25 years ago a bunch of Marvel artists left the Big Two and decided to form their company, with blackjack and hookers. This company would eventually become the closest to a third competitor for DC and Marvel (lol) and the best known creator-owned comic book company out there.
This week it's time to put the spotlight on the "second wave" series, those books that weren't created by the founders but still managed to be an important part of the company's history.
Next up is the hulking monstrosity only a Hulk artist could give you, Dale Keown's Pitt

Man, when I was a kid, my dad would let me buy about $30 a month from those two comic mail order companies. I forgot their names.
I would buy like every issue #1 Image comic. There were so many great artists drawing those comics.

So the Youngblood #4 mentioned a few times in this book was a different series from the Youngblood you posted last week, right? Because I went back to the archive to look just out of curiosity and there's nothing there that seems related to what they're talking about here.
Carson Lewis
I believe one of the mail order companies you are talking about was American Entertainment. They used to have these catalogs to order everything out of. Loved that stuff - especially the Traci Lords posters they would sell
Gavin Martin
Thanks for posting this and The Maxx.
It's fun to go back and examine these older books.
They supposedly represent all that went wrong with comics in the 90's (I'm speaking generally) but they sure are a lot more fun than a lot of the stuff today. (At least the books from a certain Big 2 publisher. Cough, cough...)
Jackson Davis
That's definitely one of the companies. It was a great service at the time before the internet became popular.
