Robert Crumb appreciation thread

OK, but could you post different Crumb comics this time? I've seen too many repeated stories in the last RC threads.

Never been a fan of Crumb's 60's stuff. I really hate 60's and 70's pop culture aesthetics overall. 80's Crumb is best Crumb. The Weirdo years. Cave Wimp is probably his best work ever imo.

>I really hate 60's and 70's pop culture aesthetics overall
I'm surprised you don't like it then, Crumb's view of the hippies is really negative. Or at least more realistic than the romanticized flower child image they sell to white college girls today

Legit question: Is he autistic?
I saw the movie and he goes on tangents about how he literally cannot feel emotions. Never loved anyone, just lusted.

If anyone had a disorder it was his brother, I think Crumb is just the way he is because of his upbringing and the years of hard drugs on his brains

Got nothing against the content. Just the art style he used back then. He changed his style quite dramatically in the 70's. Just compare his Whiteman Meets Bigfoot story from the 70's to his earlier Fritz stuff. Huge difference.

Oh yeah his art work in Weirdo during the 80's is his best. I think Crumb himself said it was because he stopped taking drugs so his focus improved dramatically

Hard to say. My impression of autists is that they have a hard time understandign art and abstract thinking while Crumb obviously appreciates and understands such things. It's more like he has Tourette's, but it's coming out in hsi comics, like he has no filter on his way of expressing himself.

Both of his brothers are/was fucked up.

He did say in that movie that he loves his daughter.

>his art work in Weirdo during the 80's is his best

HUP was pretty good too.

>tfw I donated this to my local library
>tfw they put it in with cape stuff in the kids' comics section

Hooboy, there are going to be a few angry parents storming that library soon

That's gorgeous

Now THIS is drawing. Detailed and by hand.

>by hand.
How else would you draw?

...

Those hacks at the Big Two use computers nowadays.

...

That's okay, I sold my Complete Crumb volumes to a used bookstore and one of them has Joe Blow the comic about incest. In Canada I'm pretty sure it would count as child porn

...

>I sold my Complete Crumb volumes
You're a moron and no longer my nigga.

...

Yeah, digital art is ruining comics. But no adult oriented comics is digitally drawn though, so that's good.

...

...

...

aaand the end !

>OP keeps posting the same images over and over
>when he could be posting the Complete Crumb Comics books
I leave in disappointment.

Well this time i posted an entire story, at least :)

Love his work. TY OP

Doesn't seem autistic at all. I'd say he's got a fucked up view of relationships due to growing up sexually repressed and then going straight into a load of no strings attached hippie sex and drugs.

He certainly has issues. If he wasn't the talented writer/artist that he is, he would be on sweeping the streets or putting stuff on the aisles at some supermarket.

Not seeing him interact with general public or go for a tech, corporate or academic career

...

I love Crumb's women, actual thickness is only find in muscle.

Let's have a classic

I love the absurdity of two 80s jocks talking about how much they hate the Three Stooges while jogging in the park.

This one almost looks like a Keith Haring parody.

...

He truly is the father of all of us.

Aww, that was kind of sweet.
