Since most folks keep ranting about how much of a meme Aikido is. What martial arts are actually effective in close quarters combat? Or do all forms of martial art need to be choreographed in movies in order to conceal their absolute uselessness in real combat situations?

Boxing and judo, maybe. Everything else is worthless.
Or just buy a gun.
It doesn't depend of the martial art. It depends of the quality of the fighter
Capoeira is the only useful fighting martial arts plus you can dance now
Actual jujutsu, not some shitty version some guy has made to form their own dojo.
Boxing will give you a lot as well.
Watch bas ruttens videos, hilarious and have viable technique.
Picking up an object and smashing the person in the head with it. Or a gun.
Choreographied western boxing is severely underrated. Tyson in Ipman 3 is fucking great.
Judo is king in 1v1
>Tyson in Ipman 3 is fucking great.
Don't be tricking me, user
Wushu, everything else is bullshit
Ultimate meme, totally useless
They need to be choreographed in movies to
a) look pretty
b) be harmless to people that are just making a movie
Mongolian wrestling is the only worthwhile martial art
Starfleet Standard Close-Quarters Technique Manual
100% effective, 100% of the time.
Boxing is all you need. All that namby pamby flying and shit is never as satisfying as seeing a punch connect perfectly.
aye
wrasslin is the best
Serious post.
For stand up: boxing, mui tai/kickboxing
For grappling: judo, Brazilian Jiu jitsu, wrestling
You need both to be a complete fighter . If just have stand up you can get taken down and get destroyed. If you just have grappling you will get knocked out or kicked into Oblivion
Anything involving heavy grappling is king in close quarters combat.
Not really Ken can fuck up Zangief any day.
