Is Fallen Angels or In the Mood For Love the superior Hong-Kino?

same if i'm being tbhwu

in the mood for love is elite-tier kino in general but fallen angels is a much more enjoyable fim

you can't fucking smoke a cigarette and ride a motorcycle at the same time. The wind makes it burn up and blow ash / hot embers in your face

Tsai Ming-liang >>>>>>>>>>>>Wong Kar-wai

dude chungking express!!

stick to batman, kid

Fallen angels. All his work after it is pure wankery

you have no clue what you're talking about pleb

>Wong Kar-wai: muh cinematography for edgy 'I don't want to think-I just want to feel' teenagers who like Drive
>Tsai Ming-liang: social commentary for well read patrician adults

t.virgin
Do this all the time, just tilt it a bit and take big hits

chungking express is so underrated.

>owned by brits
>does great stuff
>owned by chinks
>does nothing of note
hmmm.....

you're fuckin gay dude, fuck off

this is true

this
new Taiwanese >>>>>>>>>>> new hong kong

But 90s Taiwanese cinema is far superior.

>b-but my waifus!

shut the fuck up pleb, you can't fucking comprehend how deep TML is compared to WKW

How would the ash on the cigarette stay there if your on a motorcycle?

not going that fast or jostling it around too much

The worst thing is how jackie chan and wong kar wai are mainland supremacists

>All his work after it is pure wankery

Happy Together is great too

This bothered me, so I went and looked and it's clearly stylized, hair isn't blowing at all, with no sign of the motorbike. They're probably not even riding the bike and on some platform with a windshield. This actually has just ruined the film for me, shit

>Taiwan

You mean Chinese Taipei?

Is there anything else out there like Fallen Angels? It's so dreamy, melancholic and lighthearted at the same time, can't quite explain it.

PEES

Stephen Chow > Tsai Ming-liang >>>>>>>>>>>>Wong Kar-wai

fair enough but comedic Tsui Hark>Stephen Chow

Mauvais Sang

Maybe you can help me find a movie. It's Taiwanese, I want to say at least 3 hours long and it takes place around the government crackdowns in the 50s.

Also I remember seeing a poster of the movie with a bloody sword and a school uniform

sounds like an Edward Yang film but one I've not seen
it's not a brighter summer day is it?

i couldn't get into days of being wild. i barely remember any of it.

loved in the mood for love though.

i have a notepad list i made from a previous asian cinema thread. just posting it here.

2046
Love Exposure
Secret Sunshine
All About Lily Chouchou
Christmas in August
Tokyo Trash Baby
Thirst
Tsai Ming-liang (director)

>a brighter summer day
That's set in the 60s, so can't be.

Where do I start?

Finally, an user who knows his shit. Good taste, my dear friend. Hong Kong´s 90´s cinema is one of those rare miracles that happens once in a while.

add yentown tobthat

>this post

>once in a while
literally in hong kong in the 90s you sperg

>Sup Forums is so shit that anyone who knows WKW films are being praised as extremely knowledgeable

I watched all of his films

I honestly would say chronologically since they're all great without any exception... but if you want to star with the best stuff first watch The rebels of the neon god then Goddbye dragon inn then maybe you'll be ready for Vive l'amour
also of noteworth are The wayward cloud for comedy and the Hole

Face is his only movie which is meh? but still good

There were great Hong Kong films throughout the 2000s aswell

holy shit reddit, kill yourself

Anyone seen this japanese (I think?) film where there's a scene with two guys sitting down at a baseball field at night and one of them's been shot or stabbed and they're talking about something? Looked like it was from the 90's or early 00's. The scene had a dreamy quality to it, similiar to Wong kar wai films.
It was something I saw on TV as a kid and stuck with me for some reason and I've been trying to find it for years with no luck.

For those in love with 90's Hong Kong cinema, i rec all to you to watch ' Rebels of the Neon God '

Boiling Point maybe? Takeshi Kitano yakuza film about a baseball player

I don't know but I'll check it out
thanks user

That's it, I just remembered wrong

i think it's pretty properly rated

This film really nailed the mannerisms of your typical uneducated cantonese dad. I really liked Tam's manic style. I'd like to see more his stuff.

Tai hao le

Tsai is one of the only true artists making cinema today
