

>respecting cuckscars

lmao

shoot some short shit and upload it on youtube
if you get some views, you can easily start shooting ads and music videos
with some luck, you can move to movies from there

but even then, you'd be fine just shooting music videos for life, youll make way more money even if you are a huge hack

Don't do this, it's harder than it looks. You still need a camera rig, tripod, Steadicam, and shotgun microphone(s)

Make a film set during the holocaust, with cartoonishly evil nazis and brave jewish victims.
You'll be set for life.

You should go to films instead of film school...

...

Write a short film you can shoot for no money on your own
Storyboard it
Film it
Edit it
Post it online
Share it
Keep trying

get a job on set. theres tons of work to be done behind the scenes in things like editing, sound, camera work ect. This gets your foot in the door and gives you steady employment, whole also teaching you things. You dont need film school, but a back round education in something like that would be helpful. In between working (you'll be pulling long days, kiss most of your life goodbye) try to make short films or even get yourself attached to others. This will take time, but if you prove you can be trusted and have a good work ethic people will want to keep you around
>I need my first oscar before im 40
kek, grow the fuck up. Some people dont get them until theyre 50 and you sure as hell arent getting on anytime soon so calm down

everyone wants to succeed too fast in hollywood, thinking theyre going to direct a major film of their choice or star in an oscar worthy franchise before theyre 25 and it doesnt happen for 99.9% of them. Its actually fairly easy to work in hollywood you just have to be realistic and patient

im not even american tho

this, and have friends that have similar interests

shooting a movie has really never been easier. Fuck you could even buy a drone for a few hundred bucks and do aerial shots. It does sound a bit too much like you want to a be director rather than wanting to direct, if you follow me

>making shit to get recognition

walk onto the set of a porno and offer to hold the camera still. maybe you'll get lucky and be featured in the credits for an AVN award-winning film.

this
if you have some good ideas you can become huge with today's technologies qutie easy

hell, look at all those youtube """vloggers""" that are watched by 5-6 million peopls DAILY and their content is utter shit

Are you Jewish? Do you know anybody in the business? No?
Enjoy making micro budget homefilms in your basement and backyard.

Read the wiki pages for Zach Snyder and Chris Nolan. They both slept with well connected women to get to the top. Nolan made an obscure student film that went nowhere, but managed to fuck an assistant for a Hollywood producer. That's how he got funding for Memento

Direct something

Join various private trackers related to e-learning for materials, especially theshow, and download everything of quality and relevant to all disciplines related production you can cover yourself. Go on edx or other free or open courseware on anything related to story, if you need to, or join a gym to learn some mma to get hands on if you want to be able to choreograph action.
Be prepared to make a bunch of short films and small budgets, and also worth learning is how to abuse viral marketing and crowdfunding if that's how you want to get your funds.

>Im 25, i dont have much time left,

didnt Malick direct his first movie at 40 or something?

directing is not acting, if you are actually good, your age doesnt matter

You will never work in films
The most you can possibly do in your lifetime is make a short youtube film for free. But you don't have the friends, connections, or free cash to do that. Even a short film can cost a couple hundred thousand dollars in equipment, costumes, and props. If you start now, you can develop the knowledge and skills to do everything yourself by the time you're 50. Otherwise you'll need to hire other amateur dreamers with knowledge of these things. If you're really good at 3d modelling you can be one of the hundreds helping with the cgi.

1. HAVE A SHIT TON OF MONEY
2. GET A HD CAMERA AND SOME GOOD SOUND ENGINEERS
3. GET SOME HOT SHIKSAS FOR DIRT CHEAP
4. FILM A BUNCH OF ARTSY SEX AND NATURE SCENES
5. EDIT
6. SEND TO FILM COMPANY OR SOMEONE IN FILM
7. PROFIT

>fogposter
didnt read lmao

based on the tips in this thread I decided to start my own movie production company
I'll call it Alperstein & Engelberg , the starting project is a coming of age story about a boy approaching his Bar Mitzvah but he has difficulties learning Yiddish chants because all he do is smoke pot with his buddies, also his dad is an academic figure going through a difficult divorce

So, you are literally going to reshoot A Serious Man...?

it's a work in progress, we can tweak the story a little after we've raked some dosh from the investors, that I'm sure will be interested in such an amazing project

Unless you're a Jew or have connections its too late for you my man

You could probably still be an actor though

you literally described the kid and the dad from A Serious Man senpai

it's a homage kind of thing

unless your surname is Cohen, this wond work, filthy goyim
