I mean, that's not hard with most animation. There's only so much detail you can put into a frame when you have to animate 12 to 24 frames per second and are bound to real world realities like time and money.

Fanart is going to be better because a lot of time spent on a single picture will be more detailed than designs used in animations and comics which have to be drawn again and again while being reliably on-model. A season of a cartoon at the OP pic's level of detail would take too long to create.
