Sup Forums

Paprika (obviously)
David Fincher's The Game
Black Swan (shit)

Pretty much any Satoshi Kon movie.

Ghost in the Shell, Akira are obvious ones. Anything by Studio Ghibli, Satoshi Kon stuff (he made Perfect Blue). Jin Roh and Tokyo Godfathers are two specific recs.

Don't listen to this guy OP, Sup Forums has shit taste.
Personally I like some of Miyazaki's work. Princess Mononoke and Spirited away

>asking Sup Forums for anime FILM recommendations

those belong here, you must be new

Akira

This. His tv show was also pretty great.

remember Miyazaki > Kon and if you think otherwise you have shit taste

watch Paranoia Agent

it's better than Paprika

Paranoia Agent.

Welcome to the NHK

uh.. FLCL.

NGE, the original series (the dub is passable), the film "End of Evangelion"

bunch of other shit that I've not yet bothered to watch..

Windaria. You can find it on youtube.

Mind Game
this is THE artiest, kino-est anime movie you can ever see, it legit changed my life, its that powerful/ good

anything by Miyazaki

Paprika

Jin Roh

Your name

Yeah, probably.

Grave of the Fireflies

Thirded.
One of the few directors that used the medium to do what you couldn't do in traditional film. He elevates his work so far above the pack that its almost a shame it gets lumped in with anime at all.

Not really, unless you actually think, "Love is the one thing that we're capable of perceiving, that transcends dimensions of time and space," because that's this movie with gender switching.

Come on guys

I'm not sure if this would've been better if I didn't spend 18 months coming across spoilers of it.

>he has never seen a war movie in his life

also you have to conveniently forget the japanese really brought it upon themselves, even though children are innocent.

Saw it yesterday. This movie is so fucking awesome holy shit fuck. It is a must watch

...

Watched half of it. What's the big deal? Am I missing something or is that just your average anime story with improved animation?

Yep. It's a total fucking enigma why this destroyed Spirited Away to become Japan's highest grossing film. Even the creator doesn't get it.

I HIGHLY recommend Memories ( 1995 )
youtube.com/watch?v=E4jYrFYcYko

there are none

perfect blue is anime perfected

Sup Forums is afraid to admit it but The End of Evangelion is a masterpiece even if some of the dialogues are corny.

I was literally just about to watch this

dub or sub?

I dunno sorry :3

Subs, of course. Like any foreign film.

As long as subs aren't a problem for you that is almost always the way to go.
Its the rare exception that has a really good dub worth listening to.

Belladonna of Sadness is the best anime movie

Yup, this is pure eye sex

pleb

akira is the definition of overrated

Mamoru Hosoda's movies are pretty good.

Which half? If you mean the first then I understand, but there’s a HUGE tonal shift in the second half of the movie that completely shifts the narrative.

While I really like it, I agree that cramming 1000 pages of a manga into a single 2-hour movie was a pretty stupid move. The secondary characters and the side plots especially feel incredibly rushed.

Sorry I’ve never watched anime before, where can I watch Paranoia Agent? I found a torrent on TPB but it’s terrible quality (~360p or something close)

Is animatrix a movie?

search for the original title
download in jap and download subs seperatly if your too lay to seach for torrent with subs

I got a bluray rip of the whole show a few years back from either TPB or KAT

try searching for it under it's japanese name Mousou Dairinin

I think it’s on BakaBT, but they went private so unless you had an account you’re SOL

>it's a series leaves you empty and depressed ending episodes
Inb4 image.jpg, I'm not an icuck

>those belong here, you must be new
cool story redditman, but please return to your shitty containment board.

Tokyo godfathers

Ninja Scroll

Literally the best action anime.

das rite donny

nyaa.si/view/344684

I don't know shit about Lupin the Third, but ended up watching the recent movie about Goemon was ultimate action schlock. The subs were absolute dogshit and it was probably translated by a vietnamese 13 year old, but the story doesn't mean shit. You're there to watch a samurai fight a seven foot tall lumberjack with steel teeth.

boku no pico

Damn thanks. Let's see how long it takes to download.

Roujin Z

If this thread isn't deleted or moved to /wsr/ then Sup Forums threads are related too, zerosugar

I will give you 10 minutes to comply

I never got the point of this anime

Can I have some films where everyone and their mother hasn't watched?

The only anime I enjoyed was Samurai Champloo. It feels more occidental way of filming.

Magnetic Rose is the purest kino
>written by Satoshi Kon
>directed by Koji Morimoto
>music by Yoko Kano

What's the point of any show or movie? To tell a story

They bully entry level drones like OP though

>not posting this image with the pasta

>the dub is passable
I don't see how anyone can actually think this, especially when the alternative is just leagues better.

Is it a case of growing up with it?

The Castle of Cagliostro

Dragon Ball, Attack on Titan, and Death Note threads are all over Sup Forums
Just expect to be called a spic if you say anything positive about Gohan

Just watched Angel's Egg last night, nice shots but can feel like they drag on a bit, good OST as well

In This Corner Of The World is pure comfykino.

Do you know what board you're posting on? Or wait are you posting outside of your game of thrones quarantine for the first time

>Tekkonkinkret
How where you able to enjoy this? I really tried to like it but after having thought about it I came to the conclusion I found the movie boring and stupid.

OP here, I'm inclined to believe.
I've been binge watching animes (trying to watch more), and it's been my favourite out of the bunch.
Evangelion was a fun ride, though. Probably equal, but I prefer films, I like the more condensed experienced compared to TV.
Redline was amazing, too. But just really to look at...

And it's going to get even worse, a new season of umaru is about to start

>yfw niggas have never seen Patlabor

Try by watching actual art first and not videogameized hogwash

Only You
Beautiful Dreamer
Phoenix 2272

ahh yes. more obnoxious memes

I haven't watched Perfect Blue yet but watch most of his other movies and like Millenium actress the most.

Have you gotten to Berserk yet? If you havent I suggest completly skipping the recent series since it's total garbage
The 97 and Golden Age movies are alright but they both leave things out for the time period they cover so of you really want in to it you'll have to follow the manga

I also watched it last night wtf

I didn't like that much though, I just prefer lighthearted movies man

>going to Sup Forums

Angel's Egg is my favorite movie of all time. It is animation perfected and it is just absolutely stunning visually and storywise.

>have rules
>don't enforce them
hmm

Patlabor is great

Got a webm of the city scene? Seriously goddamn gorgeous.

It's allright.

Not really good or anything.

Yeah it was good shit, some guy posted it in a aesthetically looking movies thread and I thought I'd check it out. Glad I did.

>when the BGM kicks in
Gives me shivers every time.
youtube.com/watch?v=FEK6l02Rl5U

These kinds of terrific establishing shots are why I watch Oshii films.

Watching the first Patlabors before GitS should also put a dent in how people see GitS as a masterpiece. It's nothing Oshii hadn't already done a dozen times before.

P1 and P2 share nothing in common with GiTS aside from featuring mechs and city scenery porn.

SEVEN

In terms of movie ranking for Oshii, GitS is far below them both. It's not his best work, maybe his 5th or 6th.
