I never watched Steven universe before, finally gave it a chance. it's not bad. why do people hate this show?

I never watched Steven universe before, finally gave it a chance. it's not bad. why do people hate this show?

It's almost MLP-tier in exposure and threads.

except most mlp spam was false flags. This is the real deal, the sort of reject you meet in /sug/ all day long.

They probably don't like the fans or the style of the show.

The show's not really bad. Live and let live, OP.

They should just get a board and a global rule to post SU only in that board.

Lesbian relationships. A lot of them.

Cal Arts style.

Autistic fanbase.

>THIS KONG HAS A FUNNY FACE

Nowhere near mlp levels. People who say these kinds of things don't know what they're talking about.

I don't really understand why anons go apeshit whenever SU is mentioned. It's as bad as the crazy fandom. What's wrong with talking about it? It's an ongoing show. Just ignore or treat it like a normal popular cartoon.

op here, it's a good time waster. I don't really watch that much tv but this show is ok. I understand the fanbase can be annoying. characters I like best so far are lapis, greg and pearl.

>why do people hate this show?
Another case of the fans ruining it for everybody.
The shows not bad. It's just not as great as /sug/ wants you to believe. And they won't take no for an answer.

young greg too * forgot to add that. he's pretty cool.

To be honest a lot of series should have their own boards.
Sup Forums might be more enjoyable if boards were created for hugely popular things and folded away when the popularity has worn off.

/starwars/ and /capeshit/ would be a good star.

SU is on its last legs, not worth it.

I don't think there's ever been a scene with Greg in it where I was feeling lukewarm about him. Every line of his is golden and his interactions with Steven are cute.

That's an interesting concept, to be honest, but I doubt something like that will happen. Having "sub-boards" is not exactly the nature of Sup Forums. And frankly, sub-boards will just encourage terrible behavior from obsessed anons. Just look what happened to /frz/.

Like I said, just let the anons talk about this show, since it is actually on-going, and treat it like a normal popular show. Ban spammers, delete porn posts, etc.

We have this kind of autism with all cartoons, though. Remember the Loud House threads?

Because it's poplar.

It has a terrible, terrible fanbase.

There's been a trend over the last few years of people getting monumentally upset over a show getting more than one thread, on pretty much any board that relates to television. I don't know where it's come from, used to be that popular shows were expected to absolutely flood a board. This still isn't even close to Avatar or Gurren Lagann territory. I wonder if it's mainly new additions to the site, it's awfully whiny whatever the cause is.

I remember Geass Sundays as well, and that ending just ruined Sup Forums for a while. Sup Forums had Lost back in the day, but then again Sup Forums doesn't really go upset that easily when there are multiple threads.

pro gay rights:Sup Forums hates it
has characters with vulnerable moments:Sup Forums hates it
not every episode is a lore bomb:Sup Forums hates it
is a smart show:some in tumblr hate it
has characters who fuck up:some in tumblr hate it
like what you like and hate what you hate

>people care more about fanbases than cartoons

so this is what Sup Forums has come to

the only difference between SU fags and bronies is that phoneposting wasn't the default at the time.

Fuck you. Every single fucking time ANYTHING gets popular on this website, no matter what, there are dumb fucking faggots always screaming "THIS IS TOO POPULAR IT NEEDS IT'S ON BOARD WAAAAHHHHHHH". Every. Single. Fucking. Time.

Do you know what this website would be like if mods caved in to cry babies every single time people got irrationally angry that something got popular and started screaming that it needs it's own board? 80% of the website would be dead boards that got made because sensitive cry babies that couldn't stand it when something got popular.

Imagine a Sup Forums that's nothing but dead boards for one show. One game. One franchise.

Homestuck, Avatar, Loud House, Steven Universe, Undertale, Overwatch, basically fucking EVERYTHING THATS EVER GAINED POPULAR ON THIS WEBSITE I could spend all fucking day listing things that would have their own board.

Holy FUCK when did everyone here turn into an over-sensitive little faggot who got upset every time anything got popular? Why did Sup Forums turn into a bunch of fucking crybabies?

People are projecting the liberal boogy man over it. It's girly and MLP left a bad taste in our mouths. Steven is a turd for the first so many episodes. People resent the level of slice of life the show has and want more rapid fire plot progression. The threads can be obnoxious sometimes and there are people who will dislike something because of it's surrounding culture.

I think that pretty much covers everything. I like it; it's a decent show.

We don't. Its far and above the most loved and popular cartoon show on Sup Forums. Thats why people get annoyed seeing it so much.

It's an attack on Sup Forums's masculinity.

I don't actively go out and hate on the show, but I've watched quite a bit of it and I really, really hate it. But I also can't come up with any real reasons as to why. I don't like the art style very much, or some of the character designs (I thought both were generally better in the pilot, but I get the decision to change it), but I guess I just get the feeling that the show is trying too hard with it's characters and drama. But, I obviously can't really find "evidence" for that. Also, I think Steven is pretty unlikeable, he just seems kind of whiny and dumb. That said I totally understand the love for the show, as it brings some complexity, lore, and action to Cartoon Network. There isn't any show on right now that's quite like it in that respect

Steven Universe is for faggots

I'm an SU fan and I got to wonder why don't people just post shit like this in the already existing SU threads

When mods gave in to the "bronies need to be banned" mindset. Now users think they're entitled to their safespace.

It's shitty on slow boards like Sup Forums where threads linger for a long time before falling off also the mods don't prune repost threads like they used to long ago.

Check'd

It's because of Sup Forums, honestly. Everyone shoved their heads so far up the grand internet shitshoot that they cant see the sun anymore.

It started with /hsg/ too, I think. Boyh combined lead to a sort of mass exodus, and everyone who was left adopted a mentality of shitting themselves every time something didn't go their way.

>SU
>smart show

Subjective possible reasons: questionable quality of art style, quality of writing, quality of concept and lore, large amounts of episodes seen as filler including arguments between people who prefer the plot to move forward versus people who are fine with filler, association with twee neo-hippie ideologies on tumblr and in general, oversaturation on Sup Forums and on the internet in general, and the only even remotely cute-looking character I could possibly fap to has a fucking egg on her forehead for some reason and basically it's just sadtiems for muh penis so I need to go look elsewhere.

The obviously a Pearl before anyone starts, cos, it's her name and it's kinda the show's thing that these alien gem things have a gemstone or whatever on their body cos they're basically an entire race of hard light holograms or something, I guess? But that also adds the fact each one of them is the same kind of being as Arnold Fucking Rimmer as a complaint.....

Number one reason, the reason that's likely to have the least amount of people disputing it, is probably that the fanbase isn't just toxic, it's radioactive.

>It's because of Sup Forums, honestly.
Sup Forums is symptom, not cause. Like when you have a muslim lesbian teenager without hijab fighting against Trump in her comics, you're going too far. But mentioning that would cause the thread to scream Sup Forums. Because surely thats where we draw the line on how much politics is too much politics.

>exodus
Where?

If you release poni, everything will be back to normal. /mlp/ has managed to save that essential piece of Sup Forums culture thats free of politics and has become a living timecapsule of year 2010.

Sup Forums actually had a relativly civil SU thread a few days ago

So people don't hate it because of the quality of the show? They hate because of how often they see it on a stupid image board they don't even have to come to?

>/mlp/
>Free of politics

Tumblr self insert their SJWLGBTQWERTY shit into it. People take it out on the show, which isn't all that bad at all IMO.

In reality I don't really see a whole lot of feminist propaganda in it, but I'm not really looking for it.

They don't, they either hate the 15 topics that could just be in one general or like triggering the fans.
Sure, there's people who just dislike the show, but they're in the minority.

Or falseflaggers can stop spamming and derailing every thread as soon as S and U get used next to one another.

Why are there 3 threads about this? Not about Steven Universe overall, but about giving it a chance after a long time and liking it? Couldn't you have posted in one of those?

>lesbian relationships. A lot of them

Literally two of them, one of which ended because Greg 'MURDERCOCK' Universe seduced an 8-foot tall alien ungendered rock woman.

The other you don't even realise is a relationship until 52 (or 49 depending on how you're watching it) episodes in.

Yeah, none of them actually have genders, go figure.

>Cal Arts style

It's not a thing. Cartoons don't look the same because of the conceptual styles being he same, they look similar because there are known common processes which make animation cheaper and easier.

>Autistic fanbase

Where do you think we are?

Patrician taste OP.

>HE DOESN'T EVEN DIE AT THE END OF THE SHOW

People call them on their bullshit, so they move to a new thread. Rinse, repeat.

It has a consistent story, overarching themes, lore, and likeable characters. That's pretty smart for a kids cartoon.

Don't get me wrong, there's a whole library of stuff smarter than it. Moral Orel and Rick & Morty are notable examples.

Yup.

Also true, but there is a surprising amount of art of gems diddling each other, so people don't actually complain about the shipping too much surprisingly.

>is a smart show
stop right there

Politics

>50 posts
>Six pictures

Like clockwork

>It has a consistent story, overarching themes, lore, and likeable characters. That's pretty smart for a kids cartoon.
Jesus christ kid, that's not what makes a show smart or stupid.

>and likeable characters
Take a hard look at the pic I'm posting. It's by an actual smart story editor.

You guys are aware there's a permanent /sug/ thread on another board, right?

Just search SUG in the catalog and you don't have to leave the thread.

Nobody cares.

>Dull world-building that goes nowhere after the UG crossover
>Ruby and Sapphire
>SoL episodes with small world-building became filler episodes
>Music is hit and miss
>Everyone won't stop crying
>Steven barely develops as a character
>Connie in general
>Rarely any good gem designs outside Lapis and the Diamonds' Pearls
It's the biggest "Whatever" since TTG.

The show is good, but the fandom is fucking vile. I say this as an SUfag.

>Ruby and Sapphire

Can't forgive taking the coolest character and making her a fusion of two hateful pieces of childish shit who should be euthanized

So then avoid those threads. Leave the fandom to implode in on itself, and enjoy the show outside of all the autism.

>Everyone won't stop crying
Did Sugar learn writing from One Piece

It's simple, we autoban and/or murder all waifufags.

>implying you see su on other boards nearly as often as you did mlp

>these can be OK.
Apparently you missed that part.

Wouldn't that pretty much kill the entire board?

No because One Piece doesn't bullshit with it.

Because they use "muh tumblr" like a legitimate criticism because in Sup Forums's eyes progressiveness of any kind is equal to the burn the patriarchy tumblr.

your point is...?

>except most mlp spam was false flags. This is the real deal,
nice try, but it's the exact opposite, you child

MLP spam was backlash from Sup Forumstards who made obvious, insincere bait threads that Sup Forums bit on.

Combination of surface-level "SJW"-seeming premise, a fuckton of false-flag spamming, a sort of sloppy artstyle and people on Sup Forums seemingly not having any patience anymore.

Half of the websites are Sup Forums immigrants at this point. Part of the reason why Sup Forums has gotten so political in the past few years and can't have fun anymore.

welcome to Sup Forums

The characters in SU are usually more like the left column than the right. People are constantly shitting themselves and screaming about how X character is a bad person or whatever.

>aaron ehasz
>says characters should not be false gods, fascinating or compelling
>multitudes of his characters are fascinating, some are compelling, and the final bigbad of avatar was a false god

DAMMIT AARON
