Whenever you're ready to begin Original Poster, please.

...

So it impressed you?

Nolan, Fincher etc etc
Most would include Tarantino but I feel that his films are actually slightly more impressive if you have a greater knowledge of film, it's just that his oeuvre is generally overrated

>Jennifer Jason Leigh
I don't remember her in the movie, who did she play?

>Nolan
this, he is Movies That Only Impress People With Extremely Limited Knowledge of Cinema: The Director

From my experience it's either extremely limited knowledge or irredeemably pretentious fuckwits, pretty much no in-between.

PTA, tarantino, Fincher, etc.. all film 101-core directors

>film 101-core directors
80% of Film: 101 Directors are actual masters though.
I'll mostly give you Fincher save for Zodiac is the only film i'd call great of his.

>80% of Film: 101 Directors are actual masters though.
yes what does this have to do with the thread though? directors who make films that impress people with limited knowledge of cinema aren't bad directors

>Every slightly accessible, non foreign film, is for the pleb masses. >It is only i,OP, and my giant intellect who posses the ultimate kinomatic understanding
>My favorite films are drenched in incomprehensible sub texts,:vague references and cheap metaphores
>Come join me, but only if you can keep up with my cinematic genius

Is this for real?

Mate, this is a board that considers bvs to be a deep masterpiece and one of the greatest films of the century. No on here knows shit about film

He's baiting when he says they're for plebs, but otherwise it's a very solid list.

i dont really get this movie and i have a decent knowledge of film. it just seems extremely pretentious, even more so than any other art films ive seen

I don't even consider capeshitters as valid posters, or human for that matter. Also, there are still patricians among us,user

how new are you?

I won't go on elitist ramble on "limited knowledge of cinema" but more like if they can understand whether these films feel like "films"
The only bad thing about it is that it doesn't have anything remarkably cinematic in it. Other than that, it's fairly impressive and wouldn't really work in other forms.
Could say that. I feel like his films have just very adequate of everything, cinematography, acting, editing. Technically, they don't feel like masterpieces...

Also, PTA getting mentioned a lot. I think I will agree with that

I mean, no one calls it that, but that is the official title.

This movie had some amazing acting, not sure what you're getting at.

What a smart film, everything is so deliberate, you really dive into the psyche of this fictional character noone gives a shit about, I really loved the scene where fucking nothing of importance happens...really deep

>[Sih-NECK-doh-kee]

Putting the memes aside, this movie is just very dishonest.

I've never heard of it being called that before, is that really the official title?

why? i'd genuinely like to hear your opinion

It's one of the best films of the 2000s, and I like Haneke, Puiu, Farhadi, Dardennes bros, and Joe.

I loved adaptation/being john malkaovotch, but this movie sucks dick.

>oeuvre
disgusting

...

that's how you spell it though user. do you really want me to use three words and say 'body of work' when i can express that with one?

It's a good argument that pretentious sounding terms can save time but they also make you sound like a douchebag, so it's up to you really

I think the whole end scene and Kaufman's view on living and eventually dying is a lot more about being provocative towards the general audience than spelling out the truth. Growing old doesn't have to be about losing everything and eventually dying a lonely, silent death. I guess in the movie's context it makes sense because Caden was a selfish asshole, but in general i think it's just Kaufman wanting to be very direct and outspoken regarding this subject, so much so that i think he tips over.

...

it's a binary representation of the ascii characters that would spell the title. It's like L'Ascension Du Chevalier Noir, which is the title of the film, but written in some sort of dead language that nobody speaks to confuse people.

Huh ok, thanks

this was some miserable shit, and boring

> Wife gives 11 year old tattoos
> Dies from tattoos in 40s
YOU GOTTA APPRECIATE THE KINO

what was the point of that anyway? is he saying caden is out of touch with modernity which is why he's so sad and lonely or is he saying that modernity is too degenerate?

Was the stuff with is daughter real though? Seemed to me he was compulsively imagining the absolute worst that could happen to her, but that he never really met her again.
I don't remember everything clearly and overall made me feel like shit. Daring and good film though

Dogfucker BTFO

The name he gave you in French is the dark night rises you retard.

No shit, faggot, I was playing along

Sure thing

>impressive
Nolan is built around this shtick
Smart action blockbusters my fucking ass, the action is shit and anyone who can stay off their phone should be able to follow everything of his that I've seen, which is everything except Interstellar and Dunkirk

I'm fluent in french you colossal mongoloid

>Lost River (2014, Gosling)

Zodiac is, indeed, Fincher's only "great" film

se7en was better
