4K HDR

>4K HDR content can be torrented and viewed anywhere
feels good

>studios release 8K content
>cycle begins again

Meanwhile I'm happy with 1080p and don't need no 4k, 8k, 16k, or whatever meme you want.

>hdr10
Yeah, wake me up when you can do that with Dolby Vision. Hdr10 looks like shit with over saturated faces.

>HDR
>x265
Does that codec even support HDR?

>UHD capture
>4K
lol

>i'm fine being poor: the post

>implying 4K or HDR make any difference on your shitty monitor

Come back when you have a properly calibrated NEC MultiSync IPS or Eizo AHVA monitor.

I have a well calibrated LG OLED, come at me.

>viewed anywhere
If your video chain is faulty anywhere you're going to lose the benefits of 4k. Not every device has the power necessary for playback either.

The color grading on the final cut is a crime.

>B7
>shitty monitor
fuck off
sure bud

Why? It's exactly how the director envisioned it.

Enhance, no wait. Pull back

8k is pretty well a meme resolution. You need a giant screen to tell any difference. Even in a cinema the difference between 4k and 8k is extremely subtle.

On a 50" screen you can tell the difference between 1080p and UHD (4k) pretty easily, but it is still only a small difference.

What really makes the difference in image quality is contrast. And of course the bit rate of the video compared to how much information is attempting to be conveyed. If the video is bit starved the level of detail will be poor no matter what your resolution is set to.

Other things people never mention such as the lens that were on the cameras that originally shot the footage also matter greatly. Many cheap cameras can technically record in UHD and give you a 3840x2160 video file but their lens are simply not sharp enough to resolve UHD detail to a degree that makes it look different from HD. And there is also camera shake. Just the tiniest shake destroys fine detail.

Shooting 4k is a challenge, and a lot of the current practices in video production end up defeating the goal of higher quality to begin with. Any kind of hand-held camera work such as has become popular with mockumentary style sitcoms like the Office, Parks and Rec, Modern Family, etc will not be able to convey the full quality of UHD part of the time because of this.

IF we really are going into a UHD meme era shows are going to have to go back to static camera placements and steady-cams.

*steadicam

damnit

Or just film in higher resolution and downscale, like it's done already. You can get cameras with 5 or 6 k, they can preserve detail even in movement at 4k.

With 8K, when your waifu does a nude scene, you can zoom in so much, you can see all the details of her labial folds.

You can't do that with 1080p or 4K.

You actually cannot for the reasons I just listed. 8k lenses are going to be hard to come by. And it will be difficult to capture 8k quality unless they shoot with a strong tripod and no camera movement. Porn studios won't be using them.

Well, let me make a small addendum to that:

You can technically come by 8k lenses by using the lens from a DSLR or mirrorless camera which is designed to resolve very high resolutions over 20 megapixels that will work. You might see some porn companies try that as a gimmick.

Maybe not 5 years ago, these days we have a lot better deblurring algorithms using optimization with priors. You can shoot very sharp motion video even with a cheap lens.

it's fake tho

It isn't. The information is still in the signal, just spatially integrated. That can be reversed, and that's what the priors are for.

doesn't look as good as my bees

Not really. You're making an educated guess based on the information from adjacent frames and what is blurred in the one you're trying to fix.

And sometimes things are only present for one frame.

every single bee there knows exactly what every other bee is doing
isn't our lord and Savior
Jesus Christ amazing!!!!

>Porn studios won't be using them.
Porn was one of my first to use 4K cameras.

8k and 4k are different.

I have a pretty good 4K TV that enhanced motion looks like crap, always makes the film look slightly speeded up

That's one of way of doing it but not the only one. Some prior only look intraframe.

This is completely different from the motion smoothing in TVs, which is lagging 10 years behind. You can do real magic with sufficient processing power.

I'm waiting for the disk to be pre'd. I want that fucking remux cuz
